Story
Kelsey is our pretty, yet passive Lab mix girl that came to Critter Cavalry Rescue under some most unusual circumstances.  She is a 10 month old Lab mix girl with pretty white with black spots and a nice square face that has eyes that look to her human mom for reassurance and encouragement to do things in life.   She came to Critter Cavalry Rescue with her littermates and her mom and dad all living in one car that was driven by their homeless female owner.   This woman came to Nashville and promptly her car broke down just outside the Nashville Rescue Mission for people.  Living in a car was what they had done for a while.  This owner/woman relinquished all 7 dogs to several rescues and Critter Cavalry took the 5 young siblings Labs who were 8-9 months at the time.  This was in July when it was so unbearably hot and humid and their car had no A/C.  This girl has come a long way from cowering and slinking around with no confidence, to lifting her head and showing some enjoyment and happiness in life. She is still skittish of lots of things, but less so and slowly coming out of her shell where she keeps totally to herself.  She is wagging her tail now when the foster mom comes home and she is learning to play with toys.  She is a 50 pound girl that will grow maybe 10 more pounds up into her adulthood. She is crate trained and loads in with just a few words telling her to go.  She is housebroken, doesn’t bother anything in the house when home alone and now she is excited when her humans wake up and she is there with just the slightest tail wags. This delightful work-in-progress is exactly what rescuing a dog is all about and will be very gratifying to the family who takes her in to mold, love, reassure and teach her the best way to live a great dog’s life.  Kelsey is a special 10-month-old Lab mix who has traveled through the twists and turns of life to find her forever home. From living in a car with six other furry family members,  to navigating the world of home comforts, she has a story that deserves to be heard. You can see the sparks of a playful pup hidden behind her cautious eyes. But Kelsey is slowly blossoming into her own better self. The few times she forgets her past, you can catch her displaying her goofy side - laying upside down, playfully tossing toys around, or even 'stealing' an occasional harmless item (which she promptly exchanges for her favorite toys!).There's a tender, tentative joy in Kelsey when she realizes that she's in a safe space. She might wag her tail at the friendly faces she meets or approach you with an eager, wagging tail, only to take a step back before remembering she's in a loving environment. But with each passing day, those steps back become fewer, and the moments of joy become longer. Another delightful trait of Kelsey’s is her unique vocal range! From her deep, protective bark to her adorable grumbles and groans, she communicates in ways that will constantly keep you entertained. Due to her booming voice, she might do best in a setting where thin apartment walls aren't a factor. As for her interactions with fellow canine companions, she looks up to them as role models and sources of comfort. While she's still navigating the dynamics of sharing resources, her progress has been commendable. The food bowl at her foster home is always full, ensuring that she slowly understands that there's no need to guard it. She's also nearly perfected her housetraining and is cozying up to the idea of a crate, although she deeply wishes for company and is learning to be at ease when alone. Kelsey is a gem in the making, a puppy at heart who's waiting to shine her brightest. She may need a bit more patience, love, and understanding than the average dog, but she promises a journey of growth, laughter, and heartwarming moments in return. If you feel you can give Kelsey the home where she can finally let her guard down and be the delightful pup she's meant to be, please contact us at ccrtennessee@gmail.com. She's eager to meet you! Story
Don’t let Black Elvis' young age and 70 pound size fool you, Elvis is a gentle giant and an old soul.  This boy is just starting to fill out his frame and will likely be 80 pounds when all is said and done as an adult Lab.  He’s a big boy that is 1-2 years old but has the poise and demeanor of a mature, well-trained lap dog.  He’s eager to learn and would be easy to train in all sorts of ways.  Elvis is housebroken and loves to lay on the kitchen floor watching you cook, or next to the bed when you sleep.  He’s got one heck of a baritone bark, deep, loud and powerful and lets you know when someone is in the drive.  What a great protector and alert dog to people in your private space.  This boy was found as a stray and we are in amazement because of his seeming perfection.  He’s happiest on a walk, sniffing out deer and doves, or just sitting by your side with his big head in your lap.  He doesn’t mind car rides and he is great with other dogs, tiny and tall.  He’ll make a great companion to a family looking for a pure black Lab.  We can cat test and he is most probably a great boy around young children.  He is just too happy, calm and friendly to NOT be good with children and most probably cats too.  If you are interested in this handsome boy please write to us at ccrnewengland@gmail.com  He is heartworm negative and has been wormed with a totally great bill of health.  He is neutered and microchipped as well.  Don't miss out on this special and rare offering as a pure Lab. PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.September 27, 2023, 12:28 pm

Story
He was named after King Midas with his touches of gold on his white fur and so here we are ready to have our handsome Lab mix puppy meet the world to discover his special treasures of love he truly wants to give.   Born approximately the 1st of July, Midas started life in truly horrendous conditions after being born to a feral momma dog who lived in the woods in a rural county in Tennessee.  When he and his littermates got old enough to venture out on their own, they came out of the woods and an elderly lady took them home and put them in an outdoor pen.  They barely survived the heat and the fleas that plagued the litter.  Luckily Critter Cavalry was asked to help!  Midas had very little to no human interaction until he came into foster care at the age of 6-7 weeks.   Here is where we have to do a little more patient work with our sweet boy that follows you like a shadow but runs if you reach for him to pet.  He wants your touch but doesn’t know how to accept it.  We have worked for the past 2 weeks with him after we realized that this was a deeply embedded physical fear of touch that needs to be changed through slow and steady work on the part of the humans in his life.  He longs to be cuddled but he needs the one on one home to do that with just him around.  We have not had that chance because of other siblings around the foster mom’s feet clamoring for their own attention, has deprived him of a lot of one on one time with her.  Midas should grow to be a 50 pounds boy since he is currently 18 pounds at 12 weeks.  This pup is a very playful pup who loves other dogs.  He is vocal when he plays. Although he likes his foster mom and follows her everywhere, he is still hand shy and is not trusting enough to beg for pets or cuddles. Right now he needs to be mostly around older children or adults because he doesn’t understand that young children’s hands are not for nipping and trying to get their attention to run and play with him like his other puppy siblings. He has had exposure to dogs of different sizes, cats, and children.  Midas just likes being a dog and doing his own thing. We think that eventually he will love attention or cuddles.   It may change as he gets older and more trusting and we know he would thrive with someone willing to work with him and his fear of hands. He is a sweet boy and would love to find his person and family.   If you are up for the patient work and the rewards of seeing him unfold and blossom, then please email us at ccrtennessee@gmail.com   We would love to talk with  you on some Tips and training that we know can be done to change his distancing.   PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comSeptember 27, 2023, 12:28 pm

Story
This is our beautiful Moonbeam Girl, a Lab/Hound mix girl that is the definition of a true sweetheart. Moonbeam Girl is all about confidence and she elected herself to be everyone's “hall monitor” to her littermates when she arrived at the foster home.  She is a pretty girl that is 24 pounds and destined to be a good medium sized girl at 50-60 pounds as a pretty adult girl.  Moonbeam takes the leadership role in her litter very seriously and loves to make sure her siblings stay in line and out of trouble. When she's comfortable with a new person, she will run right up to you and sit beside you to watch the action going on in her surroundings. She is a sweet pup that loves “quality time” and kind of demonstrates the makings of an old soul.  Certainly she is not one of those nervous and hyper puppies who is randomly there to play and not observe what is happening all around them.  She is a thinker…. But of course she loves to run and play too, but knows when to calm down. She’s a sweet puppy who will grow to be a wonderful family dog as she is currently living with 6 young children the ages of 4 to 16 years.  If you are interested in her please email Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrnewengland@gmail.com.  She is ready NOW!!!! Story
Jemma is a 3 year old Lab mix looking for a home. She is great with people and children of all ages. She is not a fan of small dogs. Dogs her size or larger would be the best fit for her. She does have a strong prey drive so no cats are chickens. Jemma an active girl who loves to play and run. She would do best in a home where her people are home or work from home. Jemma is housebroken. Adoption fee is $450 If you do not hear from us within 7 days please email passion4petsrescue@gmail.com

Story
My name is Velma and I am lucky little girl that has come from being born in the woods to a feral mom and to being treated like a princess in my foster home where I get love and good food and all the things I need to be healthy.   I won’t bore you with the hardships me and my littermates face when we were born.  Let’s just say we are very lucky to be alive at all and able to find families to love for the rest of our life.  I was born around the middle of June and I am ready to find my family at any time.  I am a smart little girl that loves to run around and explore the great outdoors and I have just enough independence that I can go off and explore on my own.  I am not fearful of anything and I most certainly enjoy people giving me attention during the day.  I love to sunbathe and lounge on the outdoor lawn chair cushions.  I am around young active children and do just fine with all their loud behavior.  I enjoy the company of both dogs and cats alike and I am easy to teach good doggie manners and commands to.  I am a sponge to learn and please. They say I am just a mixture of a lot of different things.  Mostly some Lab, Shepherd and maybe some Aussie.  I will most probably be a 45-50 pound adult girl and one who could benefit from a fenced yard or an active family who takes me out for lots of exercise.  Maybe we could go for walks, hikes, or jogs.  I am ready for any adventures that you want to take me on as your sidekick in life.  Please email Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com if you are interested in making me yours!
