Story
Hello!  My name is Archie.  Here is some information about me: Breed: Maltese Mix Age: 2.5 years old Gender: Male Weight: 12 lbs Height: tbd MEET ARCHIE At just 2.5 years old, sweet Archie has already experienced a side of life no dog should have to know. Archie was found abandoned at a well-known dumping ground for dogs in Southern California—a place where unwanted dogs are sadly left to fend for themselves. When rescuers found him, his coat was so severely matted that his poor little body had to be completely shaved. Beneath all that neglected fur was the sweetest little boy just waiting for someone to care. And despite everything Archie has been through, his beautiful spirit remains completely intact. Archie is a gentle, kind-hearted boy who loves both people and other dogs. He deserves to leave his difficult beginning far behind him and discover what it means to be truly loved, safe and part of a family. Now Archie is ready for the next—and best—chapter of his life. We are looking for an absolutely amazing forever family who will give this special boy all the love and happiness he deserves. Could that family be yours? Please share Archie’s story and help us find his happily ever after. I get along with: Dogs: yes Cats: unknown Kids: unknown Energy Level: tbd Fears/Prey Drive: tbd Training: tbd Leash Skills: tbd. Please be prepared to continue with my training. Housetrained: tbd.  Please assist me in learning where to go in my new home. Health: I am up to date on vaccinations, microchipped and neutered. My adoption fee is $850 CAD plus taxes.  This includes my transport to Canada. Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website, http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue. Information included in the profile is provided to us from the international rescuer or local fosters. LALDR does not have access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person adopting them and the environment in which they live. Please Note: LALDR highly encourages adopters to research some local dog trainers before their dog arrives. Although a 1-on-1 trainer is often not needed, it is good to have someone in mind in case any problematic behaviours arise. Most bad behaviours can be modified if caught early enough, so make sure to nip undesirable behaviours in the bud before they become serious problems. Basic training should be taken seriously but should not begin until your dog is well settled in - at least a couple of weeks. After you feel your new dog is relaxed and comfortable in their new home check out training courses in your local area. Even basic beginner courses like those taught at a local pet store can have a huge benefit in helping your dog learn to socialize and get used to being in public situations, all with the added benefit of strengthening their bond with you. The age and breed of a dog is usually an educated guess, so we are not able to guarantee the accuracy of age or breed of our dogs. Normally, we will not approve adoptions to homes with children under 12 years of age. However if the dog is shown to be good with children we will approve homes with children 8 years or older. More information can be found on our website.  While most dogs find escorting passengers flying directly to Vancouver, some will find flights through Toronto or  Montreal. In that case, additional fees will apply to fly your dog to Vancouver by cargo. Unaccompanied cargo costs within Canada range from $350 - $550 depending on the size of the dog. LALDR will be as transparent as possible with you regarding these costs. You will NOT be charged the passenger fee in addition to this. [MID EAST DOGS] *Vaccinations: Dogs from the Middle East are vaccinated for rabies, parvo, distemper, leptospirosis, adenovirus type 1 and para-influenza. Bordetella is not given, as that has not been a problem in the Middle East. ##2817837##

Hi I’m Lizzy, a 2-year-old mixed breed girl looking for my forever home. I was raised in a condo in White Rock, so I’m a wonderful indoor companion: quiet, respectful, and easy to live with. I learn fast, love being around people and dogs, and enjoy staying near my person wherever we go.Training & SkillsI’m treat-motivated and attended puppy training. I know my name, have excellent recall, can sit, down, wait and fetch (ball). I’m always excited to learn more.Exercise & LifestyleI’m an active dog who loves running, trails, off-leash parks, daycare, and road trips.Dogs, Kids & Other PetsI enjoy other dogs and have successfully stayed in homes with dogs and cats. No experience with children. I’ll need training & time for thisA Few Things to KnowSometimes I bark when overwhelmed on leash. My crate helps me reset. I’ve never bitten anyone.Could I Be Your Perfect Match?

TOFFEE APPLICATIONS PAUSED! We’ve received so many applications for Toffee, so we’re pausing new applications for now. Please check out our other adoptable dogs too — so many amazing pups are still waiting!   Meet Toffee — A Sweet, People-Loving Little Gentleman!   Name: Toffee Age: 7 years old Sex: Neutered Male Breed: Maltese / Poodle Mix Colour: Brown Weight: 3.8 kg (8.4 lbs) Height: 28 cm (11 in) at the shoulder   Rescue Story   Toffee was found wandering around an apartment complex and was brought to a municipal shelter. He is now looking for a loving forever home where he can enjoy plenty of affection and companionship.   Personality & People   Toffee is a very friendly and affectionate little guy who genuinely loves people. He happily approaches both familiar faces and strangers, rubs against them for attention, and is comfortable being touched and handled.   He can easily be picked up with an arm under his belly and will even show his belly to people he has just met. He’s the type of dog who would much rather be close to his humans than off doing his own thing.   With Other Dogs   Toffee will approach unfamiliar dogs to say hello, but he generally isn’t interested in playing with them. He definitely prefers people over dogs.   He can feel intimidated by larger or high-energy dogs and will usually avoid them. He also doesn’t appreciate dogs who repeatedly pester him to play, so a home where his personal space is respected would suit him best.   With Cats   Toffee’s reaction to cats has not yet been observed, but a cat test can be arranged upon request.   Energy Level   Toffee has a moderate energy level. He enjoys getting outside and being active, but after his outdoor time, he is happy to settle down and relax quietly.   Walking   Toffee is an experienced and enjoyable walking companion. He loves going for walks, follows his handler well, and generally walks nicely without pulling on the leash.   Other Behaviours   • No food guarding toward people or other dogs • Generally calm when placed in a kennel, but if he makes eye contact with someone, he may whine or bark to ask to be let out • Primarily does his business outdoors    Health Note:Toffee recently had a dental cleaning and 9 teeth extracted due to poor dental condition when he was rescued. He is currently eating dry kibble without any issues. Other than his dental condition, we have not been informed of any other health concerns at this time.   Toffee would be a wonderful match for someone looking for a small, affectionate companion who enjoys walks but is equally happy relaxing by your side. At 7 years old, he’s past the puppy stage and knows exactly what he loves most: his people. Apply to adopt or foster: https://adoptmekr.org  PLEASE ALSO VISIT OUR FACEBOOK AND INSTAGRAM! Story
Cocoa is the best little pup you could ask for. Despite the awful he has been through, his gentle personality shines through. Cocoa’s owner of 13 years passed away and the family didn’t want him. He found himself left at one of the Riverside County Campus’ completely confused. He was on the at risk list and local rescues were not interested. Our team simply could not leave him there. This old man deserved so much better. It was clear that he had been neglected for some time; he was emaciated and his teeth were rotted to the jawbone. It is one of the worst cases that we (and our vets) have ever seen. He had to undergo many extractions and his mouth had to be reconstructed in areas where the rot had completely infiltrated his gums and there was little to no gum left. Many teeth were just dangling. It’s incredible that he had survived the pain and deep infections. Despite the journey here and his recovery from that and the complex surgery; Cocoa continues to show us his will to live and his desire to love. His story was not over yet!
