We will add more information as we get to know the dog better. ________________________________________________________________________ If you are interested in meeting a dog or cat, we require an adoption application. Learn more, see our list of dogs needing foster, and apply, https://www.citydogsrescuedc.org/foster-a-city-dog.html City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is a foster-based rescue in Washington, DC. We do not have a shelter. CDCK has a thorough adoption process to find the best possible fit for each of our dogs and cats (we do not operate under a first-come, first-served model). Upon accepting a new cat or dog into the organization, we provide a basic vet visit that includes necessary vaccinations, disease screenings, deworming, microchips, and spay/neuter for dogs six months and older. We do not provide a comprehensive medical exam before adoption. As a result, sickness, injury, and disability may exist unbeknownst to CDCK. City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is not responsible for payment of any vet care, including known and unknown medical conditions once a cat or dog is adopted from us. Dog specific: Rabies, DHPP, and Bordetella vaccines. They are tested for HW, Lyme, Ehrlichia, Anaplasmosis. Most cats and dogs will have a house-training accident in the initial days in their new home and we cannot guarantee any pet is housebroken or crate trained. We also update our Facebook page daily with new cats and dogs.

Story
I'm at our Oglethorpe Street shelter! If you want to adopt me, come to 71 Oglethorpe St. NW between 12-7 pm Tuesday-Sunday or visit humanerescuealliance.org/how-to-adopt to learn more.Farro is a 20-pound furry love who somehow ended up as a stray. He's a charming pooch with a darling waggy tail. Farro seems to enjoy mellow pettings and just hanging with us. Farro adores squeaky toys and will appreciate a full doggy toy box. He's a cute little guy but he can be sassy in new settings and when meeting new people so his adopters will need to be savvy and understanding of his special needs. He also thinks cats are something to be chased so a feline-free home is best for him! Farro has the type of hair that keeps growing and without proper grooming, he'll become so uncomfortable. So periodic trips to a professional doggie beauty salon to keep his fur in top shape must be on his agenda. A dog likes to look and feel good of course. Farro is a lovely little guy looking for kind folks that have the time and resources to take better care of him. Meet this mini man today!Head to this link to see how we've been responding to Canine Influenza in shelter and working to keep it from spreading in the community!https://www.humanerescuealliance.org/blog/posts/what-you-need-to-know-about-canine-influenza
