Story
Toby Teeth is a 4 year and 5 month old Miniature Pinscher weighing 17 pounds. He came to the shelter as a stray so his history is unknown. Adopter required to have breed knowledge/experience. Toby Teeth is a character, he has a big personality! He's affectionate on his terms, he'll jump right in your lap and give you hugs & kisses! Does not like to be picked up-don't even try until you've earned his trust!! We believe he has past trauma that has given him some trust issues and he's a typical Min Pin!. A slow approach is needed, he does not like hands above his head or on his chest. He loves treats and knows the command sit. Resource guarding with toys-will not share and DO NOT try to take it from him. Suspected separation anxiety. He has lots of energy and loves walks. Good on a leash. Loves car rides and rides well with a seat belt.Miniature Pinschers are for experienced dog owners. The Miniature Pinscher is an assertive, outgoing, active, and independent breed. Miniature pinschers are energetic and need a fenced yard to run in; they make great agility dogs. They are great escape artists and some recommend having a kennel with a lid on it for them to run around in. They are good watchdogs, as they are alert and wary of strangers. They can easily alert their owners of someone's presence, their happiness or their loneliness with their frequent high-pitched bark. It is recommended that adults and teenagers, rather than young children, play with a Miniature Pinscher as younger children play rough. Miniature Pinschers are a stubborn breed when it comes to training, but once trained they will obey commands well. His adoption fee is $150, this includes his neuter, heartworm test, vaccines current, deworming, heartworm/flea prevention and micro chipped. His dog license is also required to be purchased for Sandusky County residents at time of adoption, which is an additional $21.00. Please visit the shelter to meet him, we show dogs Monday through Friday 1pm-4:30pm and Saturday 1pm-3:30pm. Once you have visited the shelter, you are then eligible to submit an adoption application for review. Please note, we do not offer same day adoptions and there is a $10 non-refundable application fee.Come and meet your new best friend today! The Humane Society of Sandusky County is open Monday -Friday 1pm - 5pm and Saturdays from 1pm - 4pm. Also, be sure to check us out on FaceBook!

Story
Chloe and her brother were surrendered by their owners after their health status and living conditions began to decline. Chloe was severely anemic from a flea infestation and needed some help with stabilization. We also unfortunately learned that she has a grade 5 out of 6 heart murmur, so the vet that our shelter works with recommended not having her spayed because the likelihood that she would survive the anesthesia is low. With that being said, because of the severity of her heart murmur, Chloe's life expectancy is greatly shortened even on heart medication. We would be looking at more of a hospice situation, unless an adopter wants to work with a cardiologist to see if there was any way to give her more time. No matter what, it is unfair that she is so young and her time is already limited, so we are hoping this will reach a very kind person who will be willing to make whatever time she has left as special as possible. We will be sending her adopters with a dose of her current heart medication. Chloe has been vaccinated, microchipped and has tested neg. for heartworm which is included in the adoption fee. If you would like to adopt this dog, you must come into the shelter for a meet and greet. We are open 12-4. (Closed Mondays & Wednesdays)

Story
Name: Julia Gender: Female Age: 9 years Current Weight: 30lbs  Breed: Min Pin- Terrier mix Energy Level: Medium Dog Friendly: Yes, can be with another small dog or live as the only dog Cat Friendly: No Kid Friendly: Yes but would prefer they just visit Apartment Friendly: TBD Physical Fence Requirement: Preferred, any height Crate Trained: Yes Potty Trained: Yes Ideal Home/Adopter:  Julia is looking for a home where she can be the star of the show. Visiting kids are fine, and she can live with another dog, but she fully plans on being your number-one girl. She can be left alone for up to 7 hours, but she’ll need a crate or pee pads if you're gone longer.  Likes: Belly rubs, laying by the fire, face kisses, sleeping under the blankets like a tiny leg-warmer, and being glued to her person like an old-school VHS tape that refuses to eject. Dislikes: Pesky squirrels who dare mess with the landscaping. Julia takes her yard patrol very seriously… think mall security.  A bark with no bite. Julia is a sassy senior who fully believes she is the neighborhood’s unofficial HOA president. She loves to “talk” with you — not barking, just softly sharing her daily commentary like a tiny eighties aerobics instructor giving life advice. She has a lot to say, and she expects you to listen. She believes age is nothing but a number and brings this energy to everything she does.  She is also a certified Nosey Nelly who must monitor all neighborhood activity. If someone walks by, delivers a package, or dares to plant a tulip crooked… she knows. Julia greets every day and every person with big 1980s mall-walker confidence, neon-sneaker energy, and a hilarious determination to keep her world on schedule. Julia's adoption fee is $195. She is eligible for a reduced adoption fee through our Senior for Seniors program. All fees include spay/neuter, microchip, vaccinations, worming, flea and heartworm current. All dogs over 6 months of age have been tested and are heartworm negative. If you are interested in Julia, apply at rescuedohio.org to become an approved adopter and a meet & greet can be set up once approved. ##237320##

Story
MBR holds monthly adoption events on the 2nd Saturday of every month at Tractor Supply in Columbia Station, 24100 Royalton Road from 11 am - 2 pm. Questions can be emailed to rescue@mbrohio.com At 10 years old and 15 pounds, Buzz the Miniature Pinscher may be small in size, but his heart is pure gold. He’s a calm, tender-hearted gentleman who wants nothing more than to spend his days surrounded by love and comfort. Buzz is potty trained and crate trained, though his favorite place is undoubtedly a warm lap or a sunny spot by the window. He no longer plays with toys, but he finds joy in the simple things — a cozy blanket, a soft bed, and gentle pets from someone who cares. Buzz is not in the best health and is currently on hospice care. Due to his condition, he cannot be neutered, and our focus is on keeping him comfortable and happy for as long as he has. Despite his frailty, he still enjoys slow, peaceful walks and the company of other dogs and kind children. What Buzz needs most now is a loving home to call his own, a family to hold him close, and a lap to rest in while he soaks up all the love he’s missed. In return, he’ll fill your heart with gratitude and unconditional love every single day. Buzz may not have forever, but he deserves the best forever home. Do you have a huge heart and space in your home for this sweet old boy? Fill out an application to meet Buzz ASAP! If you are interested in adopting one of our dogs, the first thing to do is submit an application for approval. All dogs available for adoption are in foster homes. Please do not visit the rescue location as it is a privately run boarding, training & grooming facility. Individual meet and greets are scheduled by appointment only for approved adopters. Age: 10 years
