Story
Eyes that will break your heart. Meet Lucius, formerly Shuppo.  Lucius is a senior boy we pulled from Harris County, and the second we walked by his kennel he stopped us all. There was a sadness in his eyes you could truly feel. He cowered in the corner, yet still wagged his tail at us. He wanted love so badly even after everything he had been through. We noticed a note on his kennel card that made us ask questions. What we learned broke our hearts. After his owner passed away, Lucius was reportedly beaten by officers responding to the home. Why this happened, we will never understand, but what we do know is that Lucius never deserved any of it. His body tells a hard story. He is skinny, missing fur, and has a large scar around his neck from a heavy chain. But despite it all, Lucius is still trying to trust people again. He looks at you with the sweetest eyes and softly wags his tail, hoping someone will show him kindness. Lucius is going to need a patient foster willing to move slow and let him learn what love and safety feel like again. He does well with other dogs and would absolutely benefit from a calm, loving home with another pup. If you’re interested in fostering this handsome boy, please let us know. We would love to give Lucius the second chance he has always deserved.  Visit www.scoutshonor.org September 11, 2026, 8:06 pm

Story
I am a sweet, shy young man who was abandoned by my owner and Loving Arms stepped up to keep me off the nasty streets. I do have a tendency to drool. I get along with other dogs but am not sure about cats. Bring in your dog and let’s see if we can make a good match. Got both of my ACLs fixed and am a HAPPY boy with lots of energy! I’d love to take a walk with you on my new knees and show you how well I am walking now.

Story
MEET "KOA" MARYLAND LOCATION: MARYLAND EMAIL: BigPawsK9FosterHouse@GMAIL.COM AVAILABLE FOR: **COMING SOON** NOT QUITE READY FOR ADOPTION BUT WE ARE TAKING APPLICATIONS. NAME: "KOA" DOB: JANUARY 2023 BREED: ANATOLIAN SHEPHERD X SPANISH MASTIFF GENDER: MALE SIZE: EXTRA LARGE HEALTH: GOOD GOOD WITH: OTHER DOGS, CATS NOTES: Koa is one of eleven dogs rescued from a heartbreaking case of abuse and neglect. One breeder pleaded to 22 counts of animal cruelty and the other was convicted on 22 felonies and 59 other misdemeanors. Koa came to us quite literally on the brink of death. But his incredible will to live carried him through, and today, he’s a strong, curious, handsome boy trying to understand the world around him. While his body has healed, some of the emotional scars remain. Koa is still learning to fully trust his environment, and his journey is very much ongoing. He has good days and harder days, sometimes one step forward, two steps back, but he never gives up, his curiosity keeps him achieving. You will keep that forward momentum with lots of reinforcing praise. A simple no will suffice as correction for this big boy. He doesn’t have a mean bone in his body but his bark is impressively loud. This has to be a consideration should you choose bring this love bug home. What Koa wants most is love, attention, and treats from his own human. He gets along with other animals but most important to him are his people. He is curious, and gently playful when he really trusts. He will do best with someone who gets down on the floor with him, to brush him, give him lots of belly rubs and has patience when he gets scared. He is not afraid of thunder, the vacuum, or the leaf blower at home. But he is learning to deal with mechanical noises and voices coming from elsewhere. Koa is independent. While he may prefer to sleep alone at night, he will want your 100% attention first thing in the morning, even before he goes outside, this boy wants to bond with you. He can be left alone in the house and shouldn’t be crated. He’ll find a smaller room or other spot for his alone time. He can go up and down stairs, go through a dog door, and knows basic commands, but he is on his own timeline. Koa is proof that even after unthinkable cruelty, healing and hope are possible. ------------------------------------------------ Ground transport assistance may be available within 1K miles depending on where you live and the availability of volunteer drivers along the route.
