Hiya, friends! My name is LOUI, and here is some information about me:

Current Location: S. KOREA
RESCUE STORY – I was rescued from a municipal shelter in Yeonggwang, Jeollanam-do. My rescuers don’t know too much about my background or upbringing, but I was pretty anxious when they picked me up. I was also quite underweight at the time of my rescue but have been enjoying yummy food since then, gaining a couple of healthy pounds as a result! With the excellent nutrition and care I’m receiving, I’m on track to get to my goal weight of 8-9 pounds
TEMPERAMENT – I’m a gentle, friendly little man who loves being around people! I’m comfortable with both men and women and have a sweet, outgoing personality, actively seeking out cuddles whenever I get the chance! Although I crave attention and companionship, I haven’t shown any signs of significant separation anxiety. I do, however, occasionally walk in small circles when I’m alone and have nothing else to do. I don’t usually do this when I’m with my puppy friends, on a walk, or am otherwise engaged, so my rescuers think it may be an anxiety-based behaviour. Because of this, I would do best in a loving home where ample interaction is available and I’m not alone for extended periods of time. Having another small canine companion in the home may help build up my confidence and keep me entertained, as well!
My Ideal Home/Adopter Would Be:
A calm, loving home where I’ll receive plenty of attention, affection, and companionship.
Someone who isn’t away from home for long periods and can provide lots of interaction throughout the day. A patient and affectionate family who will give me time to decompress and settle into my new life!
A home with a friendly small dog companion would be a wonderful bonus to help keep me company and build my confidence!
Someone committed to monitoring my weight and nutrition as I continue reaching my healthy goal weight.
ENERGY LEVEL – Low. I enjoy going out for my daily walks and playing with my pals, but am generally a pretty chill pup. A calm home environment that offers some mental and physical stimulation, along with plenty of affection would be ideal for a sweet guy like me!
GETS ALONG WITH:
Kids – Unknown.
Dogs – Yes. I get along very well with all sorts of pups, and enjoy playing and spending time with them!
Cats – Unknown.
PREY DRIVE - Unknown. I’m not too sure how I’ll react around squirrels/rabbits etc., so my adopter needs to be prepared and willing to train me through these behaviours, should they arise.
TRAINING:
Leash skills – Pretty good. My rescuers say I’m a dream to walk on leash! Check out this video of me strutting my stuff, hehe. A well-fitted harness and some dedicated leash training will help solidify my leash manners and set me up for success!
House trained – Work in progress. I’m comfortable living indoors, and currently use pee pads inside and know how to potty outside, as well! However, an adjustment period is to be expected once I arrive at my furever home. Frequent potty breaks and positive reinforcement will help me learn housetraining in my new home :)

HEALTH NOTES:
I am neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. I will come to Canada with proof of all my vaccines and test records.
I will be tested for Heartworm etc. before flying to Canada.
While I’ve gained some healthy pounds, I’m still a tad underweight. Ongoing monitoring with a vet as to my diet and weight will ensure I stay healthy and happy!
My front teeth are fairly worn down, which my rescuers think was caused by my biting on the metal bars in my crate back at the municipal shelter. I have also had quite a few teeth extracted by the vet here.
NOTE: It is not uncommon for rescue dogs to require dental work/cleaning after they are adopted. West Coast Paws does not cover the costs of dental work and/or vet visits. These costs are the financial responsibility of the adopter.
ADOPTION FEE:
My adoption fee is $728.00 CAD including tax ($650.00 + 5% GST, 7% PST), which includes my airfare, if a flight volunteer is found directly to Vancouver.
