Story
According to her foster, Millie is a spitfire! Fortunately, she is very small so she isn't bouncing off the furniture or chewing up your house. She loves other little dogs and doesn't bother the cats that she lives with. She is very active and playful and loves to drag around toys. She is crate trained, sleeps through the night, and loves to go outside. She is pee pad trained but seems to prefer to potty outside. She walks on a leash for a time, but then looks at you with her sad eyes (what an act) so that you will pick her up. She does have a hind leg that she sometimes limps on and sometimes uses. She can go up and down stairs but sometimes needs help coming back up. She will go anywhere with you. She will alert you with a few barks when there is a disturbance in her universe. What a fun little dog! She is estimated to be between 5-7 years old and recently had a full dentalFOCCAS is a foster based, non-profit rescue in Crossville, TN. Story
Meet Lucky – 17 Years Young and Ready to Steal Your Heart ❤️ At 17 years old, Lucky has earned the title of distinguished gentleman. This sweet Maltese has spent a lifetime perfecting the art of being a loving companion, and now he's searching for the one thing every senior deserves—a peaceful, forever home filled with love. Don't let his age fool you. Lucky may move at a slower pace these days, but his heart is as full as ever. He loves cozy beds, gentle pets, quiet companionship, and simply being near his favorite people. If you're looking for a loyal friend who is happiest curled up beside you, Lucky may be your perfect match. About the Maltese The Maltese is a small companion breed known for its affectionate, gentle, and devoted personality. They thrive on human companionship and often form incredibly strong bonds with their families. Despite their small size, they're full of personality and love being involved in daily life. As a senior Maltese, Lucky enjoys a calm environment and predictable routine. Like many older dogs, he may nap more often, appreciate shorter walks, and enjoy taking life one comfortable moment at a time. Lucky's Ideal Home A quiet, loving home where he can relax and enjoy his golden years. Someone who enjoys spending time with a faithful companion. Soft beds, gentle affection, and a consistent routine. A family willing to provide the patience and love every senior dog deserves. Caring for a Senior Dog Senior dogs have unique needs, but they give back so much in return. Lucky may benefit from: Regular veterinary checkups to help monitor age-related health changes. A nutritious diet appropriate for senior dogs. Comfortable bedding to support aging joints. Light daily exercise to keep him mobile and happy. Grooming to keep his beautiful Maltese coat clean and healthy. Plenty of love, patience, and quality time. Older dogs are often already house-trained, have settled personalities, and are past the high-energy puppy stage. They simply want a safe place to call home and someone to love. Adoption or Forever Foster Lucky is available for both adoption and our Forever Foster Program. Adoption means welcoming Lucky into your family as your own for the rest of his life. If you're unable to take on the financial responsibilities that sometimes come with caring for a senior pet, our Forever Foster Program is a wonderful alternative. You provide the love, comfort, and home Lucky deserves, while our organization helps cover approved veterinary care and ongoing medical needs. It allows compassionate people to give a senior dog a family without facing the full financial burden. Why Senior Fosters Matter Senior animals are often the ones most overlooked in shelters and rescues, even though they have so much love left to give. By fostering or adopting a senior like Lucky, you're giving him something priceless—a chance to spend his remaining years surrounded by comfort, kindness, and people who care. For many senior pets, a loving home means less stress, better health, and the opportunity to enjoy every day as part of a family instead of waiting in a kennel. Whether that time is months or years, it becomes a life filled with warmth, dignity, and love. Lucky's Wish Lucky isn't asking for much. He doesn't need grand adventures or endless toys. He simply dreams of a soft place to sleep, gentle hands to pet him, and someone who will love him through his golden years. If you've ever thought about opening your heart to a senior dog, Lucky is waiting to show you that some of life's greatest blessings come wrapped in a little white coat with a wagging tail.

Story
Crimson is being fostered in VA. Crimson is blind and has kidney disease. Crimson Update – April 1, 2026: Crimson has settled into his foster home, making friends with his foster parents and the four other blind dogs who live in the home. He now knows all about evening sofatime with his foster mom and the other pups, and, after a belly and head rub, takes a nap. He is doing a great job learning to go up and down the two steps from the deck into the yard and then back into the house again. And, with the warmer weather, he likes to take a quick roll in the grass when he goes out to do his business. Crimson does have dry eye now, so is on daily Optimmune (eye ointment). He does a very good job at medication time. For more information about this sweet boy, read what his foster home wrote about him in February 2026. See below. Crimson is a friendly little guy who loves belly rubs! If you would like to know more about this special pup, read on! Crimson is from Florida. His family could no longer care for him and so they turned him over to the Blind Dog Rescue Alliance. He traveled to his Virginia BDRA foster home in January 2026 and made friends all along the way. Crimson has settled into his foster home quite well! There are four other blind dogs in the home and Crimson gets along just fine with each of them. He is happy to share a bed and doesn’t mind if a dog bumps into him. He ignores the family cat. At night, he settles easily into his bed and sleeps through the night. He is housetrained – not a single accident yet! He has a deep bark and, when he first arrived, he barked fairly often but now that he is learning the routine, he barks only occasionally (usually when anticipating a meal!). As mentioned, he loves belly rubs and he enjoys head rubs too. He also likes toys. Crimson is blind, diagnosed with SARDS several years ago. SARDS (Sudden Acquired Retinal Degeneration Syndrome) is a condition that causes rapid and irreversible blindness due to changes within the retina. In addition, he arrived at his foster home with ear infections that are in the process of being treated. He hears well though and he doesn’t let his blindness bother him at all. His eyes are currently healthy although he does have some clear discharge at times. Crimson also has been diagnosed with kidney disease/kidney failure along with high blood pressure. He is on a prescription kidney diet (Purina) and also on Benazepril twice a day. We don’t know all the details about Crimson’s medical history before he arrived at his foster home and – as is true with any rescue dog – we can’t predict what the future holds for his health. Anyone interested in adopting Crimson should first speak with their vet about canine kidney disease so there is an understanding of this disease, its progression, and how it is treated. Crimson has not spent time with children and, although he is such a nice dog, he should be adopted into a home with older children or adults only. And he should always be supervised when he is with young children, as all dogs should be. If you think you can provide this sweet, gentle dog the wonderful forever home he deserves, complete an application today! BDRA has voted against the use of electrical fencing effective immediately.
