Story
George needs to be an only dog, he prefers the companionship of humans . He was surrendered to our rescue when his owner passed away. The family was unable to keep him as they have pets of their own. He is very laid back and would do best in a quiet environment.

Story
PLEASE READ THIS PROFILE AND THE REQUESTED CRITERIA BEFORE CALLING OR SUBMITTING AN APPLICATION. THANKS FOR YOUR ATTENTION AND CONSIDERATION MEET NOODLES…who is ready, willing and able to meet you! This precocious 1.5-2 yr old, 15 lb, cream colored Lhasa Bichon baby boy was found wandering the streets (intact) until a wonderful good Samaritan saved him from traffic and who knows what else! After exhausting a search for his people and having no luck, they called Lhasa Happy Homes and asked for our help. We obliged and we are thrilled that we did. Now neutered, up to date on his shots, microchipped and groomed, this little “noodle” is a happy boy who just wants to love and be loved! When he first greets people coming into your house…or meeting you on the street….he may bark and tell you right up front who is the boss!! But only for a minute, as soon as once he knows you are safe, he is a gentleman and kisses other dogs and lets them know he is a friend! Noodles loves everyone! He is good with kids, dogs, we don’t know about cats….young and old, men and women, he wants to be your friend. He especially would like to have his very own canine companion to fun around with because while he doesn’t have separation anxiety, he doesn’t like being alone. He LOVES bones and will spread them around the house when he’s not playing with them! Loves squeaky toys and loves being a puppy. Don’t leave tissue around or one piece will become many! Noodles will bark for a minute or two when you leave, and does the cutest dance and pattycakes when you come home! Because of this, he would be best in a home as opposed to an apartment/townhouse. He is a kissyface boy, and he will join you on your bed for a quick cuddle, then he prefers the floor or his own bed! Everyone should have a dog like Noodles one time in their life!! He will love you as you will love you as you will love him! Does Noodles sound like a delicious morsel for you to love? Our website is updated daily. Please do not apply for this dog unless your home fits the specified criteria. All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped, groomed, vet checked, dewormed, deflea'd and come with a leash, collar and ID If you are interested in adopting a pup from Lhasa Happy Homes, please complete the Adoption Application before calling. Story
PLEASE READ THIS PROFILE AND THE REQUESTED CRITERIA BEFORE CALLING OR SUBMITTING AN APPLICATION. THANKS FOR YOUR ATTENTION AND CONSIDERATION THIS IS ROCKO…and rock’n’roll Rocky is a superstar!! This gorgeous, 17 lb, 2-3 yr old, tan/white Lhasa Apso is the real deal! Unfortunately, in the past he has landed in the wrong place and hasn’t yet found a family that had the time or appreciation to get this wonderful boy training or give him the attention he needs. He is still a puppy in an adult body! And STILL he is very loving, kissy, playful and happy under the right circumstances! Rocko is a bit on the wild side — but nothing that some patience, time, training won’t solve. When you are walking him, he likes to run circles around you but we are working on “walk straight” and he responds. He is very smart and wants to please. Rocko is not aggressive but he can be snippy when he is surprised. He needs pet parents who understand the breed and will work on his human socialization. He loves to play with other dogs and should have one of his own!! He is very demonstrative in showing you he wants to go for a run…or a hike. He ain’t no couch potato…until he has had a busy day playing, going to the park, going on walks and you tire him out. He wants to explore the world, meet and greet anyone on the street and say hello! The best home for Rocko would be one where there is a yard, so that he can exercise and play with you! Because kids can be frenetic, we think he’d be better off without kids. His vocal manners are pretty good — we had not heard him bark, but once at adoptions, we found he does bark to alert! AND if you take him out on a regular basis, he is pretty good doing his business outside and will use a pp pad if necessary! He has been at doggie playcare, so he might need a refresher course. But, no guarantees at your house! Does Rocko sound like a pup you could “rock’n’roll with? Our website is updated daily. Please do not apply for this dog unless your home fits the specified criteria. Story
BANDIT, recently groomed and clipped, is a long legged Lhasa Apso/Maltipoo, who is 7 years old, 17 pounds, and has been an only dog with the same family (who could not keep him), since puppyhood. Bandit does bite people. His main flaw is that he is overly loyal and protective, and will take a bite out of a stranger's foot or ankle if they suddenly come too close. Lhasas are a very ancient breed and were fierce little sentinel and guard dogs for the Dalai Llama and Buddhist monasteries in Tibet. The 14th Dalai Llama sent them as gifts to the West, and they have been a favorite ever since. Bandit is neutered and vaccinated and we are searching for an understanding and patient new home where he can be the dedicated guardian he was meant to be. To learn more about Bandit, please contact: theanimalsleftbehind@socal.rr.com (also our PayPal donation and sponsorship email)

Adopting a Lhasa Apso

Frequently asked questions about acquiring an Lhasa Apso - the pros and cons of adopting versus going through a breeder, and associated costs.

You can adopt a Lhasa Apso at a much lower cost than buying one from a breeder. The cost of adopting a Lhasa Apso is around $300 in order to cover the expenses of caring for the dog before adoption. In contrast, buying Lhasa Apsos from breeders can be prohibitively expensive. Depending on their breeding, they usually cost anywhere from $600 to $1,500.

The easiest way to adopt a Lhasa Apso would be through a rescue that specializes in Lhasa Apsos. A great place to start is starting a breed search on Adopt a Pet. The search will show you all the available Lhasa Apsos in your area.

Lhasa Apso fun facts

Fun Facts:

Despite being around for centuries, Lhasa Apsos weren't introduced to the West until the late 19th century. British colonialists in India that were vacationing in the Himalayan foothills took delight in these small dogs and took them to England with them.

"Apso" is the Tibetan word for "bearded."

In Tibet, Lhasa Apsos were so sacred they were never bought. They could only be given as gifts. It was thought that the souls of deceased llamas awaiting rebirth into a new body would spend time in the bodies of Lhasa Apsos.
