Story
Meet Waylon! Waylon is approximately 8 weeks old and is a mixed breed. He has physical traits that could mimic American Staffordshire Terrier, Mastiff & Hound-type mixes, but without a DNA test we cannot know for sure. Waylon is, in a lot of ways, a typical puppy! He is curious, adventurous, spunky, playful and eager. He's still at the "infant age" where he naps quite a bit, so as much as he may seem "mellow" right now, we want to remind adopters that the toughest age range is that 5 month - 2 year range, which is when they're more active, naughty, and need more exercise, enrichment and training. We are asking all interested parties to consider the challenges that come with that part of a dog's life before considering a baby like Waylon. Because of his young age, Waylon is not yet fully potty trained. That being said, he's good about using his outdoor run in our shelter to potty, and keeps his sleeping area clean so far. He is currently provided with lots of toys of different textures to help stimulate his puppy mind during his chewing phase(s). We do recommend utilizing a crate in his new home so that Waylon can continue with potty training, and your home can be kept safe from all of the other puppy phases that may be troublesome ;) Waylon should do well around other pets & children as long as everyone is properly introduced and supervised. Owners with young children should remember that puppies like Waylon do not see young children as their leaders, they often see them as their equals...so rough play and biting is common with kids. Waylon's ideal family would be one who is active, involved, and fully prepared to help guide Waylon through all stages of his life. There are always unknowns when it comes to puppies this age, but the right family will love him no matter what comes with his growth! If you're looking to add this fun bundle of love to your family, follow the link below! We are doing all meet n' greets BY APPOINTMENT ONLY after an adoption application has been generally approved: https://monroecountydogshelter.com/apply-adopt.htmlWaylon has begun his puppy shots series. *Because Waylon is too young to be neutered, his adopters will need to provide proof of a pre-paid neuter at their vet* His adoption fee is $240.
