Story
Meet Endora – A Gentle Girl with a Love for Soft Things 📍 Located in Troy, MO 💻 Applications at leiashope.org Endora is a little lady learning what it's like to live in freedom after spending her early life in a puppy mill. She’s shy at first, but once she warms up, she politely asks for affection and enjoys quiet companionship. Her foster has established a mealtime routine that works perfectly for her—when she hears the call, Endora happily runs upstairs to the bedroom where her bowl is placed just inside the door. This quiet, uninterrupted space is where she feels most comfortable eating. She has a healthy appetite, is a good eater, and is currently on Puppy Fromm. She eats twice a day, with a little extra to support her growing puppy needs. Endora is a big fan of soft comforts—she loves her open-door kennel filled with fluffy blankets and can often be found lounging in cozy dog beds. After spending her early life on a hard kennel floor, she’s finally learning what comfort feels like. She gets along well with other dogs and is watching them closely to learn how to play and enjoy toys. With a little more time and encouragement, she’ll be joining in on the fun! 📝 Requirements: Secure physical fenced yard Another young, confident dog in the home No children under 12 Mill dogs like Endora are under-socialized and easily startled by things we take for granted—leashes, television sounds, garbage trucks, kitchen appliances, etc. She will need a patient and understanding home willing to help her continue adjusting at her own pace. 🐾 Endora is spayed, microchipped, current on vaccinations, and on monthly flea and heartworm prevention. 💲 Adoption fee: $500 📍 Located in Troy, MO 💻 Applications at leiashope.org Please Note: Leia’s Hope is a volunteer-run rescue. Application processing takes 7–10 business days depending on our availability and your references. All dogs are in foster homes—there is no central facility. Meet and greets are scheduled only after an approved application. We do not ship or transport. Adopters must travel to the dog’s location, and all family members and current pets must be present. Dogs are a lifetime commitment. Puppies, in particular, may live 15+ years. If you're not prepared to commit to that, please do not apply. Puppies under 9 months must go to a home where someone is frequently home, can provide proper training and socialization, and keep up with their energy and needs.

I’m Penny Sue — a sweet, affectionate 6-year-old Miniature Poodle who is thriving in foster care while I wait for my forever home. I’m deaf, but that doesn’t slow me down one bit. I communicate with my heart, my eyes, and my constant desire to be close to my people. I’m calm, loving, and happiest when I’m curled up beside you or quietly keeping you company. I’d do especially well in an apartment or a peaceful home where I can soak up all the love I deserve. A Little About Me: 🐾 Affectionate and friendly 🛋️ True lap pet — cuddling is my specialty 🏡 Fully housetrained 👵 Excellent match for seniors or low-key households 🐶 Good with dogs 👧 Good with kids 🦮 Leash trained and easy to walk 🎾 Enjoys toys and gentle playtime 🏢 Apartment-appropriate I may not hear the world around me, but I feel love deeply — and I’m ready to give it to a family who will cherish me for the rest of my journey. 💌 Interested in adopting Penny Sue? 👉 Click the link to apply, read more about me, and set up a meet & greet: https://www.straypawsrescue.com/information/212174293 #PennySue #SeniorDog #AdoptDontShop #DeafDogAwareness #ForeverHomeWanted #StrayPawsRescue #RescueDogLove

Story
**PLEASE READ BIO BEFORE APPLYING** He is an old man who spent his life as a breeder so is a nervous dog. He will need a fully fenced yard, he is not leash trained and will likely never be. Since Marlin lived his first 8 years in a crate, being used only for breeding, he is terrified of people. He would rather be seen and not touched. He needs a quiet home and another small friendly confident dog to show him around. He has been with his foster for over a year and has started walking outside and back in without having to be picked up, and doesn’t run when walked up to. There is not an aggressive bone in his body, but he is not going to be a dog that wants to snuggle anytime in the near future, or long walks in the park. The reward with owning a dog like Marlin is watching him come out of his shell and become a new dog. It just takes time.

Story
**READ BEFORE APPLYING** Meet Maci! This girl has had a very rough life and doesn’t know that life can be good. Maci was a breeder release, meaning she was likely in a crate for a majority or her short life. She has learned showing her teeth will get scary things away. She needs lots of patience and time to adjust but she does show a want for attention. She loves other dogs and cats and has not had an accident in her foster home. She can NOT go home with children under 16. She is absolutely terrified of loud noises and would not do well with children. She does need another confident dog in the home that can show her the ropes and a fully secured fenced in yard. Maci will not be a dog that will want to cuddle right away, she will need lots of time and patience.

Story
Elliana They gave me a fancy name at last! Can you believe it? I have been used as a breeder dog for years and years and then dumped at the local pound with a mammary gland tumor that you could play tennis with!! Who does that!!! At least that is what my foster mom thinks my life has been like. I sat there in a cage at animal control for 4 weeks before anyone would think about pulling me out of there but my foster mom said that she had to take me home so that I would have a chance to be a beloved pet before I die. Not that I am planning to do that anytime soon, but you never know. Anyhow, I went to the vet right away and had that big nasty thing taken off my stomach and the vets knew right away what it was and what it was from. They took out the baby making bits as well, so I won’t have to go through having my babies and then losing them right away to being just a baby and money making factory for somebody. Sheesh….get a job!! I have some issues, I won’t lie, but I am starting to kind of get used to being out of a cage, where I learned to circle around and around as there wasn’t a lot of space in those things. I can walk in a straight line and the more I get time outside, the more I am enjoying the fresh air and smells in the grass. I will revert to circles when I am nervous but Rome wasn’t built in a day and I have only had freedom for a couple of months now. I don’t have many teeth, as the ones I did have were rotted and broken from trying to eat the bars I suppose. I startle easily from the lack of being held and loved in my former life, and will try to “gum” you if I pick me up too quickly. But speaking to me and touching me before you pick me up will let me know you are there and going to be gentle with me. I am still getting used to the being held part, and sometimes can’t tolerate it very long, but I am learning and going slow is really helpful to me. I am learning what good food tastes like, and what a soft bed feels like, and while I have pretty limited vision to see things, I can follow my nose and it helps me to find everything I need to get around. Foster mom leaves me a puppy pad to potty on in the house if I have to go at night, and I am pretty good at using it. It took a while to figure out that is what it was for, but also, if I potty outside after meals, I am good if I keep to a schedule. So that is my story. If you are interested in giving a blind old lady a soft landing for the rest of my life, let me know. Local adoption in Texas only please.

Story
Meet Mr. Pickles! 🐾 He will be 4 years old in February 2026 and is a fun-loving, energetic pup who brings joy wherever he goes. He absolutely loves playing with kids and does great around other dogs, he especially enjoys having playmates to run and play with. Mr. Pickles thrives on activity but also loves snuggles and relaxing time with his people. He does well on a consistent potty schedule and is a wonderful companion. I recently became a full-time nurse and can no longer give him the time and attention he truly deserves. I’m hoping to find a loving, active family (preferably with young children and/or other dogs) who will welcome him as part of their home and give him the love, play, and companionship he enjoys every day. ❤️🐶
