Story
Meet Bartley !! This tiny little guy is beyond adorable. Although he can be a nervous guy at times he’s been very sweet and loving with everyone. Bartley is an approx. 5-6 month old male. He weighs 8.6 pounds and is full grown. He was said to be a chihuahua mix at the shelter but we suspect there may be more Min Pin in there that chihuahua. He is already neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccines. He is thankfully heartworm negative and on monthly preventions. This guy is an easy boy to have around. He is fairly calm and relaxed. He enjoys some zoomies around the yard and has bursts of excitement. His foster says he doesn’t always pick the most ideal times to get excited such as wanting to play and be wild when let out late night or early morning to potty. Aside from that he’s not super active. Playful and fun but not super hyper and not consistently busy. He is definitely a big baby. He wants to be with you all the time and gets scared about things. He likes to go on calm outings but really hates walking on the leash. So basically, you will have to carry him to any adventures LOL. He did excellent at a brewery with a calm vibe but was not a fan of a walk in the park (all that nature and breeze blowing are scary if you ask him) He is a bit of a goofy guy in what he is scared of and what he isn’t but snacks always help him relax. Bartley has been very good with other animals. He can be shy and scared at first and then he loves to play once he sees they are safe. He is fostered with a cat and they do so well together. He is playful and curious with the cat but also respectful. If you have a cat that actually likes to play he would be great for that. He has not been fostered with children so far. We think he would do best with calm older kids as a lot of chaos and ruckus in the house would probably keep him on edge. He is working hard to learn all of his training. He’s done well on car rides and does not get sick but is nervous. He does not yet enjoy walking on a leash. He gets very nervous and scared. He needs to be walked on a very secure lead or harness as he will get scared and try to back out of it. He is trying his best with crate training but he misses you a lot and can get really whiny at times. Bartley is also trying hard with his potty training but he seems to have a fairly small bladder. When taken out frequently, he does well. He also has to go out shortly after he eats/drinks so vigilance with that helps him succeed with his potty training. He is very good about going potty as soon as you take him out. It is just a matter of you getting him out regularly. He has not shown any issues with people or other dogs about sharing his food, treats or toys. He can be a nervous boy about certain things but loves people and has never tried to bite. He does like to lick people A LOT. He’s a huge cuddler but if licking annoys you, he is not your pup he wants to give all the kisses all the time. Bartley likes to play with odd items like measuring cups and his toys have to be teeny. He loves to snuggle which is fun, he also loves to hang out in the bed. He has recently started to really like puzzle feeders and snuffle mats! He is a really sweet boy with some confidence issues. He will likely come out of his shell more as he gains confidence. If you are looking for a quirky little cutie then he may be the one for you. Vet and home checks required. Fenced potty area preferred due to leash fear. Located in Hampton VA. (He will need to be adopted within a 2 hour drive radius) ‼️Please message VillagDogResource@gmail.com directly with questions or to get an application. Story
Zeke is a lover and loves cuddles and playing. He is great with kids we just don’t have the ability to give him the love he needs. He is hopefully a package deal with his brother Zane. They love each other very much and keep one another entertained. They both had their shots up to 1 years old but have not had their adult shots. They are both healthy and house trained. They deserve more love and attention then we are able to give them.

Story
Mora is a sweet, loyal, and affectionate Min Pin Mix who loves belly rubs, toys, and long naps in the sun after some window watching. She bonds deeply with her people and thrives on snuggles and treats! She loves going for walks and exploring the outside. She would be best in an active home that will take her exploring, or at a minimum, someone with a fenced back yard that she can freely explore. Like many dogs, Mora takes mealtime seriously — she prefers to enjoy her food without interruptions. She may growl if another animal approaches her while she eats, but this is easily managed by placing her food in a quiet location without other pets. Outside of mealtime, shes a total lovebug who wants nothing more than to be by your side and follow you everywhere. She has a love of all humans big and small and is extremely tolerant and patient with the smallest of humans as they try to navigate their new worlds with pets and people. One of Mora’s favorite activities when she isn’t outside is to play tug of war with the other animals in the home. She is great with other dogs, big and small. Cats aren’t her favorite, and she will quickly chase them out of the room. If you're looking for a loyal companion with a big heart, great love for babies, adults and everything in between, Mora might just be your perfect match! She is being fostered in Newport News. Weighs about 20 pounds, fully vetted, housebroken, and resdy to join your family. Please fill out adoption application on our website critters4urescueinc.org ##2434015##

Story
Meet Avacado !! No one wants a dog with one eye 🙁 Poor girl has been here so long waiting for anyone to even want to meet her. She may be a little different but she has so much love and fun to bring into your home if you give her a chance!! She is one of the now 23 dogs we have taken in from a horrible hoarding situation. She survived being in a feces covered home during freezing temps with no heat, no water, no food, and no electricity for a very long time. She’s been through a lot but she’s ready to find someone to love! Avacado is a female Chihuahua mix (best guess). She weighs 10 Pounds and is full grown. Her age is a guess. We thought she was 8-10yrs years old based on her teeth (she had a full dental and is doing great). After her dental she really came out of her shell and is a very spirited, happy, and playful girl!! Definitely doesn't act like an older dog at all. She is fearless around other dogs and loves to run and play. She also loves to cuddle. She has already been spayed, is up to date on vaccines and microchipped. She is heartworm negative and on monthly preventions. She also had a dental cleaning surgery done. Avacado is a dog that takes a good bit of time to trust you. Once she opens up she is wide open and loving. She also loves to cuddle making her a great mix. She will be extremely shy and shut down in a new place for a few weeks. She slowly comes to trust you and feel safe and then she finally shows her spunky playful self. She’s never been aggressive even when she’s scared. She has done well with other dogs of all sizes and ages. She has no issues playing with big dogs. Once she settles in she plays with toys and runs the yard like she’s a puppy again. She is not fostered with cats so we do not know how she will do but we suspect she would do fine. She is shy at first with everyone but she has done good with kids. She lets them pick her up and hold her. As with any dog she would need any children in the house to be respectful and not treat her like a toy. Avacado does really well with her training after she settles in. Please keep that in mind as the first few weeks will be different than her behaviour once settled. She is crate trained but can also be left out without needing one. She has done very well on car rides and does not get sick. She’s been very good for all of her vet visits. She had never been on a leash before but has been practicing. She is getting much better about it but that is only once you and her have established trust. Avacado is not fully potty trained. She came from a place where they were trapped inside and had no options for going anywhere else. She will still sometimes have accidents in the house. When she is first with you she will have to potty in the house until trust is built and she feels safe to use the bathroom outside. A pen or room area with puppy pads on the floor is the recommended way to let her go while trust is gained. Her new owner will just need to be patient and understanding given her history. Despite having to fight over limited resources in the hoarding house she has shown no issues sharing food, treats or toys with humans or other dogs. She also takes treats gently. Avacado has a medium energy level so far. It takes a bit to see the playful side but once she settles in she really opens up. She loves toys of all kinds and has no trouble running the yard with dogs 8 times her size. She is fearless in that aspect and loves to get right in the middle of any play times. She also loves to sleep on your lap and relax. She’s a perfect mix of fun playful energy and lazy cuddles. Overall Avacado is working hard to overcome a rough start to life. She is so sweet and really wants to trust and feel safe. It takes some time to get to see the real Avacado hidden behind the fear. If you are willing to help her learn the rest of her training and give her some time to trust you then you will end up with a great addition to your family. ***Do not apply to adopt one of these hoarding case dogs if you’re not serious about giving them time to adjust. It’s absolutely unfair to expect them to adjust in a day or two. We’ve had 3 adopted and returned within 24 hours of adoption for not being immediately settled and perfect in a completely new place. All returned for things we explained upfront about them. It’s completely unreasonable and unrealistic to expect that from dogs that have been through what they have. The last thing they need is to be shuffled around due to adopters not listening or being serious about their needs*** Vet and home checks required. Located in Hampton VA. (She will need to be adopted within a 2 hour drive radius) ‼️Please message us directly at VillageDogResource@gmail.com with questions or to get an application.
