Good with dogs,
Story
Thank you for your interest in dog who needs a new home.  Adoption can be one of the most fulfilling experiences in your life and especially in the life of your new canine companion. A note to those looking at CPR.  We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone.  Our job is to find those someone's.  Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog.  They come to us because they want to give a dog a home.  We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture.  While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face.  Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home.  We want to create furever families.  Our descriptions contain all that we know about this dog today.  We'll update as more information is known.  Are you looking to adopt within the next 30 days?  If so please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and complete the application.  You'll find it in the menu on the left hand side.  You'll also find a total listing of all our dogs available.  Just browsing but interested in poodles and poodle mixes?  Please drop a note to applications@carolinapoodlerescue.org with your name, address and phone # and email.  We'll add you to our mailing list. thanks the CPR Adoption team   Date into Rescue: 2/13/2025 Reason for being in rescue: Found as a stray Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Ethan is neutered, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. On 3/12/25 he had a dental polishing. Ethan has a grade 2/6 heart murmur. He is not currently on medicine but will need ongoing monitoring. Ethan has some mobility challenges, specifically in his back legs. He has been examined by our veterinarian and confirmed weakness and ataxia in his hindquarters, likely from an old injury (there was no radiographic evidence of the injury). He was given cold laser therapy. Ethan has difficulty working on slick floors and absolutely cannot do stairs. Full x-rays will be provided to Ethan's adopter. Weight: 11 lbs Height: 12 in Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $299 Fence needed? Yes - due to his back and leg issues, leash walking isn’t the most comfortable option for Ethan. Therefore, he needs a personal space where he can free roam, play with other canines and get exercise daily.  What kind of home would be best for me? Ethan is a handsome boy looking for a very specific home. First, Ethan requires another dog. He enjoys the companionship of having a lifelong friend, and here at the rescue it’s all he has ever known! He loves dogs that are equivalent in size and energy in comparison to him. Ethan needs healthy, moderate exercise to maintain a healthy weight and lifestyle, but he will NOT be placed in a home where he has to use stairs daily. Ethan has to be carried up and down stairs to prevent further injuries. He is a fragile boy, and stairs would be too much stress and danger for him. He also requires a fenced in yard and it doesn’t have to be extremely large. Due to his back and leg issues, leash walking isn’t the most comfortable option for him, therefore he needs a personal space where he can free roam, play with other canines and get exercise daily.  Our best guess is that Ethan is a maltese mix. Only a DNA test will confirm. Because he has a completely unknown past, we cannot guarantee that he is hypoallergenic or that he won't shed or cause allergy issues. What is my personality like? Meet Ethan - the world’s sweetest speed bump! This lovable goofball may have a little trouble walking around sometimes, and thinks stairs are an extreme sport! But what Ethan may lack in agility, he makes up for in pure heart! Ethan’s favorite activities include rolling over for frequent belly rubs, giving the most dramatic puppy eyes when he wants to be held, and being your #1 cuddle champion when treats are involved! Ethan is a pretty laid back dude, he doesn’t need much to keep him happy and entertained. He enjoys the sunshine, and simple things life has to offer. He will also not be placed in a home with children. He is fragile and needs a calm, laid back lifestyle.  Ethan requires another dog. Besides stairs, he has learned how to get around extremely well, and he doesn’t pay his silly little walk much mind. Despite Ethan’s quirks, he has no idea he’s slightly different from everyone else. Ethan wants to be loved, adored and chauffeured around like a VIP (Very Important Pup) just like any other dog! He is the consummate snuggler, nuzzling your hand to remind you he's there if you forget. If you’re ready for a best friend who’s all love, and no stairs, Ethan is waiting for you! How do I act when I first meet new people? Friendly Other tips and tidbits: Ethan was found as a stray, so we have absolutely no history on him. Based on his overall health and condition he is estimated at 8 years old. We celebrate his birthday 2/7/2017! House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. Please note - we do not ship dogs.  If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip.  Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina.   To apply, please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application. Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home.   You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc.  Others here may be a better fit for you.  It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description.  Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a  dog not in our listings yet.  We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you. Thank you for considering CPR. March 24, 2025, 8:12 am

Story
Nick is a happy 1-2 yr old Maltese mix who weighs about 11 lbs. Nick is playful and fun but is not hyper.  He does love to race around the backyard for a few minutes each day.  He is good at entertaining himself in the house but also would let you throw a toy for him for as long as you are willing.  Nick sleeps very well in his crate overnight.  He would enjoy another small dog who likes to play gently but would probably be too much for a senior dog.  He is good for baths and grooming and has such an all-around nice demeanor.  He is very fast around doorways, so he is best suited for a home where his family can use barriers to block him from open doorways. He is not a dog for a senior citizen.   Nick is crate-trained and doing well on house training but not completely house-trained. He squats when he pees, so he is a young dog and not a "marker." Nick could be an only dog or have another dog under 15 pounds in the home.   The adoption range for this dog is limited to NC, SC, VA and East TN.  If you are interested in adopting this dog, contact h2hadoptions@gmail.com.  There is an application process and adoption fee.  WE REQUIRE AN ALL-ADULT HOME WITH A SECURELY FENCED YARD. The secure fence must be 4ft or higher, with gaps no greater than 2 inches, and attached to the home - meaning you have an inside door that opens into the fenced yard. An invisible fence, enclosed patio, terrace or deck, temporary fencing, dog pens or dog lots or community shared fencing (dog park) are NOT considered secure fencing. If your fencing has "puppy pickets" (or is supplemented with garden fencing) it needs to be at least 36 inches high from the ground up AT THE LOWEST POINT. No exceptions.  We are an all-volunteer organization, and in addition to saving dogs, we have other responsibilities, so we appreciate your patience and understanding during this process. Response time can take up to 5 business.  Please inquire only if you are willing to come to Greensboro, NC to meet the dog after we schedule your home visit. We do not ship dogs or put them on transports.  Veterinary Care: All Hart-2-Heart Rescue foster dogs are spayed/neutered, current on heartworm prevention, parvo/distemper, bordetella, and rabies vaccines, and are professionally groomed. As needed, our foster dogs have teeth cleanings, extractions, bloodwork and other diagnostic testing.  Adoption Fee: $500March 10, 2025, 5:32 pm

Story
Beya is a 2 year old, 15 lb. Maltese/Poodle mix. Beya had a very rough start in life and is now learning to trust people and how to be a dog. This sweet girl just needs some time and patience to come out of her shell and trust again. But she is well worth the wait! Once comfortable, Beya will cuddle up next to you and is so snuggly - it's precious to watch! Beya is blossoming in her foster home and has mastered crate and potty training. She does well with her routine and hopes to continue it and be successful in her forever home one day! Beya is still learning that leashes aren't so scary and is enjoying walks in her neighborhood. She also has enjoyed the company of her calmer foster dog sibling and will wake her up to play in the morning! She would love to find a home where she is either an only pet or has a calm, patient canine buddy to play with! Beya does have a lot of energy when she gets comfortable and loves to run around and play in her yard. She is loving these fun new things her foster mom calls "toys" and enjoys the plush and squeaky ones the most! They are so fun to play with and snuggle with and she hopes her forever home will have lots of them she can enjoy! Beya can't wait to find her happily ever after and grow up with a family who will cherish her and bring out the best in her! Comprehensive details are provided in the dog's description. to ensure a smooth process, please submit a completed application through our website at: http://crisisdogsnc.org/dog-adoption/. Please note that questions via email or social media channels may not receive a response without a completed application. As part of our commitment to responsible adoption practices, we require excellent veterinarian references and conduct virtual home visits. Additionally, your prior or current dog must be on year-round heartworm prevention. We provide transportation by both land and air whenever feasible. All assessments regarding breed and age are conducted by licensed veterinarians. We look forward to assisting you in finding your perfect canine companion!March 10, 2025, 9:20 am
