Story
Hi, my name is Remy🤍 I’m a male Maltipoo, weighing about 7kg (15 lbs), and I’m just 1 year and 6 months old — still very young. I was rescued from an animal hoarding situation. More than 80 dogs were crowded into a tiny space where it was hard to breathe. There was no one to protect me, so I had to protect myself. Every day was filled with anxiety. Every moment felt like competition. In that environment, I had to become strong simply to survive. Thankfully, I was rescued and brought to a shelter. After my health check, everyone was surprised — my body is miraculously healthy. But some of those difficult days still live quietly in my heart. Despite my past, I have a beautiful personality. I love people, I’m very affectionate, and I deeply crave human touch. In new or unfamiliar environments, I may be a little cautious at first. I’ve never lived alone before, so I may show signs of separation anxiety, and situations where I feel confined can cause intense fear. Because I spent so long having to defend myself, I may show defensive behavior toward smaller dogs, especially if I feel pushed aside. However, I do not show this behavior with dogs larger than me. For this reason, I would do best in a home: ✔️ with a larger dog than me, or ✔️ as the only dog, where I can receive focused love and reassurance. Everything about home life is new to me — living indoors, going on walks, and sharing daily life with people. I’m learning all of this for the very first time. I’m only a year and a half old. Still so young. I’m looking for a family who will teach me with love, wait patiently when I make mistakes, and gently say, “It’s okay.” I’m no longer a dog who needs to survive alone. Now, I deserve a life where I’m loved — not just enduring. Please take my paw and help me begin a life of love. I’m waiting for my forever family 🤍

Story
Meet Sushi (aka Sushi Boy) 🍣🐾 Sushi is a 5-year-old Maltipoo weighing 7 pounds, with a big heart and an even bigger love for kisses and belly rubs. He’s a sweet, quiet little companion who adores one-on-one attention and bonding time with his person. While he’s good with kids, he truly thrives when he can soak up individual love and affection. Sushi enjoys short walks, lots of naps, and playing with his toys, especially chewing on them. He’s been spoiled since birth and is used to a comfortable, loving environment. He’s very low-maintenance, calm, and well-suited for a relaxed household. He is fully potty trained and crate trained for both bedtime and when left home. High-value treats are especially helpful for continued training. Sushi doesn’t mind other dogs but prefers to do his own thing and may be shy at first. He enjoys his personal space like when sleeping and can be territorial if food is taken away, so a calm, respectful home that understands boundaries would be good.

Story
Meet Rudy Rudy is a 10+ year old senior Mini Poodle, a breed beloved for being bright, affectionate, and deeply people‑focused. He's living proof that age is just a number, this little guy still has plenty of pep in his step and a joyful outlook on life. Rudy arrived with us as a stray, so much of his earlier story is unknown. What we've discovered since then is a dog who thrives on companionship and connection. He's sweet, cuddly, and playful; and he truly shines when he's spending time with his people. Rudy enjoys toys, regular walks, and any chance to be involved in whatever his humans are doing. To make sure Rudy is feeling his best as he prepares for his next chapter, he recently had a dental procedure (thanks to the generous support of our donors) along with senior bloodwork. His mouth is now comfortable, and his overall health has been carefully checked, setting him up for success in a loving forever home. As with any senior dog, adopters should be prepared for some ongoing veterinary care and potential future medical expenses that can come with giving an older dog the love and support they deserve. Training & Support Rudy has shown some signs of separation anxiety, which isn't surprising given how much he values human companionship. He forms strong bonds and prefers not to be left behind. He will do best with gentle, reward‑based guidance, clear routines, and reassurance to help him feel safe and secure. With patience and consistency, Rudy can continue building confidence and learning that time alone doesn’t mean he’s been forgotten. Ideal Home Rudy would thrive in a home where he can enjoy lots of affection and company. A household where someone is home much of the time, or able to help him gradually adjust to short periods alone, would be a great match. He’d love daily walks, chances to play with toys, and plenty of cozy cuddle spots. While he may need a little time to settle in, once he does, Rudy promises to be a loving, loyal companion who brings warmth, joy, and plenty of snuggles to his forever family. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- All adult dogs at Animal Services have veterinary health checks, and are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, dewormed and defleaed (if necessary) before going to their new homes. Children: Yes Cats: Maybe Dogs: Yes Training Needs: Separation Anxiety Adoption Fee: $119 If you live in the City of Vancouver, you will also need to purchase a dog licence.
