It absolutely breaks my heart to have to rehome this sweet little girl, but because I am moving to an apartment and have too many dogs, I unfortunately do not have a choice. She weighs 5 pounds. She is a beautiful, all-white, 5-pound Maltipom with the sweetest, most lovable personality. She is potty trained, eats well, sleeps in her kennel at night, and is on a great daily schedule. She truly has the best little personality. She loves to play and have fun, but she is just as happy cuddling up with you and being your little lap dog. She is affectionate, adorable, and such a wonderful companion. This is an incredibly difficult decision for me because she is very loved. I want to find her an extremely loving, safe, forever home where she will be spoiled, cared for, and treated like family. Finding the right person or family for her is very important to me. ❤️

Story
Wayside’s Canine Behavior Center – I`d love to show off all the cool things I’ve learned at Wayside! Please arrive at the shelter before 4pm on our open adoption days to meet me! This dog is from a puppy mill situation. They will likely need time to adjust to home life. They have lived with many other dogs but have not experienced socialization with people and things like walking on a leash and doorways are challenging for many of them. Dogs from puppy mills can be difficult to housetrain, and adopters should be willing to be patient during this process. Crate training can be very helpful and also give the dog a safe place to call their own. It is also important to let them go at their own pace with building a relationship with their new family and limiting lots of commotion and visitors in the beginning is wise. They have not experienced life outside of the puppy mill, so things could be overwhelming for them at first. Patience and positive interactions are crucial. Aversive methods of training should be avoided. Puppy mill dogs are almost always treat motivated, so using that to build trust and teach new things is the way to go! Adopting a puppy mill dog can be extremely rewarding and the extra time needed to allow them to learn about life and love will be paid back in time!My Friends at Wayside say: - I’m smart and food/treat motivated.- New people and things make me a little nervous. Let’s take things slow! - I am enrolled in Confidence College. This is a program for dogs to build confidence and learn that the world is not so scary. My adoption comes with a free 30-minute private training session. - I am eligible for a Slumber Pawty, a 7-10 day in-home trial period. Please visit our website for additional information. My home needs are: - A fenced yard is a must for me! I do not know how to walk on a leash, so I need a secure area to go out for potty breaks.- I must meet other dogs in the home before adoption to ensure that we can be buddies. - I need a home with kids 6 years old and older since I tend to be nervous around new people and loud noises.- I must go home in an airline carrier of appropriate size. Please bring one with you or we do sell them in our retail store Whiskers and Wags.- For my safety, I need to go home on an anti-slip collar called a martingale collar. For your convenience, we sell them in our retail store, Whiskers and Wags.Hi there, I’m Chet!I’m a 3-y
