He needs an experienced lab owner or someone with experience training dogs to help us help Jet!!! Jet is a lab/boxer mix who needs a special home where he is the only pet to begin with or will need to be kept kenneled when not being supervised. Sadly, he has three strikes against him and would be euthanized in a shelter. Being black his chances for adoption are minimal. He loves to run free but at his last home the neighbors threatened to kill him for coming in woods while they were deer hunting. He has has lots of energy and loves to play, but desperately needs a chance with a person that has lab/pit experience. He is around 1 1/2 years old and weighs about 50 pounds. He is  solid black and has the sweetest amber eyes. He is neutered and up to date on all of his vaccines. Jet is used to kids/pets and has a gentle soul. Since he is very active and used to roaming, he will need a home with a fenced in yard. Jet does not need to be with small farm animals like chickens or ducks.  He’s so smart, just needs some love and attention. Jet is the perfect age to work with. While he hasn’t ever been inside, we are looking for a home that will transition him to having inside access. It definitely breaks our heart to see dogs outside cold and lonely wanting to be inside being loved. Our numbers have increased exponentially since Covid. Unlike most shelters, we remained open and hit record intake numbers after the epidemic hit. We have taken in dozens of very sick felines that had no other option, and have even helped over 60 canines in 2021. 2022 was not any better.  We are trying to compute our end of the year numbers, but intake, vetting expenses, cost of food and litter for our 120 plus cats all just continues to get worse with the cost of living increasing like it has. Our rescue has also provided record number spay/neuters 2023 at well over 1200 surgeries on cats and dogs. Our accounts are drained, but we feel these surgeries are the only way we are going to be able to stay a float. We will never keep up with the rate that cats can breed in our area.  We operate solely on donations, and we are always looking for wonderful families to join our efforts. We have dozens of felines not posted and dozens more on our waiting list.
