Story
Dickens is a black Lab mix puppy who runs on curiosity, wiggles, and pure puppy enthusiasm. At about 22 lbs already, he’s growing fast — though just how big he’ll end up is still a mystery. He’s been raised at the shelter alongside his sister, Gloria, and has met lots of people, giving him a great foundation with humans. But make no mistake: Dickens is still a baby who will need ongoing socialization, training, and a committed adopter ready to help him learn how to be a well-mannered adult dog. Dickens is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, and ready for a home that understands puppies are fun and a lot of work. Expect energy, learning curves, and plenty of moments that make it all worth it. If you’re looking for a pup to grow up with — and you’re prepared to put in the time — Dickens is ready to meet you. Since many of our adoptable dogs are in foster homes, appointments are highly recommended to ensure the animal you are interested in is currently at the shelter. Please call or e-mail the shelter to set up an appointment to meet and adopt! Our adoption fees include the following: all of our dogs/puppies are current on vaccinations (DHPP and Rabies if over 3 months of age) at the point of adoption, dewormed, heartworm tested and current on preventative, microchipped, treated for fleas/ticks and are spayed or neutered. Our large dog adoption fee is generally $175 + tax. Our small dog and puppy adoption fee is generally $300+ tax. Adoption fees may vary in special circumstances. Due to space limitations, we do not hold dogs. Because we are on a busy street, we require that all dogs leaving the shelter be in a carrier or on leash. All pets remain up for adoption until an approved application is processed and their adoption fee paid.

Story
Gloria is a 3-month-old black Lab mix puppy with a bright personality, busy paws, and a whole lot of growing left to do. Weighing about 20.6 lbs, she’s already showing she’ll be a sturdy pup — though her adult size is still anyone’s guess. Gloria is social, curious, and comfortable meeting new people thanks to her time at the shelter, but she’s still very much in her puppy phase. She’s learning how the world works and will need continued socialization, training, and guidance from a committed adopter who’s ready to help her build good habits and confidence as she grows. She’s spayed, up to date on vaccinations, and ready for a home that understands puppies are fun, energetic, and a serious commitment. With patience, consistency, and plenty of positive experiences, Gloria has all the potential to grow into a wonderful companion. Since many of our adoptable dogs are in foster homes, appointments are highly recommended to ensure the animal you are interested in is currently at the shelter. 🐾2 year old Neutered Male Lab type mix 🐾Good with other dogs of all sizes, can play too rough with under 20 lbs. 🐾Some exposure to cats – will chase if opportunity presents itself, but generally does well 🐾Duke can be stressed by children in the home, so we’d want to make a match with kids thoughtfully. 🐾Duke is kennel trained, and house trained. 🐾Duke is currently working with a trainer and working on mastering basic commands, manners, and building his confidence and social skills. Duke originally arrived from a tough life of being abandoned until people stepped in and rescued him. Duke is a work in progress (aren’t we all!) in regards to his confidence and social skills and we are excited to chat with you about tools for success! Duke has been vet checked, is up to date on his vaccinations, microchipped, heartworm tested negative, neutered, and current on his flea/tick/heartworm preventatives. Meet Betsy! A 5 year old, 75 pound, fluff of love looking for a place to call her own. She’s full of energy and loves to run and play. She’s a fan of playing tag but absolutely loves to wrestle with her doggy companions. Although she didn’t grow up with cats, she seems to have a few mixed feelings about them – some she leaves alone while others she will try and chase. Betsy loves everyone that she meets and cannot wait to wow you with her sweetness! Betsy is searching for a home due to her elderly owner no longer able to continue caring for her. Betsy is started on basic obedience, leash manners, and has some off leash training. She is kennel and house trained as well. Betsy is a medium energy level and she is used to being on the go during the day!

Meet Captain Lemony Snicketts! This spunky 7 year old boy loves to be the busy bee of the group! He’s grown up with kids and does well meeting people. He’s a charmer and likes to wow you for snacks. He does well with different dogs and loves to run and chase. He’s a bit much for cats and absolutely will chase them relentlessly so a home without is best. Captain is working on polishing his basic obedience and leash skills, but he’s smart and thrives with one-on-one attention. Captain is a high energy boy and needs daily exercise. He thrives on hiking and runs! Captain will tolerate a kennel, but he will let you know that he’s not happy. Since he’s mostly been an outside dog, he’s still working on mastering house training, but catching on!
