Story
Popeye's previous owner passed away and now it's up to us to find his forever home! He's a senior gentleman who needs a quiet home for his twilight years! Popeye had gone into a short term foster so we could find out what he's really like. Here's what his foster mom said: "If you or someone you know has been dreaming of a dog who brings peace, not chaos, read on. He’s the kind of dog who looks at a brisk cold morning and says, “Ah yes… perfect, let me go contemplate life in the yard for a bit.” He’s a laid‑back outdoor enthusiast who would thrive with someone who enjoys fresh air, slow walks, and a companion who’s happy to just be by your side... Farmer? Gardener? Porch‑sitter? Homebody? He’s your guy. Inside the house, Popeye is the definition of a polite houseguest. He doesn’t chew your belongings or raid your trash, and sleeps through the night like he’s got a full agenda in the morning; although, he will take the opportunity to drink from your toilet with zero shame. He’s not clingy, but he’ll follow you from room to room secretly judging your life choices. When it’s time to head out for a walk, he keeps that same mellow energy strolling along like he’s browsing all the baked goodies at our morning farmers market, taking in the sights, never pulling, never rushing. Popeye is just a big, ol' gentle, cold‑loving guy who’s ready for his next chapter. He’s not old and done...but he is done with all the antics a younger dog might bring you!" Popeye loves EVERYONE of all ages, but does not like other pups or kitties! Eligible under our 🌟𝕤𝕖𝕟𝕚𝕠𝕣 𝕕𝕚𝕤𝕔𝕠𝕦𝕟𝕥 𝕡𝕣𝕠𝕘𝕣𝕒𝕞🌟 where all of our senior animals 8+ y/o may be adopted for a discounted adoption fee! Instead of $175, fees for our senior pups are reduced to $125! Story
What his previous foster mom has to say: "Astro is eager to please! He has adjusted well to his foster family's feeding and bedtime routines and is house trained. He knows which toys are for him and which toys are for the kids (i.e., not for him). He is learning how to greet people without jumping on them. He does well when visitors come over. He is working on crate training. DOGS: He also did well with his German Shepherd foster sister. He didn't know how to play with another dog at first, but then she taught him how to play. He loves to play now! They would play together, look out the window together, and snuggle on the couch with each other. When she died unexpectedly in December (health issue), Astro comforted his foster family with his calm, affectionate, snuggly, goofy, presence. CATS: He will guard you, your house, and your yard from cats. He doesn't bark often, but when he does, it's probably because he sees a cat! ENERGY LEVELS: Astro is low energy, but still playful. He enjoys tug-of-war, playing "monkey in the middle," playing chase, and chewing on toys/sticks. He gets the zoomies, especially after playing outside or when he's enjoying sunshine. He plays well with his foster parents and their 7-year-old son. CARS: He is calm in the car (although his foster family has noticed that he gets motion sickness when he's in the far back of their SUV). He enjoys going on adventures with them just to be near them. OVERALL: Astro is a lap dog and snuggle bug. He is happiest when foster mom can snuggle him most of the day on the couch or bed. He enjoys giving and receiving affection, but does not overly lick or give kisses to people who don't prefer it. He is very thankful and appreciative of attention, food, treats, and cozy spots to sleep/lounge in." updated 02/11/26
