Story
Meet Chica! A gentle and graceful four-year-old Anatolian Shepherd mix from Altadena, CA, whose soul is wrapped in a stunning tricolor coat and whose heart is just waiting to meet a new loving family. At 77 pounds of plush charm, Chica is the kind of dog who might start off a bit shy but give her a little time and a few belly rubs, and you'll uncover her affectionate, goofy side! She’s got a special fondness for chewy toys and will gladly flop over for tummy time, flashing that look that says, “You know what to do!” With medium energy and a calm nature, Chica is happiest when the day includes a walk, a trip to the dog park, and a cozy nap nearby someone she trusts. Chica is house-trained, spayed, microchipped, and fully vaccinated—ready for her next chapter! She knows “sit” and “stay,” and while she hasn’t had formal training, she responds well to gentle guidance and a consistent routine. She’s great with young kids and gets along well with other dogs, making her a sweet and safe companion for a family looking to add a second pup or start their pet parenting journey. Loud noises and windy days can make her a little uneasy, but give her a calm, secure space and she'll settle in just fine. She's totally okay being left alone for short stretches, so whether you're working from home or have a regular 9-to-5, Chica can adapt to your schedule—especially if it includes time to sniff around the yard or trot through the neighborhood. She thrives in a home with outdoor space and a caregiver willing to keep up with her walking routine. While we’re not sure how she does with cats, her gentle nature hints that, with a thoughtful introduction, she might just add “feline friend” to her resume. Ready to share your heart (and your chewy toy stash) with this sweet soul? Chica’s tail is wagging at the thought! To learn more or to adopt Chica, reach out to adopt@joyfulpets.com—she’s waiting to meet her new favorite humans!

Story
Hi! My name is Tomo, and I am waiting to be matched to my forever home! I was rescued from the dog meat trade in South Korea by the DoVE Project. My fate would have been to live in fear and distress, watching dogs being led to slaughter for human consumption. DoVE Project heard about me, and now I am looking for my forever family! ID/NAME: CARE23-054 / Tomo SEX/WEIGHT/AGE: Male / 60.6 lbs / 8 years BIRTH DATE: April, 2017 BREED: Golden Retriever SPAY/NEUTER/VACCINATIONS: Spayed. Vaccinations complete. Health/physical characteristics: Tomo has had 11 teeth removed. He has his four canines still in place. Scratch marks on his nose most likely due to being stuffed into cages when moved from farm to farm. Double dew claws on each hind leg - common for the Great Pyrenees breed! BEHAVIOR: Tomo is. quiet and polite 8-year-old Great Pyrenees mix. He was once someone's pet but somehow ended up in the hands of a dog meat trader. He was rescued in 2022. We're very happy that he is now living a life free from fear, hunger, and thirst. He is still finding his way, after keeping to himself but with each day he becomes more trusting of humans. While he may need some extra care and attention, we do not doubt that the bond he will share with his forever family will be very special. He loves the company of little dogs and is always happy to provide a warm fluffy place for nervous dogs to lean against. SIBLINGS/FAMILY: Unknown BACKGROUND: When Tomo was rescued, he was unhealthy and severely malnourished, requiring veterinary care. After receiving care, he seemed to revel in being clean, having meals, and in living in better conditions. ABOUT JINDOS Jindos are known for their fierce loyalty, high intelligence, rarely barking, and playful nature. They make great indoor family dogs, as Jindos are clean and easily housetrained, and are faithful to family members. They are also mid-level active and love being socialized at dog parks, going on hikes, and joining the family on trips. ABOUT OUR DOGS DoVE dogs come from a traumatic background such as dog meat farms and slaughterhouses. While many of our dogs acclimate within a few months with consistency, structure, and patience, some of our more sensitive dogs can take longer to rehabilitate. It's important to note that these sensitive dogs are even more attuned to human emotions and behavior, making for a deeper connection human-dog connection. DoVE Project is committed to helping our adopters desensitize and socialize our dog meat trade survivors. ********************************* DoVE Project operates a shelter in South Korea, where our dogs stay until they are matched with an adopter. In the US, our dogs stay in foster homes or in boarding, as we do not have a physical facility. These dogs are identified with "in LA" in their names. Please note that we only adopt our pups in the Southern California area. Please check our website for more information regarding our adoption process, our mission, and adoption application: https://www.dove-project.org/adoption-process If you are interested in adopting, please complete an online application at: https://www.dove-project.org/adoption-application-form.

Story
RODEO HAS GOTTEN ALONG WITH DOGS WE HAVE INTRODUCED HIM TO THAT ARE HIS OWN SIZE. PROPER INTRODUCTION WOULD BE NEEDED TO EVALUATE IF HE'S GOING TO GET ALONG WITH AN EXISTING DOG IN A HOME BUT BECAUSE OF HIS SIZE AND STRENGTH, WE BELIEVE HE WOULD BE A GOOD MATCH FOR A DOG HIS SIZE. APPLICANTS MUST LIVE IN THE CITY OF LOS ANGELES IN AN ADULT-ONLY HOME (NO APARTMENTS) WITH A PRIVATE YARD. RODEO is the definition of a Rhinestone Cowboy! Not only does he have stunning good looks, but his DNA results prove that he is quite a unique gem of Great Pyrenees/Aussie/Border Collie. Our rescue has been working with a certified professional dog trainer to help us get to know Rodeo and set him up for success. Rodeo is an incredible dog that would do best with an adopter that has experience with the large working breeds and structure in the home. He would not be a good dog for a first-time dog owner. Mostly comprised of Great Pyrenees, he has the potential to be protective of his family. He doesn’t know his own strength and size at times, so we have been working on him staying calm and focusing on his handler. Because of Rodeo’s grand stature, he would require a home with a yard (NOT AN APARTMENT) and no small children that he could inadvertently knock over or small pets. Rodeo estimated date of birth is January, 2019. He is neutered, vaccinated and microchipped and whoever is lucky enough to adopt this rooty tooty cowboy will get an in-home dog training lesson as part of his adoption. Now that’s something to YEE-HAW about! --- If you are interested in adopting Rodeo please fill out our adoption application by clicking this LINK. Applications are required PRIOR to meeting one of our animals and are used to set up a safe and successful adoption. Please don't be shy and answer the questions thoroughly. To learn more about our entire process please visit www.therescuetrain.org and click on the "Adopt A Dog" page. PLEASE NOTE: WE DO NOT OWN A FACILITY. Our animals are in private foster homes. If you are interested in adopting one of our animals please fill out our online application. Or check our mobile adoption schedule on our home page. *APPLICANT MUST BE AT LEAST 21 YEARS OLD* *APPLICANT MUST LIVE IN THE CITY OF LOS ANGELES* INTERESTED IN ADOPTING? Story
66 pound Katie is a MAGNIFICENT dog. She gave birth in the shelter to 5 puppies. We rescued the whole family. Katie just loves life. She is very people oriented, loves other dogs and is perfect with kids. She is a dream on the leash and beyond extraordinary. She has gone to many places with her foster. Lunches, dinners, brunch and to the office. Everywhere she goes she steals the hearts of everyone. Her tail is exquisite giving her even more personality than she already has. Katie is only 2 years old and would flourish in an active family. All dogs in our program are up to date on all their shots, spayed or neutered, and micro chipped. Our dogs are in foster homes which enables us to learn more about them in a home environment. We do not place dogs on a first come first serve basis, but rather to the home best suited for them. An application, adoption fee and contract are required. Please direct all questions to adopt@crdogrescue.com. All our dogs can be met with an approved application. Thank you for looking at a rescue dog for your next family member.

Story
Meet Oliver... another absolute exquisite example of majestic beauty. Oliver was rescued from an extremely high kill animal shelter in Kern County. This boy is living with 3 dogs. He is great with the females, but can get in squabbles with the male shepherd. We are suggesting that he goes to a home without another male dog. Oliver is a leaner, a cuddle and all around amazing boy. He walks well on leash, is super ez going. He is under 2 years of age and will make any family gush. Oliver weighs around 85 pounds. All dogs in our program are up to date on all their shots, spayed or neutered, and micro chipped. Our dogs are in foster homes which enables us to learn more about them in a home environment. Story
Once upon a time, in the heart of Los Angeles’ Skid Row, a lonely dog wandered the streets with no one to care for him. Dirty, tired, and hungry, he kept moving until one day, he quite literally stumbled into a stranger and collapsed at his feet. The man knelt down, gently offered him food and water, and in that moment, something changed. The dog had found kindness. No one knows exactly how old he is maybe about a year but what we do know is that he’s become kennel trained, adores fruits and vegetables, and most of all, craves love and attention. He’s a gentle soul with a big heart, just waiting for someone to love him back.

Story
Gom is a 7-year-old neutered male Great Pyrenees mix with a gorgeous white coat, weighing 38 kg and standing 60 cm tall at the shoulder. He was rescued from the Wanju City Shelter in October 2022 and has been charming everyone he meets ever since! While Gom can be a little shy at first, his love for treats quickly wins him over, and it doesn’t take long before you can give him gentle pets. It takes a bit more time and trust before he’s comfortable being hugged or lifted, but once that bond forms, he’ll happily allow bathing and handling. With his big, sturdy build, Gom isn’t the biggest fan of being picked up with arms under his belly — but really, who can blame him? When it comes to other dogs, Gom is a bit of a lone wolf. Having spent most of his life in group living environments, he tends to prefer keeping to himself rather than playing with others. He’s not very interested in making new doggy friends and can feel uneasy around bigger or high-energy dogs. Gom hasn’t been around cats, but we do know he likes to chase after birds when he spots them, so a careful introduction would be important if a feline sibling is in the picture. With a low energy level, Gom is happiest when he’s lounging and taking it easy. On walks, he usually strolls slowly and calmly, but when excitement kicks in, he might pull a little and break into a happy trot. He can be a bit stubborn about wanting to choose his own path, but he’s still very manageable with a confident handler. Gom is not protective of food around people but may growl if another dog approaches while he’s eating — he does love his food, after all! He’s generally quiet, only barking occasionally if he’s feeling especially hungry and wants to let you know. He prefers doing his business outdoors and is overall a calm, gentle giant ready to find his perfect match. ##2377740##
