Story
Introducing Chance, a handsome 2-year-old Lab mix who's on the lookout for a specific home. If you're seeking a canine companion and happen to live in a rural environment, we may have the pup for you!Chance would be best suited as the only pet in the home and thrive in an environment with limited animals around, allowing him to focus on the bond he forms with his owner. He has a high prey drive His strong prey drive means he may have a keen interest in chasing smaller creatures, so when going out he should be on leash always, and on walks, be mindful he may try to chase all the squirrels!Chance has a knack for being an escape artist extraordinaire! He's always up for a little adventure, so he requires a secure space and monitoring. With some creativity and patience, you can help him channel his curiosity in a positive way. While he enjoys his human company, Chance prefers a home without young children. Teenagers who understand and respect his boundaries may be a better fit. Chance is a smart pup, and he's eager to learn and please. However, he has quite the personality that requires an experienced owner who can provide structured training and consistency. With the right guidance, Chance can shine! If you can check all his boxes, please reach out to us at BHS to give Chance.. a chance! He is ready to be out of the shelter environment and in a home!

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. WIZ was saved from a kill shelter in Georgia and arrived at Give a Dog a Home Rescue, in Sebec, Maine on 5 April 2024.  Wiz is neutered, rabies, core vaccines, monthly preventatives, and is microchipped with 24PetWatch. He has an estimated date of birth of 27 November 2023 and in April 2024 weighed of 20 pounds. We have no way of knowing the breed, it is up to individuals to look at the pictures and videos to make up their own mind. Wiz has a hunchback and whilst at the shelter did have an orthopedic examination where the veterinarian determined and noted on his medical paperwork "hunched back but othro exam was normal". Whilst being at the rescue he is happy, active and shows no sign of discomfort or pain whilst he is running and playing with the other pups. This sweet boy is still a young pup and so we are looking for families who understand that puppies are a lot of work and need lots of socializing, training, structure and routine. WIZ is such a gentle soul, he can be playful and boisterous one minute and then chilled and relaxing the next. He likes to wrestle and play with his puppy kennel mates, but also is in the middle of the puppy-pile when it is nap time. He will sneak into the other kennel and give me those puppy eyes to give him some sneaky cuddles and ear scratches which just make him melt into my arms - so adorable. We take a lot of pictures and videos and don't always have the time to post them on the dogs individual webpage and adoption site, so we ask that you go to the rescue    YouTube channel   and  photo albums on our Facebook page   to see a LOT of pictures and videos. We are looking for families that have the lifestyle that the dog needs to lead a healthy, both mentally and physically life, who can afford a GOOD quality food, toys and treats and understand the importance of veterinary wellness checks. Wiz is located at the rescue in Sebec Maine and is available for a  reduced adoption  fee of $550. Interested families are required to complete our application process and once approved schedule an appointment to come to the rescue to meet and take home their new best friend. Our process takes 1-2 days as long as we are able to talk to references, so be prepared to be approved (hopefully) to adopt within a few days of submitting the adoption application. https://giveadogahome-rescue.rescuegroups.org/forms/form?formid=5838 HOUSE TRAINED - All of our dogs are located in the kennel building so we are not able to say if a dog is house-trained, however, they do have access and use the dog door to access their run, play area 24/7. FOOD - We feed a variety of high quality brands and flavors including, chicken, turkey, beef, lamb and fish generally alternated daily. CATS - We do not have cats in the kennels and are not able to say how our dogs are with cats.
