Story
Missy (f) is a beautiful Maine Coon mix who found herself living alone and in need of a new person to love when her senior, human dad passed away. She will take a minute to warm up to you but will quickly become your best friend. Missy is 5 years old and the perfect age if you are looking for a kitty who is playful but not high energy. She is talkative but not excessively. Missy also has perfect potty manners. Our gorgeous fluffy lady has lots of love to give to the lucky person or family who adopters her. We think Missy would do best in a quiet home as an only fur companion. ##2357057##

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Online  Adoption Application THE FOLLOWING CAT IS BEING CARED FOR IN A LOVING MCR FOSTER HOME. *Clarisse & Kringle are siblings. It would be great if they could be adopted together, but it is not required.* Meet Kringle! He came into the rescue with his sister, Clarisse. They are both "mini Maine Coons Mix Cats".  When they were kittens, Kringle and Clarisse were kept in a crate, all alone in a basement. They were not handled or socialized; when they arrived at the rescue, they might as well have been wild animals. However, volunteers have had tremendous success transforming Kringle from an extremely distrustful, terrified cat into a nice boy who enjoys pets and soaks up attention! Kringle is still "working on himself," so he needs an adopter who has experience owning cats and is willing to proactively socialize him. Kringle loves having his neck and cheeks scratched-- it puts a big grin on his face! He likes napping on the desk, preferably snuggled up to you. He sleeps on the bed with his people and has even started creeping up to enjoy a warm lap! Kringle is submissive around other cats, but has made friends with a few of his housemates. He doesn't assert himself during playtime, but if there is no competition, he plays gleefully with his rainbow ball and chases anything that wiggles. Kringle is not suited to a household with children. Due to his lack of socialization, Kringle gets overstimulated and will nip at hands. Kringle remains cuddly for longer and longer periods of time, so we are hopeful that when he feels secure in a home of his own, he won't be prone to that behavior. Kringle needs an adopter who is patient but also assertive. Kringle and Clarisse cannot be left to hide and decompress like most cats. They will not "come around in their own time." Kringle's owner must be willing to keep him in a room (or a large enclosure) with *no hiding spots* for several weeks. Ideally, his owner will spend long periods of time in the room, quietly in his presence, playing, and petting him. This "exposure therapy" has worked really well for Kringle, especially because he loves being petted so much! Kringle and Clarisse's foster parents are happy to help strategize and guide their new owner/s through the socialization process. During this time-- and always-- the adopter must be committed to using only positive reinforcement. (Remember, yelling or punishment of any kind teaches cats to be afraid of you; they do not connect your actions to something they did.) Help Kringle continue to grow into the loyal, friendly companion he was destined to be, before he became a victim of neglect. Though his past made Kringle a little complicated, with a bit of TLC, you can give him a future full of affection, trust, and love. Click here to learn more about Clarisse. Kringle's adoption fee is $200.00. There is a $25.00 discount for adopting a pair of MCR cats, so the fee for both Kringle and Clarisse would be $375.00.  Your adoption fee includes spay/neuter, FVRCP Vaccine, Rabies Vaccine, Combo Test (Neg/Neg), dewormer, flea prevention, microchip, and wellness visit.  For more information, contact Maine Coon Rescue at: adoption@mainecoonrescue.net. Online  Adoption Application THE FOLLOWING CAT IS BEING CARED FOR IN A LOVING MCR FOSTER HOME. *Clarisse & Kringle are siblings. It would be great if they could be adopted together, but it is not required.* Clarisse is a gorgeous girl with a big personality! She is a "mini Maine Coon Mix. She has cute little "turtle feet" and a rather unique tail. Clarisse looks like a sophisticated little munchkin, but she is a big-time diva! She loves to play and chase strings, and generally tear around like a wild woman. She enjoys being petted and has super-soft fur. Plus, she has the sweetest, breathy meow that sort of sounds like, "hey."   When she was a kitten, Clarisse and her brother, Kringle, were kept in a crate all alone in a basement. They were not handled or socialized; when they arrived at the rescue, they might as well have been wild animals. However, volunteers have had tremendous success transforming Clarisse into a sociable kitty that naps next to her people, no longer afraid to be a total diva! Clarisse still has some learning to do, so she needs an adopter who has experience owning cats and is willing to socialize her proactively. Clarisse is not suited to a household with children. Due to her lack of socialization, Clarisse can become overstimulated and will nip or swat at people. She is exhibiting this behavior less and less, so we have high hopes that she will not revert to this defensive behavior after she is settled in with a family she trusts. Clarisse needs an adopter who is patient but also assertive. Kringle and Clarisse cannot be left to hide and decompress like most cats. Clarisse is such a funny little girl who will steal your heart before you know it! Help her continue to grow into the outgoing companion she was destined to be, before she became a victim of neglect.
