Story
Squiggy's human died and none of the relatives wanted him. We adopted him to a good home in Vermont but it is not working out (not Squiggys fault). The adopters say he is perfect and they are fostering him until another home is found. Squiggy is located in Newport Center VT Squiggy is mostly a black miniature poodle with what looks like a bit of Yorkshire terrier in the mix. He is around 4 years of age. and he weighs approx. 16 pounds. As is normal, it will take him some time to get comfortable with a new environment. Squiggy is a very good boy. His original dad was a trucker so he loves to go on rides and is good in the vehicle. He walks well on a leash and sits for treats. He gives kisses and loves cuddles and sitting on your lap. He will get in his crate when he wants to nap or it's bedtime. He is well-behaved in the house but may or may not need additional work with housetraining. He does go to the door when he wants to go out. Squiggy will need to be groomed regularly and potential adopters must tell us how they will accomplish this. Because Squiggy is small, he must be protected from rough treatment by children or big dogs that could hurt him. He must also be protected from raptors and other outdoor predators. Squiggy must be an inside dog and a loved member of the family. To avoid injury, he will need steps to get on and off the couch and other furniture. Squiggy must be walked on a leash and would like a secure, fenced yard to run and play. Squiggy is healthy. He is neutered and tattooed, fully vaccinated (DAPPvL2, Bordatella, rabies), and microchipped. He is negative for heartworms and receives monthly heartworm and flea prevention. Meet Oliver! Oliver is COMING SOON! Foster Needed! Oliver should be ready early to mid-June. You can put in your applications now to get pre-approved and find out more about him from his foster. Olive has long long legs and teensy tiny footsie! He has the body of a mini poodle and the coat of a Shih Tzu. He loves to snuggle and be in your lap and sleep in your bed. Oliver wants his human all to himself though, so if you want him to sleep in your bed, you will have to be perpetually single! Orrrr, work with a positive trainer to work on his resource guarding. Speaking of resource guarding, leave him be when he is eating. Simple. No other dogs in the home to help Oliver feel safest. Oliver has fractured his teeth on his crate and becomes quite the cranky grumble but behind baby gates when other dogs are around. No crates for this guy but no worries about potty in the house as he is fully trained! Olive is scheduled for dental work which is why is not yet available. Oliver loves to sniff things outside and would love daily walks of any length to be able to stop and smell the roses all along his route. A harness is best as he hasn't received many walks and will need to keep working on not pulling. When he is out and about in the yard Oliver comes when called lickety splits! A silly thing about Oliver? Well, he sounds like he might eat you up for his next meal when he plays with you! He's just playing though. As his new parent, you should take the time to allow Oliver to decompress by himself for a few days as mentioned in the 3/3/3 rule of adoptions. And, you will eventually understand what all the grumps and grumbles of his sound like and which ones mean what. Oliver's ideal home would be a single adult or a couple who will use positive training to remove the guarding of his chosen person or to sleep in a dog bed entirely.
