Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Hi … my name is Penny! Please take a minute to read my entire bio to find out everything you need to know about me.  If you think Penny might be the perfect pup for you, go to www.allamericanmuttrescue.org/forms and complete the adoption application online.  If you are not able to adopt at this time, please consider making donations to AAMR to help care for Penny! Oh sweet Penny the Minny Pinny.  After fostering this little Golden Girl for a few months, we’re thinking she should have been named Sophia!  This little girl with a big feisty attitude would make Estelle Getty proud!  She is so sweet, but she does not take any ‘stuff’ off her foster friends … especially from Gizmo, a little old male Chihuahua with a curmudgeon-y attitude to match hers!  Two little old pups yammering at each other … their daily exercise!  If you need some comedy in your home, you might want to consider adopting them together! This sweet old lady did not have an easy life for the first 10 years.  Original owner decided he didn’t want her (after having her all her life) and a family member reached out to AAMR about taking her.  We happened to have a friend who has a soft spot for senior dogs who wanted to take her, so she went directly to him.  When he went to pick her up, the owner had no idea where she was and after some searching they found her hiding in a barn … and it was not warm weather. When she went to live with her new owner, she found out quickly what is was like to live inside, never miss a meal, and have other doggy friends.  Our friend learned quickly that she had never been handled a lot and that she had never been housebroken. But they worked it out and soon she was sleeping in the bed with him and following him around.  Considering her life of neglect, Penny is in pretty good health condition.  This sweet girl is a bit arthritic and takes a daily medication to help keep her comfortable and mobile.  And she can still move pretty quickly when she wants to! She is a precious little old lady who would love to have a wonderful family to love her and care for her through her golden years. Important things you need to know about Penny: Approximate age/birthdate:  Feb 28 2010 Weight/size: 11 pounds Housebroken:  YES as long as you do your part and take her out often.  If not, there will be accidents. Crate trained:  YES … she will go in her crate but prefers napping in a doggy bed in a corner of the room Personality: a bit cautious around new people, independent, sweet, loves attention on her terms Energy level:  retired and lazy but she will still make the rounds in her fenced yard on a nice day Fenced yard required?:   Definitely preferred.  She likes to do a little exploring and sunbathing in warm weather Does he/she jump fences?  NO Leash walk with manners:  YES and she won’t make you run to keep up with her Obedience training:  NO … she does pretty much as she pleases Riding in vehicles:  RIDES OK    Spayed/neutered:   YES Up-to-date on routine vaccinations:   YES Microchipped:   YES Social with other dogs:  YES … she’s not really looking for new friends or playmates, but she’s find with other dogs being around Social with cats: Has not been around cats in foster care but think she would probably not care as long as they left her alone Good with children:  Will probably be best with respectful, calm children ages 10 and up.  She deserves to be respected and loved for the rest of her days, and young children may be too much for her to handle. Adoption donation: $100 We are an all-volunteer group, so please be patient and understand that it takes an average of 7-14 days to process the applications including reference checks, follow-up questions and home visits.  You can expedite the process by providing accurate email addresses for all your references.  Time to make phone calls is limited and we often have multiple applications in process.  We make every effort to move through them as quickly as possible. When your application is approved, we will schedule a home visit/meet-and-greet to see if Penny picks you too. If it seems that the adoption will be a good match for all, there is an adoption fee, and an adoption contract to be signed. Please feel free to email weluvpups@hotmail.com if you have additional questions.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 19, 2024, 3:49 pm
