She was scared when first coming into rescue but with kind words and time she was able to relax and get comfortable with her new surroundings. She does love to play with the other younger dogs we have here because she is a young dog herself. We try not to crate her too much because she has done fine out with several of the other dogs in our care or with our dogs. Understand she will be scared and shy at first but just go slow with her and she will come around. Our must haves for her are: • A fenced in yard • Another young small dog for her to play with and pal with • Someone that can be home more than not or works from home • Someone active enough to take her for walks and car rides • No apartments, high rises or condos in case she barks at noises If you can fill these must haves and want to add a beautiful little girl to your home then Cara is the one for you. Please go to our website and fill out our online adoption application. ============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ============== AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund’s back or get bitten. If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed on the bio form. They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal. There will be an additional $60 fee added for a required Health Certificate if traveling out of the state in which they are being fostered. We will not adopt into CT, RI, NH, ME, or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states. If you have any issue with this, you will need to take this up with your legislatures. To understand the adoption process through AADR, please review the Adoption Information on our home page. Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3. Click this link to apply: https://www.allamericandachshundrescue.org/apply, it will take you to the application form. Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers who will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast or Midwest. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. Please look for dogs on your coast.

CITY, STATE: Milwaukee, WI NAME: Luke AGE: 7 yrs DOB 10/31/18 SEX: Male WEIGHT: 19 lbs he is a small standard COLOR: Red COAT: Smooth UP TO DATE: yes SPAYED/NEUTERED: Yes, before he came to rescue DHPP: yes DATE: 11/13/25 RABIES: yes DATE: 11/13/25 TAG NUMBER: 2051 ADOPTION FEE: 375.00+25.00(chip fee) HOUSETRAINED: Yes CRATE TRAINED: yes LEASH TRAINED: yes FENCED YARD NEEDED: yes he loves the outside SPECIAL NEEDS: no HOME W/ SMALL CHILDREN: No only adult children HOME W/ OTHER DOGS: MALE: yes FEMALE: yes HOME W/ CATS: no MICROCHIP BRAND and #: 911PetChip 991003911503035 MONTHLY HEARTWORM DATE: 14th of each month FOSTER HOME: Cam aadrpresident@gmail.com RESCUE #: 2025-11-08-01 BIO: Luke was an owner surrender right here in TN. He had belonged to the elderly parent and was allowed to run the house therefore picked up some bad habits. So, with our help he has gotten some manners but will need to go to an experienced dachshund owner. He came in over weight but we have gotten him down some but he may need to lose another pound or two. He really is a sweet happy boy. He loves to be outside and will do zoomies out in the yard in the morning. We do know that he does not like going to the vet to get his nails trimmed so a muzzle would have to be used. We also know that he doesn’t care for strangers so new people coming into the home would have to be made aware of this and not just walk in. We think a quieter home would be best for him with few visitors but getting him out for walks or taking him to PetMart would be great for him. If you are looking for a standard then here is your chance. Please help Luke find his last forever home. our must haves for Luke: a fenced in yard a quieter home can be an only dog or another small adult dog only adult children 14 yrs plus no apartments, high rises or condos ============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ============== AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime.
