Story
I have had Milo since he was a little pup in 2023. He is over two yours old and is about turn three. He was born and adopted late summer early fall. He listens very well to directions. He walks without a leash, does not wonder fare, and returns quickly when called. He is shy and timid around new people, but it does not take long for him to warm up get comfortable. He is good with kids but because of his size he can become easily overwhelmed, especially with children he does not know and are crowding him. He is well tempered and will create distance to gain personal space when he is overwhelmed. He is a long fur breed but he hardly sheds. You will have a hard time finding his fur around the house or on your cloths if he lays on you. He does not normally bark but he will alert to you if someone is approaching the door. At adoptions he will come with a create, two dog beds, a month supply of dog food, and his medical records.

Story
Connor is a 2 year old, 10 lb Maltese/Shih Tzu mix who’s looking for a fresh start with an owner who understands the meaning of lifelong companionship! Quick Facts: Name: Connor Breed: Maltese/Shih Tzu mix Age: 2 years old Weight: 10 lbs. House-Trained: Almost there, does well with consistent potty breaks! Crate-Trained: Yes Good with Dogs: Needs to be an only dog, but he’s fine meeting dogs on his daily walks! Good with Cats: Not tested, but open to a meet and greet! Good with Kids: Not tested, but open to a meet and greet! Energy Level: Medium Fence Required: No Dog’s Location: Charlotte, NC About Connor’s Breed: Our best guess is that Connor is a Maltese/Shih Tzu mixed breed. Maltese/Shih Tzu mixes are known for being affectionate, people focused, and wonderfully adaptable, blending the Maltese’s gentle sweetness with the Shih Tzu’s sturdy, friendly nature. They’re small in size but big in personality, often forming deep bonds with their humans and thriving on companionship, routine, and cozy lap time. With their bright minds and loving temperaments, they make excellent indoor companions who fit beautifully into many lifestyles. Their ideal home is one that offers steady attention, gentle structure, and regular opportunities for short walks and exploration. Because they’re so people oriented, they do best with owners who enjoy having a dog close by and can provide consistent potty breaks and daily interaction. Whether in an apartment or a house, a Maltese/Shih Tzu mix shines in a calm, attentive environment where they can feel secure, cherished, and part of the family. What to Love about Connor: Connor is a happy, affectionate little guy who loves walks, sniffing adventures, car rides, and cozy lap time. Condo or apartment living suits him perfectly, and he doesn’t need a fenced yard as long as he gets his daily outings. Connor is crate trained, happily goes inside on his own, eats his meals in his crate, and can be crated for up to three hours. He’s working hard on his potty training and makes great progress with regular breaks throughout the day. He sleeps soundly, whines when he needs a nighttime potty trip, and enjoys napping and being close to his humans. He’s great with all people he’s met and would likely do well with older, respectful kids. While he gets along with some dogs on walks, Connor prefers to be the only dog at home due to resource guarding and territorial behavior — he’ll growl to let other dogs know he wants his space, but he’s wonderful with people. He hasn’t met cats yet but is open to a meet and greet. With moderate energy, good leash skills, no issues with bathing, and the ability to navigate stairs and hop onto beds with ease, Connor is an easy, loving companion who’s ready to be cherished as the center of someone’s world! Connor’s Captivating Highlights: • 2 year old, 10 lb MaltiTzu looking for a fresh start and lifelong commitment • Happy, affectionate companion who loves being held and cozy on your lap • Best as an only dog due to territorial and resource guarding tendencies • Apartment or condo friendly and doesn’t need a fenced yard • Crate trained — goes in on his own, eats meals in his crate, and can stay crated for up to 3 hours • Working on potty training and improving quickly with regular breaks • Great with all people and likely good with older, respectful kids • Enjoys walks and exploring with good leash skills and occasional pulling near other dogs • Easygoing with grooming and has no issues with baths, stairs, or hopping onto furniture • Moderate energy with a love for napping, companionship, and rolling in the grass on warm days Comprehensive details are provided in the dog's description. to ensure a smooth process, please submit a completed application through our website at: http://crisisdogsnc.org/dog-adoption/. Please note that questions via email or social media channels may not receive a response without a completed application. As part of our commitment to responsible adoption practices, we require excellent veterinarian references and conduct virtual home visits. Additionally, your prior or current dog must be on year-round heartworm prevention. We assist with coordinating transportation by both land and air whenever feasible. All assessments regarding breed and age are conducted by licensed veterinarians. We look forward to assisting you in finding your perfect canine companion!July 3, 2026, 2:48 pm

Story
Kobe is a 3‑year‑old, 9‑lb Maltese mix with a sweet, semi‑Velcro personality and a gentle, loving nature!   Quick Facts: Name: Kobe Breed: Maltese mix Age: 3 years old Weight: 9 lbs. House-Trained: Almost there (does sometimes mark) Crate-Trained: Almost there! Good with Dogs: Yes (can get jealous and want your attention) Good with Cats: Yes Good with Kids: Yes – hasn’t met young children though Energy Level: Low Fence Required: No Dog’s Location: Mebane, NC   About Kobe’s Breed: Our best guess is that Kobe is a Maltese mixed breed. Maltese are known for being affectionate, gentle, and deeply people‑oriented, often forming strong bonds with their families and thriving on companionship. With their soft coats, bright expressions, and sweet temperaments, they make wonderful lap dogs who love being close, whether that’s snuggling on the couch or following you from room to room. Despite their small size, they’re lively, attentive, and enjoy short daily walks and light play.   Their ideal home is one that offers consistent affection, calm structure, and plenty of together time. Maltese do best with families who appreciate a close‑bonded companion and can provide regular potty breaks, gentle guidance, and a predictable routine. Whether in an apartment or a house, they shine in environments where they feel secure, included, and cherished as part of the family.   What to Love about Kobe: Kobe’s adjusted beautifully in foster care and quickly showed his soft side — sleeping with his humans, following them around, and soaking up every bit of affection he can get! He has been wonderful with older kids and would happily meet younger ones too. He’s great with other dogs both at home and out around town, though he can get a little jealous when they get attention. He’s easily redirected, and honestly, who can blame him for wanting all the love!   Kobe is mostly potty trained but still working through some marking, and he’s doing well with his crate training. He can be left home alone without being destructive, and he’s been excellent with the cats in his foster home. With a lower energy level, Kobe enjoys his daily neighborhood walks and does well on a leash. He hasn’t shown much interest in playing yet, but as he continues to come out of his shell, he may discover how fun toys and games can be. At his core, Kobe is a sweetheart — gentle, affectionate, and ready to be someone’s true love and loyal companion!   Kobe’s “Kool” Highlights: 3‑year‑old, 9‑lb Maltese mix with a gentle, loving personality Semi‑Velcro sweetheart who loves sleeping with you and staying close Great with older kids and open to meeting younger ones Dog‑friendly at home and around town, with mild jealousy that’s easily corrected Cat‑friendly and respectful of feline housemates Mostly potty trained and working through some marking Crate trained and non‑destructive when left alone Lower energy with a love for calm companionship Good on a leash and enjoys daily neighborhood walks Sweet, affectionate companion ready to be someone’s devoted little love   Comprehensive details are provided in the dog's description. to ensure a smooth process, please submit a completed application through our website at: http://crisisdogsnc.org/dog-adoption/. Story
Check out this patriotic little guy!   Meet Baxter! If you're searching for a loving new family member, your search ends here. Baxter is a 12-pound, 2-3-year-old Malti Tzu (a Maltese and Shih Tzu mix), and he embodies all the best, sweetest traits of both breeds.  Ater a few days in his foster home, Baxter found his voice.  Yes he has that Maltese trait.  For this reason, Baxter is not suited to apartment life.   Baxter was found as a stray in Nashville after someone suspected he’d been hit by a car and brought him to the emergency vet. Thankfully, there were no broken bones, but he is currently healing from a sore back leg. (He’ll have X-rays taken when he’s neutered on 7/7.) We wish Baxter could tell us what happened and how he ended up on his own—it’s hard to imagine any family not wanting such a sweet boy.   Baxter is both a people-lover and a dog’s dog! He loves to play and would thrive with a young, active canine companion in his forever home. He adores people and always wants to be by your side—be prepared to never be alone again! His sore leg doesn’t slow him down; he still jumps on the furniture to be with his foster mom whenever steps are available.   This young gentleman walks well on a leash and is fully housebroken. He loves going on adventures and rides like a champ in the car—he even prefers the back seat, though he’s happy on a passenger’s lap, too! Baxter is the perfect companion for trips to the park or visits to dog-friendly restaurants and shops.     To learn more about bringing Baxter into your family or to request an adoption application, please email Vivienne at vivienneajames@gmail.com or text 615-943-7311. Don’t wait—this sweet boy won’t be available for long!  July 2, 2026, 11:31 pm
