PLEASE READ ENTIRE POST AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION - COTTON BREED - Maltese SIZE - About 10 pounds AGE - 1 year GENDER - Male MEDICAL CONCERNS - None known BEHAVIOR CONCERNS - None known SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS - Cotton is a perfect dog! Not only is he adorable, but he is super sweet and very loving. Found as a stray and never claimed, we were super happy to spring him from the shelter, get him groomed, provide him with veterinary care and help him to begin a new life. This little guy is quiet and calm and would be best suited to a home that is the same. We require a home without larger pets or small children, and because Cotton is a young dog, we are seeking a home with an adopter young enough to provide him a stable lifetime in a home with securely fenced yard for safe play time. We are looking hard to find a home with an adopter who is at home a good bit of each day, or who works from home. This young fellow thrives on consistent companionship! Fully grown at just 10 pounds, Cotton is a perfect size for most laps! He is in good health, neutered, microchipped, and fully vaccinated. Our adoption process starts with your email to carerescue@aol.com or Adopt a Pet inquiry. After we receive it, we will email you our prescreening questionnaire. Your answers will help us determine that your home and lifestyle matches the needs of the dog and our adoption criteria. Once determined, we will set up a private meeting with you and the dog at a park near our private kennel just east of Richmond. After meeting the dog and determining that it matches your preferences for a pet, we will accept your application. A home visit by one of our trained volunteers is required for all adoptions, and we will speak with your vet to ensure that you are a responsible pet owner. Story
Teddy was my Grandmothers dog. She passed away in April of 2023 and we refused to have him go to a shelter, so my Mother has taken him in to care for him. She has two large dogs though that don't get along with small dogs, so having to keep them separate and rotate them all day is taking a toll on her. He is a great dog for an older person or someone with older kids. He's very laid back and prefers to sleep most of his day next to you. Teddy has a slight wobble when he walks which the vet said is due to old dog syndrome and isn't bothering him. Some eye drainage that we try to keep nice and clean. He wasn't house trained when we took him in but has improved tremendously in the last few months. Looking for a home to give this sweet boy some love in his last years. Estimated to be between 9-11 years old, but we think he may be on the upper end.

She saw the vet for a sick appointment on Saturday for a possible ear infection. We will get her vetted and cleaned up ASAP then post her photo and more information. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Update on Missy: Missy visited the vet office on Wednesday for a full exam, and a quick groom. We were afraid she might need to be sedated due to her reluctance to be handled, but we understand that was not necessary, and she made it through her entire exam without any loss of human fingers or dog flesh. She has been prescribed an antibiotic to take to clear up her skin infection due to hair loss from a supposed flea allergy. She is looking pretty good now. Her coat is coming back in. We are recommending another week or two in foster care before we decide where she should be placed. Her foster dad is giving her plenty of time. She does not like to be picked up, and will try to bite. However, she is doing much better in the handling category as far as allowing, touching on her face, ears, and even her belly. Definitely, no small children for her, but she is good with other dogs and even good with cats. We feel she needs a quiet home with lots of consistency, someone who will not be in and out frequently, or have lots of strangers entering the house. We look forward to finding out more about her as the days pass.   PLEASE NOTE: This pet has been posted by Friends of Campbell County Animal Control, Rustburg, VA. For questions about the pet, please email us at FOACinfo@gmail.com.
