Miniature Dachshund puppies and dogs in Virginia

Meet Louie, my sweet 2-year-old long-haired black-and-tan miniature dachshund! He's only 7.6 pounds and is such a good little boy. He's house-trained, crate-trained, and surprisingly quiet for a dachshund. I've never heard him bark, although he occasionally whines for attention. He's shy at first and takes a little time to warm up, but once he's comfortable, he's incredibly sweet and affectionate. Louie recently had a full health panel with normal results and was just neutered. His wellness check today went great, and his stitches are healing well! The vet also recommended he gain a little weight. It breaks my heart to rehome him, but I'm moving back with my family, and my parents are allergic to dogs. I truly wish I could keep him. I'm asking $2,500 but am flexible for the right home. More than anything, I want him to go to someone who will love him and be patient with him.

She has hosted visiting family member dogs in the home but has largely been the only pet in the home. -KNOWN WITH CATS: Unknown -KNOWN WITH KIDS: Can be a bit overwhelming with small kids, as she tries to get them to play with her by puppy mouthing type behavior! It was too overwhelming for the toddler in her last home as she was VERY persistent with her attempt for play. Could be a great candidate for a home with kids older then 6! -KNOWN CUES: Sit, lay down, paw, come (sometimes), "say hi" (touch), snoot (put her nose in the circle of your fingers), up (up on her hind legs, if you wave a treat up while you say it). -KNOWN HOUSEBREAKING AND/OR CRATING: Butter is housebroken, though she HATES the crate. She does very well on her own in the home and is not destructive, but does have anxiety she needs medication for as she does hate being left alone TOO long. But is not disruptive in the home not crated. -KNOWN LIKES: Being with her people, playtime, puzzles, bully sticks, zoomies in the grass -KNOWN DISLIKES: LOTS of new people/consistent new people around, high energy in the home (she likes a calmer atmosphere). Butter has medication for her anxiety that GREATLY assists! She hates care rides as well as thunder and fireworks. ABOUT THIS ANIMAL: Butter is looking for a calm forever home! She is mild around other dogs, and just fine as an only pup.
