6 years old. Six years of heartbreak, neglect, and being failed by the very people who were supposed to love him.
And somehow, JJ still has one of the biggest hearts you’ll ever meet.
JJ’s life started in a drug house. He was stolen, passed from person to person, and eventually ended up living on the streets and in filthy abandoned houses with a woman struggling with addiction.
He spent an Ohio winter chained outside to a doghouse too small for him. He was starving, neglected, and so desperate for food that he would escape just to steal cat food from neighbors’ porches.
And when things couldn’t possibly get worse… they did.
After his owner was arrested, JJ was abandoned in a garbage-filled house, where his canine companion was tragically found deceased in a bathtub.
JJ was found alive. Starving, neglected, and completely failed by the world around him.
A compassionate police officer refused to give up on him. When JJ’s future became uncertain and his time was running out, she reached out for help.
And that’s how JJ made his way from Ohio to our rescue in Florida.
Despite everything this dog has endured, he is STILL one of the most loving, gentle, and affectionate souls you’ll ever meet.

🐾 MEET JJ!
JJ is a 6-year-old gentleman with a little bit of puppy left in him and a WHOLE lot of couch potato.
He’s an old soul who enjoys lounging around the house, soaking up affection, and being your very best companion.
But don’t let his laid-back personality fool you! This handsome boy still enjoys playing and occasionally gets a wild hair and shows off his zoomies around the yard!

❤️ Friendly with calm, laid-back female dogs
❤️ Cat friendly, but curious! Dog-savvy cats preferred
❤️ Loves men and women, but definitely has a soft spot for the ladies!
❤️ Enjoys walks, playing, and being a professional couch potato
❤️ Best suited for a home with children ages 10+ who are comfortable around large dogs
❤️ Would prefer a home without frequent visits from small children
JJ is truly the best of both worlds. He’ll happily join you outside for some fun, but he’s equally content spending the afternoon lounging beside you.
He’s not asking for much. Just someone to love him, a comfortable place to sleep, and the promise that he’ll never be abandoned again.
JJ has been searching for his forever family for quite some time now.
And it absolutely breaks our hearts that a dog who has already spent so much of his life being unwanted is STILL waiting for someone to want him.
He has survived starvation, abuse, abandonment, freezing winters, and losing the only canine companion he had.
He deserves to spend the rest of his life knowing nothing but love.
