Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. “Meet our very own Oliver Twist” Hi, my name is Oliver and much like that appealing orphan that Charles Dicken’s wrote about, I too am seeking the security of a family for my very own. I am approximately 6 years old and have recently been staying in a very busy house with 5 other furry friends. I get along great with everyone and don’t mind sharing my food, bones, or toys, and will even let you nap with me. I sleep like a log at night in my crate on this amazing donut bed and am just starting to enjoy “exploring” my surroundings. I occasionally get the zoomies when doing this whole “potty outside” thing, so you may want to keep the leash on me as I’m still working on “come” but I know that if I show you my belly, I’ll get scratches and man do I love those! I’m not an expert on leash yet and may not recognize all the commands you are saying to me but I’m a smart boy who’s willing to learn if you can be patient with me. My favorite treats are freeze-dried beef or salmon bites, and I just learned what a ball is…who knew? I like to nibble on those healthy Nyla bones or other KONG toys (dumbbells, bones, balls) I’m not fussy and enjoy a good nap on anything softy and cozy. Please give me a chance and consider making yours my furever home!      ADOPTION REQUIREMENTS: Physically fenced in yard to keep him safe - no invisible fences. Confident and friendly resident dog to help show Oliver the ropes and boost his confidence.   Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.*All SFCR dogs are current on age-appropriate vaccinations (rabies, distemper, bordetella, and lepto), spayed/neutered (if at least 6 months of age), tested for heartworm & tick-borne diseases, receive dentals if needed, are started on preventatives for heartworm and fleas/ticks, and microchipped. Prior to being rescued, many of our dogs have received limited socialization, so they generally require extra time to settle in and acclimate. Skills like house training, leash walking, and mastering stairs may require a little extra practice. However, with understanding, patience, and a gentle hand, most of our dogs adapt quite quickly. December 5, 2025, 5:27 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Since you’re reading this, you’re obviously looking for a new best friend – and, hey, so am I! I don’t care how old you are or what you look like, but in case those things matter to you, I’m approximately 6 years old and that’s me in the picture with the silky, soft black and white fur. Please don’t let my left eye cataract fool you, I can still follow you everywhere you go, including the bathroom.   I don’t mean to brag, but my foster mom named me Ozzy Dogbourne because I sound like that famous rock singer who wrote “Bark at the Moon” when I want to come out of my crate. When I’m not following you around, I love to nap on soft blankets and fluffy beds with my furry friends or even alone (I’m not picky) and I love-love-love a good ear and/or the booty scratches. I’m just starting to learn how to chew on doggy toys and my favorite treats are yummy chicken wrapped sweet potatoes. I still need some patience while I master this “potty outside” thing but I’m getting better at it every day. So, what do you say? Wanna be besties?   ADOPTION REQUIRMENTS: Physically fenced in yard to keep him safe - no invisible fences. Confident and friendly resident dog preferred but not required. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Mavis is a beautiful little Cockapoo in search of her forever family. Mavis came to us from a very unfortunate breeding situation. She has been working hard to build confidence and learn to trust but it has been a slow process. Mavis' ears were completely swollen shut from years of infection that was never tended to. The infection has been treated but her ears are still a bit swollen and will likely remain that way. She has been started on a medicated ear flush that we use 2-3 times a week to keep infection at bay. Mavis is working hard on her housetraining and doing pretty well. She loves the other dogs in her foster home and gets along well with everyone.   ADOPTION REQUIREMENTS: Physically fenced in yard to keep her safe - no invisible fences.  Confident resident dog to help show Mavis the ropes and teach her what being a dog is all about.
