Story
Hi my name is Gidget and I’m a 4 month old, 6lb sweet little princess. I absolutely LOVE sitting on the couch to cuddle with my foster mom and demand that we do it as much as possible! That is, when I’m not playing with my foster dog sisters , or chasing after my foster cat sisters… I just don’t know why they don’t want to play with me, so I think I would do best in a house without cats. They just don’t understand my energy! Anyways, I’m doing great with my potty training. I sleep in my crate at night as well as when my parents are away from home, and I can’t say I totally love it… but we’re working on it. I just want to be around my people as much as possible!! If you’re looking for a spunky little 5 pound gal with energy to play and endless snuggles when we’re done, apply for me today!     Does Gidget sound like a perfect addition to your home?  Applying is the first step to meet her - APPLICATION   (See our Dog Adoption FAQs before applying)  February 7, 2026, 9:45 pm

Story
Elliana They gave me a fancy name at last! Can you believe it? I have been used as a breeder dog for years and years and then dumped at the local pound with a mammary gland tumor that you could play tennis with!! Who does that!!! At least that is what my foster mom thinks my life has been like. I sat there in a cage at animal control for 4 weeks before anyone would think about pulling me out of there but my foster mom said that she had to take me home so that I would have a chance to be a beloved pet before I die. Not that I am planning to do that anytime soon, but you never know. Anyhow, I went to the vet right away and had that big nasty thing taken off my stomach and the vets knew right away what it was and what it was from. They took out the baby making bits as well, so I won’t have to go through having my babies and then losing them right away to being just a baby and money making factory for somebody. Sheesh….get a job!! I have some issues, I won’t lie, but I am starting to kind of get used to being out of a cage, where I learned to circle around and around as there wasn’t a lot of space in those things. I can walk in a straight line and the more I get time outside, the more I am enjoying the fresh air and smells in the grass. I will revert to circles when I am nervous but Rome wasn’t built in a day and I have only had freedom for a couple of months now. I don’t have many teeth, as the ones I did have were rotted and broken from trying to eat the bars I suppose. I startle easily from the lack of being held and loved in my former life, and will try to “gum” you if I pick me up too quickly. But speaking to me and touching me before you pick me up will let me know you are there and going to be gentle with me. I am still getting used to the being held part, and sometimes can’t tolerate it very long, but I am learning and going slow is really helpful to me. I am learning what good food tastes like, and what a soft bed feels like, and while I have pretty limited vision to see things, I can follow my nose and it helps me to find everything I need to get around. Foster mom leaves me a puppy pad to potty on in the house if I have to go at night, and I am pretty good at using it. It took a while to figure out that is what it was for, but also, if I potty outside after meals, I am good if I keep to a schedule. So that is my story. If you are interested in giving a blind old lady a soft landing for the rest of my life, let me know. Local adoption in Texas only please.

Story
Me me me me meeeeeee!!!!!! What? Oh. My foster mom says that is NOT how to spell my name. It is spelled “MiMi" which sounds the same but who cares how it is spelled. I am a vintage model of a little poodle and I was a much loved member of the family at one time. Not to say that I am spoiled or anything but I know what I want when I want it! So it really is all about me! I adore being around my people and love being held. I will make little whimpering noises if you are there and I think I haven’t had enough lap time and look at you with my puppy dog eyes so that you feel guilty and pick me up where I want to be. I am a healthy 14 year old poodle who is scheduled for spay and teeth cleaning on Jan. 5th and then will be able to go to my new home after that. I use a potty pad when I am sleeping on the floor, but my foster mom puts a diaper on me when I sleep on your bed because I am not too keen about jumping off the bed. So when I have to potty, if I am on the bed, sometimes I will potty the bed. But the diaper takes care of that. I am a whopping 10 pounds and do walk pretty well of a leash as long as you don’t walk too fast. I am housebroken if you take me out on a schedule. Adoption fee in Texas is $200 Out of State fee with transport and fuel surcharge is $450.

Adoption Application: https://www.cognitoforms.com/New2URescues/AdoptionApplication. Dogs will be spayed/neutered through us prior to finalizing any adoption. ********If dog/pup is showing as available it is available. Please do not email asking if it is. Submit application to meet dog if interested - yes an application is required******** Meet Gemma! Gemma is a 6-year old Bichon Frise-Poodle mix and a former puppy mill mama who is now discovering the comfort and safety of home life. She is a sweet, gentle and affectionate girl who loves nothing more than curling up with her foster sister, or snuggling on the couch with her people for a cozy movie night. Gemma is currently trained to potty on a pee-pad, but she will also go potty outside when taken out. Consistency in a routine is key for her! She also does walk on a leash, but seems to prefer to be carried when she is in a space that is unfamiliar to her. She does beautifully on car rides! She is dog-friendly and would do best with another calm adult dog in the home for both comfort and confidence. She may be overwhelmed by a dog who is high energy or a puppy. Gemma is on the anxious side due to her past so situations can be scary- especially if there are stairs involved. Gemma needs a more quiet and calm family who has patience, love and reassurance to help this sweet girl feel safe. As stated above, we prefer she goes to a home with another adult dog with a gentle temperament. She may start shy, but once she feels safe she truly begins to blossom into a little cuddlebug who wants nothing more than to be close to you. If you would like to meet this adorable dog an application must be filled out: https://www.cognitoforms.com/New2URescues/AdoptionApplication We are in Rochester, NY, we adopt to people who live in the Rochester area. We do not ship our dogs and require home visits. Must live in area to adopt, will not respond to out of area/country requests. Additionally we require physically fenced yard for dog/pup to play in safely. Exceptions are sometimes made to this requirement but is up to the foster and more often done for the small breed dogs. All our dogs have been treated with de-wormer; heartworm tested (if age appropriate -7 months or older); treated for fleas/ticks; microchipped; and examined by veterinarian plus given age appropriate vaccinations. We take every effort to ensure the health of the animal and you will receive a copy of all vet work performed at time of adoption. Dogs will be spayed/neutered thru us prior to finalizing any adoption. We provide information on dogs age and breed based on what we are told by person surrendering dog or vet's best guess. While we try our best we cannot guarantee that this information is 100% accurate and can often be best guess in case of our lovable mutts. You can learn more about our rescue and process at www.new2urescue.org or find us on Facebook. You must be 25 yrs of age or older to adopt through us. We are in the Rochester NY area and adopt dogs out to area residents. We are registered in NY State with the Dept of Agriculture RR #033 and a registered 501c3 Non-Profit
