Story
Soft fluff, gentle eyes, and the quiet charm of a dog who would rather love softly than make a big fuss… this is Waffle. At just 17 pounds, he’s the kind of little companion who brings a calm, cozy energy wherever he goes. Want to see this fluffy little gentleman for yourself? Head over to YouTube and then come right back to learn more about the boy who believes the best parts of life are soft toys, warm laps, and a home that feels safe. https://youtu.be/aaybwp6jqjI Waffle is estimated to be about 2 years old and weighs 17 lbs. Our best guess is that he may be a Maltipoo mix, though as always with rescue, breed and birthday are simply our best guess. In his foster home, Waffle lives in the midst of a busy, loving household that includes a variety of dogs, cats, and an 11-year-old child. He has settled into the rhythm of family life beautifully and is described as an easygoing, playful little presence. He enjoys toys, likes to play once he feels comfortable, and is happiest when he can simply be near his people and part of the everyday moments. He would be a wonderful fit for a calm home where the toys are plentiful, play is frequent, love flows freely and lap-dog love is welcome. With other dogs, Waffle is polite and thoughtful when meeting them and tends to take his time before jumping into play. Once he’s comfortable though, his playful side comes out and he enjoys toys and bouncy fun with his canine friends. He seems to appreciate other dogs who respect his space and let friendships develop naturally rather than rushing him. Waffle is a sweet souls, which means new environments and unfamiliar people can feel overwhelming at first. When he is in a new setting, similar to when he arrives at his new home, he may go slow but in no time he will show just how much he leans on the comfort of people. Once he has a chance to settle and feel safe, his soft side comes out and he is happy to climb into a lap and accept affection. With a little patience and time to warm up, he will show the sweet, affectionate personality his foster family knows so well. Because of that sensitive nature, Waffle will likely do best in a home where introductions to new people and situations can happen at his pace. A home with a yard or quieter environment will help him feel secure while he continues building confidence. With gentle guidance and consistency, dogs like Waffle blossom into incredibly devoted companions. What his foster family already sees every day is the real heart of Waffle, a soft, loving little dog who enjoys toys, appreciates gentle company, and thrives in a home where he can feel safe and understood. Once he knows you’re his person, he happily settles in close and lets that sweet personality shine. If you’ve been hoping for a fluffy little companion with a tender heart and a gentle spirit, Waffle might just be your perfect match. Story
Meet Chino! Chino is a 4-year-old Maltese looking for a calm, patient home where he can be someone’s one and only. This little guy is learning what it means to be loved and cherished — and while he may be shy at first, once you earn his trust, he’ll give you his whole heart. Watch his video here and come back to read more about him! https://youtu.be/7dnuzhZ3kR4 Chino is still getting used to affection, so he needs someone who understands that trust takes time. He would thrive with a single person or older adult who has prior dog experience and can offer consistency, quiet, and love. Once he feels safe, he’ll be your faithful lap dog — content just being near you. He walks well on a leash, is treat-motivated (especially when cheese is involved!), and is working hard to be on his best behavior to earn your affection. Chino lives in a home with small dogs like him and BIG dogs too. He is a not playful with any of his foster dog brothers. He prefers to lay in bed with his person and lap up all the affection and love. When his foster dad comes home he runs up to his leg and paws for attention. If you have a soft heart, a patient spirit, and an open lap, Chino may just be the loyal companion you’ve been waiting for. The adoption fee is a donation to the mission and goes far beyond getting a fully vetted pet.    The rescue’s hard costs alone (excluding transport) for a healthy dog to go through our program typically range between $412 to $859, which includes boarding, food, medications, vaccines, and spay/neuter. Additionally, dogs requiring extended boarding, extra training, or extra medical care—such as dental work, vision care, or orthopedic care—can lead to expenses running into the thousands. Also, included in the adoption fee are costs to cover transport up to the Pacific Northwest or East Coast. Transport is a significant additional expense to the rescue.  While adoption fees help cover part of these expenses, we want to emphasize that the rescue does not receive government funding and must fundraise to offset the remaining expense balance which ranges $100-1,000++ per animal on these direct costs.   It doesn’t stop there! Story
11 lbs. 9 years old. Neutered. Microchipped. House broken. About Eddie(aka Eggnog): Eddie is a fun loving and silly. His left ear operates independently of the right just adding to his unique charm and personality. He LOVES long walks, adventures and car rides. He’ll do almost anything for a treat. Mr. Independent also loves to nap on your lap (when he decides), sleep on the biggest dog beds, and take over the sofa. Eddie requires: Time, patience, love and space to learn about his new home, develop trust and feel safe. A transition period may be required. Someone who listens to him as he communicates his needs through his behavior. Eddie should be the only pet in a quiet home with no children or grandchildren that are living in or frequently visit. Loud noises scare him. Reassurance is key. Your commitment: A wire crate, two vet grooms a year, maintaining medication (probably for the rest of his life), specific food for his allergies and digestion, and a seat belt for car rides. More importantly Eddie needs someone who is willing to maintain the behavior expectations, programs and professionals that have been established. Consistency and regularity give him that sense of safety he needs. He will need more teeth removed in the future. Eddie’s Background: This lovely 9 year old man has experienced a significant amount of trauma. He has learned to trust and feel happy again. A home life is his dream and desire. He is not afraid of hard work. Wow, he has come far since being in foster care.Eddie has a bite history based on fear not malice. He will still lash out if he feels triggered. On a rare occasion he will still have a nightmare and wakes unsettled. He will find his bearings and calm himself. He needs to have the space to undergo this self directed program. You and Eddie will continue to figure out triggers as life unfolds. You will be given a handbook of Eddie’s training successes and things he continues to work on. Eddie’s success depends on your openness and willingness to maintain his current lifestyle as much as possible and love him completely for all his joys and flaws. If you are interested in Eddie , please go to our website and fill out a statement of interest. ##2249906##
