🐾 ROWdy is looking for his RIGHT home! 🐾
Sometimes foster-to-adopt is about learning exactly what a dog needs, and Rowdy has made one thing very clear: this boy needs a canine companion.
Rowdy is a 4-year-old Goldendoodle who recently went into a foster-to-adopt home. Unfortunately, despite everyone's best intentions, it isn't turning out to be the right fit for him. This is through absolutely no fault of Rowdy or his foster family. In fact, Rowdy is an incredibly sweet, well-behaved boy. We've just learned something really important about what makes him feel safe.
Rowdy does not want to be an only dog.
Rowdy grew up in a home with other dogs and previously lived in a foster home with other dogs. In that environment, he did wonderfully, including in his crate. In his current home, where he is the only dog, we're seeing separation anxiety when his person leaves. He cries, struggles with being alone, and isn't comfortable in his crate.
Because we've seen him successfully crate in a home with other dogs, we don't believe this is simply a "Rowdy hates crates" problem. We think Rowdy is scared when he realizes he's all by himself. 🥺
Interestingly, he doesn't necessarily need another dog because he wants a wrestling buddy all day long. He'll play some, but what he seems to need most is the companionship and reassurance of another dog—someone there to tell him, in dog language, "Hey, it's okay. They left, but they're coming back."
And when his person IS home? Oh boy.
Rowdy LOVES his human. He's affectionate, loyal, and definitely on the clingy side. If you've ever wanted a fluffy shadow who thinks personal space is wildly overrated, Rowdy may be your guy.

For Rowdy's next placement, we are specifically looking for a home with another friendly, confident dog. We would also love someone who is home a reasonable amount of the time and understands that Rowdy may need patience while he learns that his new home is safe.
Rowdy isn't being moved because he's destructive, naughty, aggressive, or a "bad dog." He's being moved because foster-to-adopt did exactly what it's supposed to do, it showed us what he needs to be successful.
And what Rowdy needs is a person to adore, a dog beside him, and a home where he never has to wonder if he's alone in the world again.

🐾 We would love to get this boy into a new foster-to-adopt home; however, due to the anxiety he is currently experiencing in his current home, a foster home would be wonderful as well. ❤️🐾
