Meet Daryl
He came from a puppy mill environment, where he lived in a barn and had very little chance to experience normal family life. Because of that, the world is still a big and sometimes scary place for him — but underneath his fear is the sweetest little prince.
Daryl is gentle, quiet, affectionate, and incredibly loving once he feels safe. His favourite place is curled up on the sofa or human bed, preferably beside someone he trusts. With his foster mom, he is a total sweetheart tail wags, kisses, snuggles, and hours of quiet companionship. He is still nervous around new people, especially men and children, and he can be frightened by traffic, sudden sounds, and busy environments. He is slowly learning that people can be kind and that life outside the barn can be beautiful.
Daryl is good with other dogs and lives peacefully with two male poodles in his foster home. He is not very playful yet, but he enjoys being around calm dogs and may benefit from a confident canine companion. He is learning to walk on leash, use the elevator, and go outside for potty breaks. He is comfortable doing his business outside when the environment is quiet and not overwhelming.
Because Daryl is still building confidence, he will need a patient, gentle home that understands decompression and will not rush him. He does not enjoy the crate and may cry when left alone, so he would do best with someone who can continue working on his independence slowly and kindly. He currently prefers to eat and drink when the house is quiet, often at night, and he can be picky with food. Chicken is one of his favourites.
Daryl is not a “ready-made” dog, but he is a deeply special one. He is soft, sensitive, soulful, and full of love for the person who earns his trust. His future family should be ready to give him patience, safety, comfort, and all the spoiling he deserves.
Daryl has survived the barn. Now he is ready to learn that the world can be kind place. Future parents of Daryl, be prepared: this little Prince deserves the most spoiled life in the universe
