Story
This is Bianca and Brad, and they are ready to bring a whole bunch of joy and happiness into your house! Bianca and Brad are a bonded pair and must be adopted together. Bianca is a pit-mix, intact female (spay pending) that is around 2 years old and weighing 45-50 pounds, and Brad is a Maltese, intact male (neuter pending) that is around 2 years old and weighing 17-20 pounds. They both were found in October 2023 roaming near the Winston-Salem airport as strays and have been in our care ever since. While under our care they have been treated for fleas, ringworm and hookworm and have overcome all those issues and are currently on Heartgard preventative chews. Our intent was always to foster and help them find a new home and that's where you come in! Both dogs are very well adjusted to car rides, big time attention fiends, and they are both very good with people. They have not been around many other dogs and cats, but when they are they get very excited and want to play with them no matter what size. Bianca will try to jump on you to get pets (something we are trying to curtail) and Brad tries as well and will even try to jump on chairs or any other elevated surface to get closer to you. Bianca loves to play frisbee and fetch sticks, but only when she wants to. Brad tries to play alongside her but his size and speed don't really allow that to happen, so he'll sneak some pets in while Bianca retrieves the object thrown. On that note, Bianca gets a little jealous when Brad gets pets so she will attempt to butt her way in so as not to be left out, but it's not a vicious jealousy just one where she wants what he's getting. They both enjoy going on walks though we are working on better leash behavior. Bianca especially likes roaming and crossing paths and even steps over Brad, but he doesn't seem to mind. Brad will find a squirrel and fixate on it from half a mile away but after a little nudging he will forget it and continue onward. We walk them together because they are a bonded set and separating them (either on purpose or on accident) does seem to stress them if it's for longer than say 20 minutes. They do have a slight track record of chewing on things they are not supposed to however we are convinced this is because they are bored and need more face time with people, so adopters should be able to dedicate a lot of attentiveness to them in their new home. With their age and their temperament, they are definitely above average energy dogs but they do well inside or outside and would make a lovely addition to yours and your family's lives, and they would be very appreciative of you for giving them a second chance at a forever home! If you are interested in adopting Brad and Bianca, please complete an adoption application on our website at hsdavie.org
