Story
Thank you for your interest in dog who needs a new home.  Adoption can be one of the most fulfilling experiences in your life and especially in the life of your new canine companion. A note to those looking at CPR.  We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone.  Our job is to find those someone's.  Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog.  They come to us because they want to give a dog a home.  We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture.  While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face.  Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home.  We want to create furever families.  Our descriptions contain all that we know about this dog today.  We'll update as more information is known.  Are you looking to adopt within the next 30 days?  If so please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and complete the application.  You'll find it in the menu on the left hand side.  You'll also find a total listing of all our dogs available.  Just browsing but interested in poodles and poodle mixes?  Please drop a note to applications@carolinapoodlerescue.org with your name, address and phone # and email.  We'll add you to our mailing list. thanks the CPR Adoption team   Knox Vintage Pet ProjectDate into Rescue: 3/24/2024 Reason for being in rescue: owner surrender to a Tennessee shelter and pulled by our partners at Knox Vintage Pet Project who then transferred Oldham to CPR Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs?  There is a lot - see other tips and tidbits. Oldham is a little old man with a lot of little old man issues (cataracts, a heart murmur and he had a mass on his back we had removed) but he's got of love to give.   Weight: 9.3 lbs - he needs to gain up to about 12 lbs.  He's skinny Height: 10 in Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $1 I am priceless - while donations are appreciated for our care of Oldham, what we want most is to find him a home.   Fence needed? No What kind of home would be best for me? Chill, slow, easygoing, porch sitting, netflix watching no hurry type of home.  Oldham likes it laid back and quiet.  Stop and sniff the roses with Oldham and he will be happy.  Oldham would also like a lap, some soft pats and rubs and a lot of time with his human.   Oldham would fit in a lot of circumstances where the dog is a part of things without being overly dramatic about any of them.  Are you young, work from home and need a quiet office buddy?  Buy Oldham a soft bed, stick it under your desk, and he'll have lunch and coffee with you every day.  Are you retired and want someone to take out ? Get Oldham a stroller and off he'll go, getting you out of the house and him, too. Oldham just goes with the flow.   What is my personality like?  Sweet old man.  Oldham has been there and done that.  He's got no reason to prove himself anymore.  He is retired and loving it.  He just want to hang out now and watch the world go by.   How do I act when I first meet new people?  Gentle and affectionate Other tips and tidbits:  We are uncertain of his exact birthdate so the shelter assigned him the birthday of 3/24/2014. However, given his age and his activity, I think he is much older.  My best guess is about 14 yeas old. Oldham has a lot of old age medical issues.  He has cataracts.  They do not slow him down but they are there.  He has a 3/6 heart murmur that is very close to a 4/6 and takes vetmedin to help support his heart.  His dose is 1.25 mg twice per day.  Vetmedin is available at 1800petmeds for  $55 for a bottle of $50 so his cost per day for his dose is about $2.50 per day.  He had a mass removed from his back and during the surgery, his heart rate slowed.  He responded well to a medication called atropine and bounced back but we're going to be very careful about ever giving him any more anesthesia.  He is as healthy as we can get him and now it's time to find someone to love him, fatten him up and let him live his best days with you.     House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. Please note - we do not ship dogs.  If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip.  Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina.   To apply, please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application. Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home.   You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc.  Others here may be a better fit for you.  It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description.  Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a  dog not in our listings yet.  We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you. Thank you for considering CPR. April 27, 2024, 12:00 pm

Story
This bonded pair is described as laidback and loving! They enjoy the fenced yard and love sleeping on comfy dog beds and furniture in their foster home. Denali is around 20lbs and 8 years old! They have been very well mannered and house trained! They love ear and butt scratches, and belly rubs. Whimsy will give you all the wet kisses but Denali isn’t a kisser. They currently live with 8 other dogs, but they prefer each other’s company best! They are both spayed/neutered, microchipped, and on monthly flea and tick prevention. Their combined adoption fee is $300. Apply today at mpravl.org !  All Mountain Pet Rescue (Asheville) animals are up-to-date on vaccinations, spayed/neutered and micro-chipped before adoption. Contact the foster parent or Mountain Pet Rescue at pets@mpravl.org for more information. Please note that visual breed identification of companion animals has been proven to be unreliable, so for most of our animals we provide a best guess at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our animals as an individual and do our best to describe and place pets based on personality not breed label. Mountain Pet Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit tax deductible charity (EIN 82-3039637) located in Asheville, NC. April 27, 2024, 6:24 am
