The moment her kennel was opened, she came straight out and into the rescuer’s arms. Since then, she has been staying at our partner shelter. She’s healthier now and slowly putting on weight.PersonalityJet is a sweet, cuddly little girl. She burrows into your arms whenever she wants to be held, which is most of the time. Her favourite things are food and cuddles, and she’d be happy to be in your arms all day long. New people, places, and things make her happy and excited, not nervous. She may give a few happy barks, then walk right up to you and ask to be picked up. Her energy level is moderate. Loud noises scare her, so a calm home will suit her well.CompatibilityJet loves people. She greets strangers with a wiggle and asks to be held right away. She’s just as friendly with men as she is with women. She has spent time with preschool children and did well with them. As with any dog, time with children should be supervised, and parents should take full responsibility for teaching both their children and their dog how to interact safely. There’s no spot on her body she minds being touched.Jet loves running and playing with other dogs, but she can get a little jealous at times. She also has a very big appetite and doesn’t like other dogs coming near her while she eats. This likely comes from her past. As the smallest dog in the hoarding situation, she had a very hard time getting enough food to survive. It’s best to feed her separately so she can eat in peace without feeling stressed. Before her rescue, Jet lived in a home with many cats, so cats won’t be new to her. We haven’t seen how she gets along with them, though, so a slow, gradual introduction, plenty of patience, and enough space for each of them to have their own retreat would be important.Behaviours & TrainingJet uses pee pads indoors. She’s still practicing walking on a leash and harness. She’s well behaved at the vet and easy to handle for baths, nail trims, and brushing. She knows “sit” and “wait.” She loves chewing on her toys. She’s happiest when she can eat and play with her toys close to her human. She may bark briefly when guests arrive or when she hears noises outside. When she’s left alone, she paces and waits by the door, so she may have some separation anxiety during the adjustment periods. A home where someone is around most of the day, along with short practice absences that slowly get longer, will help her feel secure.Health & DietJet is spayed, dewormed, microchipped, and up to date on all her vaccinations. She also gets monthly parasite prevention. Right after her rescue in August 2026, she tested positive for canine coronavirus and had some hair loss and skin problems. She was treated for all of these and is doing well now, with no skin or digestive issues. She’s scheduled for a dental cleaning soon. She has no known allergies. She has passed the veterinary screening and is healthy and ready for a forever home.Jet is still gaining weight, so she currently eats three meals a day, with some puppy food mixed into her kibble. She hasn’t shown any food allergies or sensitivities so far.Ideal HomeJet would be happiest as the only dog in a home where someone is around most of the day. She’s sweet, smart, obedient, and gentle with people, so first time dog owners are welcome too. Someone who is retired and has lots of time to spend with her would be a great match. She doesn’t ask for much, just love and lots of snuggles.Jet has already come a long way, from a very sad hoarding situation to a happy girl who runs into every open pair of arms. She’s ready for a family who will keep holding her.
