Story
Marty was transferred in from an open admission facility. He was picked up as a stray, and extremely underweight, but his owners were never located. Marty is now looking for a new forever home. He has put on 30 pounds since his arrival and is looking great! Marty is high energy and loves to play with other nonaggressive dogs. Of course all that prancing truly does show off his speckled "footwear" as well. If you are an active person looking for an active dog, Marty might be just who you are looking for. Email reception@hsscg.org for an appointment to meet this sassy boy or stop by Tuesday through Saturday 11 to 4. Marty is neutered, microchipped, current on core vaccines and has tested negative for heartworms. Obviously he has a past. Now let's give Marty his future back!

Story
This litter is dubbed the Armadillo Road litter, which is the road they were born on with their mom. Their mom was owned by not so good people who didn't feed or care that she had litter after litter. They didn't care what happened to the mom or the babies. We were called by a concerned neighbor when the temperature climbed well into the 100s - it was just too hot for mom to nurse and maintain sanity. She was frantic and trying to constantly move the babies...sometimes only moving half and leaving others behind. Because of this the babies were very dehydrated and sick from worms. We decided the best thing to do as to take the babies (4 weeks old) get them safe and let mom stay with the neighbors who feed her to dry up so she could get spayed. She was spayed in July and no more babies for that girl, and now her babies are ready to find a new home. Mom was a lab mix and we presume one of the dads was possibly a chih mix as these pups are pretty small for moms size. No matter what they are they are adorable and sweet as pie. They all share food together without fussing and are super social and happy with dogs and people. If you think these babies would be a good addition to your family please fill out the application at https://shorturl.at/syCM3 to get started. They will be chipped, current on vaccinations and dewormed. You will be responsible for spay and/or Neuter at 6 to 10 months of age. They are too young at this time.SGER FAQs:We are a 501c3 non profit rescue.Your information in our application is not shared and is protocol for adoption. Story
Maverick is a meaty boy that is super sweet and loves to give hugs to anyone that will accept them from him. He has been absolutely perfect since coming to the rescue and gets along with all the dogs he's in a run with during the day. He has shown nothing but love to anyone that has interacted with him. We're unsure if he has ever been around cats, kids, or is he's been in a house before so his housetraining status is unknown. He can be cat tested at one of the volunteer/foster's house in order to see how he does with them. If you want your own personal couch hippo that'll snuggle on your couch and give you all the love you could ever want, please put an application in on Maverick, you won't regret it.SGER FAQs:We are a 501c3 non profit rescue.Your information in our application is not shared and is protocol for adoption. Story
Goose was covered in a horrible skin infection and while the shelter he was at was doing treatment for him, he needed to find a safe place to land after what he's been through. He made it to SGER and is doing amazing! He is a total lover that loves to play with the many other dogs he has around him and will flop and roll to his back for belly rubs. He is an amazing older puppy that needs his forever home now that his skin is healed and his hair is growing back in beautifully. We're unsure if he has ever been in a house or around cats so how he is in both areas is unknown. He can be cat tested upon request from an interested adopter. Please fill out an application for this gorgeous boy.

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Princess P was surrendered by her owner who was no longer able to care for her. She was born to a stray dog who wandered up to their home. Princess P was described as not housetrained, good with other dogs, but has never been around cats. She is reported to be good with children and knows the commands, "sit, no, and stay". Princess P has a very sweet personality and is about 8 months of age. This young girl would love to be in a forever home. Although not currently housetrained, Princess is of an age and temperament to learn it quickly with gentle and consistent training. She is medium/large at 48 pounds, so supervision with little ones would be advised. Come in and meet this pretty tricolored girl or email reception@hsscg.org. We are open 11 to 4 Tuesday through Saturday. Princess P is spayed, microchipped, current on core vaccines and has tested negative for heartworms.

Story
Cleo was surrendered by her owner. She was part of a surprise litter some time ago. Her mom apparently is a retriever, but her sire was unknown. However, he was probably a good size boy, as Cleo is 9 months of age and 57 pounds. She is very sweet but not well socialized yet. Cleo is a little shy and timid. Of course that could also be from being in a new environment. It does take time to adjust, as anyone who has adopted has learned. Her previous owner wrote that she is somewhat housebroken, and good with people, cats, and dogs. She also loves to swim! I expect everyone loves water this time of year! Cleo could definitely use a loving and gentle friend. Email reception@hsscg.org for an appointment or just stop by and see us. Cleo is spayed, microchipped, current on core vaccines and has tested negative for heartworms.
