Kermit is a silly boy and a great dog to live with. He’s a 5-year-old Poodle mix who weighs around 70 pounds of fluffy bounciness 🦘. His main skill set involves zooming around the large yard, quickly and efficiently 💫. He has a lot of energy 🌟 and loves to be able to stretch his legs and cover lots of ground. He comes when he’s called, and he’ll sit on command too, so he is good at downshifting when he needs to. Kermit is very social with other dogs and with people. He approaches people eagerly so he can show them how much he likes them 🤗. He’s independent and likes to craft his own exercise routines 🏋️‍♂️ and games. But once he has burned off his energy, he’d sure like to do some cuddling 🥱. He is house-trained and crate-trained and all that good stuff, so he is easy to live with. His goofiness 😅 always shines through at just the right moments 🙃. He should have a large fenced yard 🌳 or someplace where he can exercise a lot daily. He hasn’t been around kids, so we don’t know how he does with them. Same goes for cats. He will need regular grooming. Kermit is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and current on heartworm/flea/tick preventatives. His adoption fee is $175. Meet Teddy! Teddy is a 3-year-old, 14-pound poodle mix who came to us as a breeder release. He entered foster care with a lot to learn about life in a home, and he has already come such a long way. Teddy is a sweet, gentle boy who can be cautious when something is new, but once he has a chance to get comfortable, his personality really starts to shine. He loves snuggling on the couch, cuddling up with the resident dog and being part of whatever is happening around the house. He actually seems to enjoy a home with some activity and people coming and going. He has also been incredibly gentle with the senior citizens who visit his foster home. Other dogs have been great for Teddy's confidence. He enjoys playing with his foster family's dog and would benefit from having a confident canine companion in his new home, although another dog is a preference rather than a requirement. He also does well with cats. Teddy is crate trained and continuing to work on potty training. A fenced yard is important for him because he is still learning to feel comfortable spending time outside. What Teddy needs most is an adopter who understands that some everyday experiences are still new to him. Give him a little time, patience and encouragement, and you'll get to watch this sweet boy continue to discover just how good life can be. His foster mom absolutely adores him—and after watching Teddy learn to trust, snuggle, play and enjoy being part of a family, it's easy to understand why. Teddy is ready for his next chapter. Pet Location: Wayside Waifs Campus My Friends at Wayside say:- This dog is from a puppy mill situation. They will likely need time to adjust to home life. They have lived with many other dogs but have not experienced socialization with people and things like walking on a leash and doorways are challenging for many of them. Dogs from puppy mills can be difficult to housetrain, and adopters should be willing to be patient during this process. Crate training can be very helpful and also give the dog a safe place to call their own. It is also important to let them go at their own pace with building a relationship with their new family and limiting lots of commotion and visitors in the beginning is wise. They have not experienced life outside of the puppy mill, so things could be overwhelming for them at first. Patience and positive interactions are crucial. Aversive methods of training should be avoided. Puppy mill dogs are almost always treat motivated, so using that to build trust and teach new things is the way to go! Adopting a puppy mill dog can be extremely rewarding and the extra time needed to allow them to learn about life and love will be paid back in time!- I’m a shy dog and need someone willing to be patient with me.- During my time at Wayside, I have enjoyed being around other dogs. My home needs are: -If you have kids in the home 9 years old and younger, I will need to meet them since I can be nervous around new people and loud noises.-For my safety, I need to go home on an anti-slip collar called a martingale collar since I do not walk well on leash.
