This handsome boy is Mickey. He has a unique and loving personality which has grown so much! Mickey is a very sweet and laid-back boy! He likes small dogs but recommends no big dogs in the household. He needs time to warm up to people (be patient) but as soon as he does, they are his friends, and he will go up to each one for attention. He prefers a house with only adults. He is looking for his family and a fantastic yard to run around in! He is being fostered in Virginia Beach, VA. Story
Katie is a 2 year old female spayed long haired Dachshund mix. She was brought into the area by another not so reputable “rescue” known for flipping dogs. We do not know where they got her from and they are now not interested in having anything to do with her. They adopted her out to a family and when she bit one of them while they were trying to give a HW pill they decided they didn’t want her anymore. The family tried to return her to the other “rescue” but they refused to take her back because “she’s a biter” and told them to take her to Animal Control. That’s where we came in. We were contacted by Animal Control asking if we could help her because she was a sweet but nervous girl. Of course we said yes. She has been wonderful in her current foster home. She was nervous when she first arrived but has never tried to bite. She does get a little overwhelmed if around too many dogs but she has adjusted well. She would do well as a single dog or with a calm dog as a housemate. A hyper dog might stress her too much. Katie is crate trained and house broken. She does cry some in her crate but she is getting better. She’s very affectionate and loves her person. She does need work on her confidence and social skills but she’s getting better every day. Because of her “bite” history and nervous nature we feel she should not be in a home with children under 12 yrs of age. Katie is ready for adoption and needs a dog savvy person that will work with her fears and help build her confidence.
