Story
Purebreds Plus Cat Rescue is helping facilitate the adoption of this cat through our Owner Placement Program. We take no responsibility for the health and medical records of this cat. It is the responsibility of the owner and adopter to discuss this.
Simba is NOT in a Purebreds Plus Cat Rescue foster home, but residing with my current owner in Fair Oaks. Adoption fee applies.
7-year-old purebred Highlander (SBT 10 / Stud Book Tradition)
Simba is a stunning golden spotted short-hair Highlander from one of the breed’s founding lineages. With his sleek, wild-looking coat, compact 10-pound frame, and signature curled ears, he often draws “Is that a bobcat?” compliments wherever he goes. Don’t let his small size fool you — this boy is a high-flying acrobat. One second he’s on the floor, the next he’s launched himself to the top of the refrigerator, then the highest cabinet, and sometimes even strolls across the top of the slider door blinds like it’s his personal catwalk.
He’s incredibly smart and has excellent manners once he knows the rules. Simba is a pro at using his scratching post — especially when a treat is involved! He’ll happily demonstrate his skills, then look at you expectantly as if to say, “See? I’m a good boy!” If you forget the reward, he’ll politely repeat the performance until you remember.
At first meeting, Simba can be shy. He’ll observe you with those big, round, expressive “ET” eyes (minus the wrinkles) and take his time deciding you’re safe. Once he warms up, he’s a sweet, quiet companion who loves to play. His absolute favorite toy is a dehydrated rabbit ear — he throws it in the air, catches it, “kills” it, and guards it like precious prey. He also goes crazy for homemade dehydrated chicken breasts and will camp out by the dehydrator hoping for first dibs.
Simba lived harmoniously with cats and even dogs in the past, but a traumatic experience with a German Shepherd left him nervous around dogs. He also recently had to be separated from an aggressive male cat in his home. He adored daily “kitty soccer” sessions with his late Maine Coon buddy and clearly misses having a playful friend. He would thrive as an only cat in a calm, adult-only home, or even better, with one or two young, friendly, non-aggressive cats his size who want to wrestle and chase with him.
Ideal Home:
Quiet, adult-only household (no children) with patient people who will respect his initial shyness and give him time to blossom. A home where he can claim high perches and have safe playtime. He does best with calm, respectful feline friends or as a cherished solo cat.
Health & Care:
Healthy, on no medications. He eats a high-quality diet including raw chicken blend, Royal Canin kibble, and wet food. He’s not picky and maintains a perfect weight.
Simba is a gentle, intelligent, and entertaining little guy who just needs a peaceful environment and the right companions to shine. He’s ready to bring his bobcat charm and playful spirit into a loving forever home.
