Story
Elliana They gave me a fancy name at last! Can you believe it? I have been used as a breeder dog for years and years and then dumped at the local pound with a mammary gland tumor that you could play tennis with!! Who does that!!! At least that is what my foster mom thinks my life has been like. I sat there in a cage at animal control for 4 weeks before anyone would think about pulling me out of there but my foster mom said that she had to take me home so that I would have a chance to be a beloved pet before I die. Not that I am planning to do that anytime soon, but you never know. Anyhow, I went to the vet right away and had that big nasty thing taken off my stomach and the vets knew right away what it was and what it was from. They took out the baby making bits as well, so I won’t have to go through having my babies and then losing them right away to being just a baby and money making factory for somebody. Sheesh….get a job!! I have some issues, I won’t lie, but I am starting to kind of get used to being out of a cage, where I learned to circle around and around as there wasn’t a lot of space in those things. I can walk in a straight line and the more I get time outside, the more I am enjoying the fresh air and smells in the grass. I will revert to circles when I am nervous but Rome wasn’t built in a day and I have only had freedom for a couple of months now. I don’t have many teeth, as the ones I did have were rotted and broken from trying to eat the bars I suppose. I startle easily from the lack of being held and loved in my former life, and will try to “gum” you if I pick me up too quickly. But speaking to me and touching me before you pick me up will let me know you are there and going to be gentle with me. I am still getting used to the being held part, and sometimes can’t tolerate it very long, but I am learning and going slow is really helpful to me. I am learning what good food tastes like, and what a soft bed feels like, and while I have pretty limited vision to see things, I can follow my nose and it helps me to find everything I need to get around. Foster mom leaves me a puppy pad to potty on in the house if I have to go at night, and I am pretty good at using it. It took a while to figure out that is what it was for, but also, if I potty outside after meals, I am good if I keep to a schedule. So that is my story. If you are interested in giving a blind old lady a soft landing for the rest of my life, let me know. Local adoption in Texas only please.

Story
Magpie is a senior sweetie that is still fairly new to us at BR. She was very quiet and shutdown when we first pulled her but has started to come out of her shell with her foster and they are finding she is quite the shadow! She does seem to be both site and hearing impaired and we will know more after we have her vetted so stay tuned!February 25, 2026, 12:15 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Meet  Freddie ! Freddie ’s story started on the streets of East Nashville, where this tiny adventurer was found bravely navigating the world on his own. After an extensive search for his family came up empty, he’s now safe and thriving in the loving care of Proverbs — and ready to find his forever home. This 10-pound miniature Poodle is about one year old and packed with personality.  Freddie  has plenty of spunk and charm, and in foster care he’s shown just how sweet and playful he can be. He gets along wonderfully with other dogs — especially his one-year-old German Shepherd foster brother — and would absolutely love a home with a canine companion to romp around with. Freddie  is potty trained, crate trained, and completely adorable. Once he’s comfortable, he transforms into a devoted little lap dog who adores his person. He bonds quickly and deeply, and there’s something incredibly special about earning his trust. That said,  Freddie  does best with slow introductions to new people. He can be barky at first (toy poodle personality, perhaps!) and may be a bit protective of his favorite human. With patience, structure, and positive reinforcement — especially treats, which he considers the great equalizer — he continues to build confidence and make great progress. Freddie  would thrive in a home that offers consistency, love, and understanding. With the right match, this sweet, spirited little guy will be an incredibly loyal and affectionate companion. Could  Freddie  be your perfect match?    Medical Notes: Neutered  Vaccinated Dewormed Microchipped Heartworm Negative Maintained on monthly preventatives Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.February 28, 2026, 2:08 pm
