Story
*Meet Sassy* 🐾 Don't let the name fool you — okay, actually, DO let the name fool you, because Sassy earns every letter of it. This three-month-old spitfire is a Chihuahua/Miniature Pinscher mix with the heart of a lap dog and the confidence of a dog three times her size. Sassy is whip-smart (she's already figuring out the humans around her faster than they're figuring her out) and endlessly affectionate — she'll happily curl up in your lap one minute and zoom around the room the next like she's got somewhere very important to be. Spoiler: she doesn't. She just has a lot of opinions and a lot of energy. She's looking for a family who appreciates a dog with personality — someone who'll match her enthusiasm on walks, laugh at her antics, and give her plenty of love (which she will return tenfold). A little structure and consistent training will go a long way with this clever girl, but underneath the sass is a total sweetheart who just wants to be your shadow. *Sassy is ready to bring a little chaos and a lot of love into her forever home.* Local adoption fee is $400 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $750 (includes transport to your area)

Story
I received him in 2020 at about 4 years old, after my previous dog passed away. I was a truck driver and wanted a travel companion. After leaving trucking, he became our family dog and has been deeply loved. He is now about 10, sweet, independent, and loves relaxing. He is house-trained and understands “no,” “stay,” “outside,” “eat,” and “snack.” He is friendly with children and has lived with my toddler. He loves blankets, his bed, stuffed toys, and snacks. He has improved greatly around dogs and cats. Outside, he generally does well and mostly ignores them. Inside, he can coexist with other animals but must be fed separately. He does not tolerate other dogs growling at him.He has dental issues, missing teeth, and a sensitive stomach. He needs soft food, a consistent diet, and no table food. I’m looking for a loving, patient home that understands senior dogs. Breed is believed to be a Chihuahua/Min Pin mix.

Story
Meet Princeton Princeton is a goofy, high-energy little shadow who wants to be wherever you are. He loves long walks and settles best after plenty of exercise. He needs an active, dog-savvy home that can give him freedom to move. He doesn't like being confined and can push over tension gates. He'd love a playful dog sibling who's up for wrestling and doesn't mind a lot of physical contact. He can be pushy with his current housemate and needs some management, but his excellent recall makes redirecting him easy. He's reactive to large trucks and needs a short, non-retractable leash. He's slow to warm to new people, does best when visitors toss treats and ignore him, and dislikes hands over his head. His person will need to speak up for him with strangers who want to pet. House trained and unbothered by small pets. Intense, hilarious, and deeply devoted to his people. HART Homepage: https://hart90.org/ Questions About this Animal? Please contact Robert Badura (robert.badura@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.small young boy ready to play! PONCHI NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!! Name:  Ponchi         Best Guess for Breed:  Miniature pinscher mix  Best Guess for Age:   3 years as of July 2026         SEX:   Male   Approximate Weight:   20 lbs   Gets Along With:  Other dogs! We haven't seen him with cats or kids but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters!   Currently Living at:  DC area foster home Ponchi is Looking For:   His forever home! This cutie is looking for his own humans to trot alongside on those sniffy walks and adventures to burn all that awesome young-dog energy. Making new pup pals along and having plenty of opportunity to run and play is on his wish list along with quality kibble and a cushy dog bed. And snuggles! Definitely those too. But above all he wants to know where he belongs, to be under his own roof, to be safe and loved. In exchange, he promises adoring gazes and loyal companionship for all his days. What do you say?  Can you see him by your side? What My Foster Says About Me:  Ponchi is a love bug.  He adores meeting people and is friendly toward other dogs — the tail gets to wagging on his walks when he sees either species.  He is very smart — his foster taught him a new trick in no time — for him to offer his paw after sitting to get a treat.  He likes to play ball and tug of war but most of all he likes to cuddle next to his humans on the couch. He's also very stylish— he can change his look from adorably cute to regally handsome just by changing his ear position. He does seem to have a chicken allergy, so it's best to feed him food with a different kind of protein. Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $460, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations and spay/neuter. Story
Meet Tulip! Tulip is a sweet little lady. Our guess is she’s middle aged. Our best guess is that she is a corgi/miniature pinscher mix. She loves to be your lap dog, and will gladly settle in for a comfy nap if you let her! She has been quiet in her foster home, and shown to be crate trained and keeps her kennel clean. Tulip has also shown to be people social and generally indifferent to dogs. She has not been around kids for any extended time as far as we are aware, but she was friendly and social with a small child who helped with getting her into her foster home. While we think she would be okay in a home with kids at this time, supervision will be very important for everyone’s safety and comfort! Tulip was surrendered to a local animal shelter when she had a small bite incident with her previous owner while being handled. She was in a situation with an owner who was having mental health issues, and this is believed to have contributed to the situation. While in foster care, we have confirmed she doesn’t like her feet touched, and she had a tough time with a groomer. However, we are now working on muzzle training her for these situations, which should help everyone to stay safe as she builds her comfort and confidence back up for this! She has not replicated any bite behaviors despite her foster/trainer exposing her to everything!

Please contact Diane Pedulla (dianep@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.sweet mama seeking her own humans!FRANCESCA NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!! Come meet Francesca and other great adoptable dogs this Sunday (8/23) from 12-3 pm at the PetSmart in Silver Spring (12020 Cherry Hill Rd, Silver Spring, MD 20904)!   Name: Francesca       Best Guess for Breed:  Miniature pinscher mix   Best Guess for Age:  2 years as of May 2026       SEX:   Female   Approximate Weight:   24 pounds   Gets Along With: Other dogs!  We haven't seen her with cats or kids but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters!   Currently Living at:   DC area foster home   Special adoption considerations: Francesca is a truly Lucky Dog. She tested positive for heartworms, but landed in a place where heartworm treatment is provided! Heartworm is not contagious to people or other pets, but results from mosquito bites. Heartworm, if left untreated, is life threatening, but after treatment, dogs that were heartworm positive should suffer no significant long-term effects so long as they are kept on a monthly heartworm preventative. Heartworm dogs can resume full active and normal lives, but need to be kept calm for 4-6 weeks after treatment. We are happy to discuss where in the treatment process this Lucky Dog is in right now! Just email the adoption coordinator - the address is at lower left!   Francesca is Looking For:  Her forever home! She did an amazing job raising her six babies Felix, Fox, Freddy, Freda, FRan, and Frank to be great family pets. They're all off to seek their own humans and now Francesca is seeking her own humans to love and be loved by. She's in her prime as a young adult dog and is eager for long sniffy walks, romps, and all those wonderful adventures. Most of all, though, she wants to know she's safe and loved, where she belongs. In exchange she promises loyal companionship for all her days. What do you say? Does Francesca have a spot in your home and your heart?   What My Foster Says About Me:  Francesca is shy out in the world, startled at sudden sounds and reluctant to say hello to people, but friendly with dogs we meet on our walks. In the house, she’s a completely different dog, loving and silly and affectionate. She follows me around the house and is always looking to cuddle with me, either on the couch or on the floor. She and my Chi/Min Pin Gracie love each other’s company both at home and on walks. She’s quite the mellow little girl, content to curl up on a chair or on the floor for most of the day. In the afternoon, she’ll go onto the deck to catch some rays. She takes well to the crate, but I can confidently leave her and Gracie to wander around the house when I leave.   When it’s time for walkies, she runs up to me, puts her little paws on my chest and covers me with kisses while I attach her collar. When I return, she’s waiting for me with tail wags and kisses. At night, she’ll sleep either in the crate or on the bed without incident. She doesn’t play much with toys, and doesn’t chew on anything inappropriate.     Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT:    The adoption fee for this dog is $475, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment.  If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online at bit.ly/adoptaluckydog   Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption.
