Story
Sunnie was surrendered through no fault of her own and is ready to brighten someone’s life—just like her name suggests! This sweet, affectionate girl absolutely loves people and did amazing with kids and strangers alike, happily soaking up pets from anyone willing to give them. She also does very well with other dogs and was polite on walks, mostly ignoring other dogs and people she passed. She did good with goats. Sunnie is not cat friendly; a cat-free home is a must. Sunnie knows how to sit, is crate trained, and did well riding in the car. She walks nicely on a leash, though she may occasionally pull. She’s a gentle, loving dog who would make an excellent family companion. She is fairly quiet overall—the foster reported hearing her bark only once—but she can be vocal through whining, especially when she wants something. Sunnie prefers the outdoors and would thrive in a home with plenty of land. While she would sleep inside, once awake she wanted to go right back outside and would whine until she could. She has some separation anxiety and doesn’t like being left alone. She’s also quite athletic—able to poke her head over a fence and capable of jumping a 6-foot fence if motivated—so a secure setup is important. She can be mouthy if grabbed by the collar, something to keep in mind for handling. Sunnie is spayed, fully vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, heartworm negative, and on prevention. With the right environment—space to roam, a secure yard, and a family who understands her needs—Sunnie would be an absolutely amazing dog and loyal companion.
