Story
ORION is a 2 year old mixed breed male that weighs 50 lbs. He was a "covid" puppy that went out and came back to use when his family's situation changed. When he returned, we thought it best to polish up his manners and obedience in our Paws Behind Bars prison dog training program. This proved to be the best medicine for him and he excelled. He got along well with all the other dogs and there's no doubt he loves people. He has now graduated and he's in a great foster home with kids and another dog. HIs foster mom will tell you he's a very easy house guest! He loves his walks as well as all the attention he's getting! He's a very unique looking dog with a wrinkly kind of face and a short bobbed tail! He's an easy 50 lbs and has a very easy care short coat. If you're interested in adopting Orion, our process begins with submission of our online application which can be found at www.adoptmebluegrasspetrescue.com. Additional adoption FAQ's can be found here also. Meets will be set with approved applicants. Thank you!

Story
Meet TWIST!!! He is a male Shepherd / Doodle mix who is 6 months old. Believe it or not, his mother is a Goldendoodle, as black as Dickens is. Mom had a rendezvous with the "town tramp mix" and this is how it turned out! Not a curl or the wave of a doodle in sight. Dickens is a very nice puppy; he's outgoing, confident, and well socialized. In his foster home, he's learned to crate, leash, and house-train. He'll do well with an active family and a fenced in yard. Older children will be fine, but you might find him too rambunctious for smaller ones. We anticipate TWIST to be a large size at maturity. He is looking for a forever home that will love him unconditionally and continue to build his obedience skills. If you're interested in adopting, our process begins with the submission of OUR online application at www.adoptmebluegrasspetrescue.com, or email us if you have submitted an application within the last six months. We review and schedule meets (with approved applicants only) based on the order received.

Story
Meet Declan. Declan is a 16 week-old yellow lab mix who currently weighs 30 lbs. He came to us off a rural farm and was shy & withdrawn. We started him off with a great foster where got to experience life inside a home! Once comfortable with that, it was onto our Paws Behind Bars prison dog training program. Socialization is so important to a puppy and that development window is so short. His inmate enjoys training an adult dog along with a puppy, so Declan not only has the full attention of his human but also the company of his new big brother Rio(who is also on our site) Rio is a confident, wonderfully tempered young male and is the perfect canine role model for little Declan. Together they are learning how to sit, stay, down & come. Together they are figuring out if they like the crate? if they should listen to the leash? and decide which treats they like best! Give the puppy another couple of weeks and he will be more than family ready! Declan will need an attentive family that can continue to socialize him. He will mature to be a large dog and will need plenty of exercise so a fenced yard is strongly recommended. We think older children are more suitable, those that can be patient and understanding when Declan is unsure about encountering something new. It would also be ideal if the home already has a confident, older dog. He's a super sweet puppy and he's come so far, help him keep going! If you’re interested in adopting, our process begins with the submission of OUR online application at www.adoptmebluegrasspetrescue.com, or email us if you submitted an application within the last six months. We review and schedule meets (with approved applicants only) based on the order received.

Story
Meet Clifford Clifford lives up to his namesake, and even though he isn't quite a true red, he's a big yellowish/red dog in need of a home. Clifford came to us emaciated. He looks great now and has been taken care of by his inmate handler in Camp K-9 at the Kentucky State Reformatory. Clifford is estimated to be about 3 to 4 years old and almost 84 pounds. He is a Lab mix. Clifford loves playing with other dogs. He likes walks, playtime with humans, and playing with toys on his own also. When he has been exposed to cats, he does not chase them. Clifford ideally will find a home with an experienced owner. We are recommending he go to a home with children 16 and older, unless the new owners are experienced dog owners and then the children could be younger. He has all the charm and sweetness expected of a Lab, with some athleticism and loyalty to his handler mixed in. He is house-trained and crate trained. He takes grooming well. He is a quick learner and knows his basic commands of sit, down, stay, come, heel, and is working to perfect advanced commands such as immediate down, down in motion, down at a distance, come and heel in motion, and down/stay. His manners include food, visitor and door control, and walking on a loose leash. He is learning the tricks of playing dead and "bang bang. Clifford's quirks are quite manageable. We are hoping there is someone out there is willing to give him a chance. In order to meet Clifford, we need a completed application. You can find the application by going to the Humane Society of Oldham County website. Then go to the Adopt page and you will find a link to the two-page application.

Story
We got Louis 8 years ago from a shelter. He was estimated to be just under 2 at the time. Louis is very independent but with the right family, is super loving. He has had a an incident where someone approached him in public while he was under a table while we were eating and he reacted by biting. That was 6 years ago. Since this he is a bit more to himself and like to have his own space. We used to live on property and he thrived there. He had untended 4 acres and never went wandering off property. He loves to swim and lovesss his food. He really is a great dog but since we moved to a smaller yard and have had 2 kids, we feel like he would be better with someone who can give him the space and attention he deserves. Louis had a brother Ryker we are also looking to rehome and they are two peas in a pod. While Louis doesn’t do great with other dogs, he loves Ryker.

Story
Atticus is a very sweet, eager-to-please young pup with a ton of energy. He loves hiking, walks, and going for pup cups at Starbucks. He's pee-pad trained and we're working on getting him to go outside. He understands "sit", "down", "paw", and "come here". He would definitely do best with space to run, and maybe a friend! We'll send him with everything you need, including a crate, toys, food, puppy pads, treats, and bowls. If you like cuddling with animals, he's the one for you! He loves hugs and napping with his humans. We're rehoming because he's too high-energy for us and he doesn't get along with one of our cats. He doesn't understand that the cat doesn't want to play with him, but if you're able to wear him out, he'll usually leave the cat alone. We also live in an apartment and there's just not enough room for him to burn off energy by himself.
