Recently, The Potter League took in a group of dogs that came to us in the aftermath of a heartbreaking significant hoarding situation. These dogs came to us in deplorable condition, their fur matted and their bodies ravaged by neglect. They were welcomed with compassion and love, groomed, and treated with urgent medical examinations. These sweethearts are figuring out their new surroundings, and albeit a little shy, they are quickly learning to trust the warmhearted staff and volunteers caring for them. They will require patience in their new homes, as they learn what living with tender affection and freedom feels like. We would like to introduce Chewy, a precious little one from this group of angels. In our loving and compassionate care, Chewy has warmed into a sweet dog with a wagging tail. He is quiet but playful, affectionate and full of kisses. He is going to appreciate a warm, caring home bursting with attentiveness and devotion. Adoption Donation   $    399              Located: New England     Age: approx   8   years old   Weight:  17 lbs (Needs to gain a few lbs) VISUALLY IMPAIRED Meet Kibo. This very sweet boy came to us from a local hoarding situation in deplorable condition. After a sedation grooming and plenty of TLC he's looking and feeling 1000% better! We think he's around 8 years old and a Lhaso Apso or a Lhasa Apso mix. When Kibo first came to his foster home he was understandably anxious! He didn't know how to do stairs, leash walking was a challenge, and he was fearful of walking on grass. Fast forward just a few weeks in foster care and Kibo has made amazing progress! He's great with other dogs and has used the other dogs in his foster home as role models, and he quickly was able to teach himself to go up and down a flight of stairs. He's getting used to enjoying the nice weather and time outside, and he's now walking beautifully on leash. And Kibo is very affectionate! He loves attention, snuggles, and cuddles, and he's also very food motivated which is certainly a plus in training. He's a smart boy and has quickly settled into the routine of life as a pampered pet and it's wonderful to see his tail held high and wagging. Kibo has seen the vet and his neuter is scheduled for May 16, but it's going to be a little more complicated because he's cryptorchid, meaning that one of his testicles is not descended. Kibo is going to need to stay in foster care until his neuter surgery is complete and he's fully recovered. He does have dry eye and had a terrible eye infection when he came to us. His eye infection has cleared up very nicely is clearing up and he's responding well to the daily eyedrops that he's going to need for the rest of his life. He is visually impaired in his left eye but does have better vision in his right eye. His skin was in poor shape but with good nutrition, high-quality flea protection, and a lower stress routine we think within a month or two he's going to be a gorgeous boy!  Kibo has been through a lot! Conditions in his previous living situation were just horrific. It's great to see him relaxed and happy. He has made huge progress with house training, and we are confident that he will be house trained with patience and consistency. It's important that anyone who is interested in adopting Kibo be aware that he is going to need regular grooming and daily eyedrops.
