Story
On July 14, 2025 we adopted Allie from Humane Colorado in Alamosa. She was said to be an Australian Shepherd/Australian Cattle Mix. She was 10 weeks old and weighed 8 pounds. She was an affectionate dog from the get go and we bonded instantly. We were told that her expected full grown weigh would be about 40 pounds which we felt was perfect for us. She is smart, affectionate and a real cuddle bug. We fell in love with her. We decided to have her DNA tested and not quite believing the results had it done a second time by a different company. The results showed that she was about 40% Great Pyrenees, 30% Australian Cattle dog, 20% St Bernard and 10% German Shepherd with an expected full-grown weight of 70 plus pounds. We were surprised and felt somewhat mislead that we now had a dog twice the size that we bargained for. The Great Pyrenees is a herding dog. They are strong, intelligent, protective, needs a job but can be gentle and calm around the people they love. Can provide added info.

Story
Meet Nala! She has so much love to give. It’s just wrong that she doesn’t have her forever person to love on and just be with. Nala is super friendly and the most cuddle hungry dog I’ve ever had in foster. She needs to be with you wherever you are. She does fine when left alone but if she’s in one part of the house and you’re in another part she will cry and howl until she gets tired or she is “reunited” with her human. She I great with kids and plays well with other dogs. Nala’s biggest issue is she doesn’t like to share attention. She’s fine sharing toys and food and affection with other people but not with other dogs. She would do great with another dog who is more confident and less needy, or as the only dog. Nala can just cuddle and be a couch potato but she also loves being outside, go for walks, and would be an excellent hiking/jogging partner. She gets excited about car rides and it takes a few minutes for her to settle in. She is house trained and crate trained and isn’t at all destructive. She has a favorite blanket and teddy bear she sleeps with. All in all Nala is a beautiful girl, knows basic commands, is very smart and just wants to be loved by someone who appreciates the love she has to give. ##2219524##
