Story
immy is being fostered in PA. Jimmy is a special little guy, a 14 week old Mini Poodle, who was dealt a bad hand physically but nothing is stopping him from being happy and enjoying life. Jimmy is working on house breaking and coming along. We are starting to learn SIT and COME. He follows his foster Mommy all over and just loves to be with people and other pups to play with and snuggle. We call Jimmy a little goat because he likes to launch himself in the air at you or another pup. Jimmy is sight impaired, one eye did not develop and the other is smaller than normal but he does have enough sight to get around ok. Then there is his wee heart. Jimmy has two abnormalities and is being put on a beta-blocker to slow heart rate. Basically, there is a hole in the heart (VSD) and it is pushing blood through the right side into the lungs. Then, there is the pulmonic valve that is not opening enough to push blood to the lungs. So two abnormalities, but in a way working together: were one is not putting enough blood to lungs the other is putting blood to lungs. The cardiologist put Jimmy’s prognosis as guarded. He needs a re-check in 9 months to see where things stand. Possibly, at that time they can do a balloon procedure to open the valve. Also, there is a chance as he grows the hole could shrink but that is uncertain. As for Jimmy, don’t tell him he has any “issues”. He says, “I’m a puppy and I like to play with other dogs, run around chasing after my foster Mommy, and just have lots of fun. Life, bring it on”. BDRA has voted against the use of electrical fencing effective immediately.

Story
Meet Ellie May! Hello new friends, my name is Ellie May. I was found as a stray, and the good people at Albert's Dog Lounge took me in and promised to find me the most perfect home, where I will always be loved and cared for. I'm a senior lady with beautiful blonde curls and weigh just over 16 pounds. The perfect size for any family! I go potty outside and do quite well with not having any accidents in the house if I'm kept on a regular schedule. I get along well with other dogs and would love to have another canine companion in my home to keep me company while my humans are away. Do you know what would be even better? If my new family worked from home or was retired. I just enjoy being with my humans so much. I even love the smaller humans! I really enjoy sniffing in the back yard, and going for walks in the neighborhood. I have a collapsing trachea, so I need to have a harness on for walks, and I take a medicine every day to help control it better, but sometimes I still cough because of it. My activity level should also be kept to a minimum if it's really hot or humid out. When it's time to go for a car ride, I crawl right into my crate and lay down, and enjoy the journey! I'm a good girl like that. I'm a social butterfly and quite friendly with everyone. Foster mom says I'll find my forever home in no time since I'm such a beautiful little lady and so well-behaved! Are you ready to add a little love to your home? *Ellie May is being fostered in Madison, WI. Albert's Dog Lounge is a specialty rescue focusing primarily on senior and special needs dogs. Story
Meet Artemis! Hello there, I'm Artemis. I'm a handsome adult guy weighing just over 17 pounds. As one of the few males released from an Amish puppy mill, I'm feeling extra relieved to be free from that life! I'm a bit timid yet, but I'm very inquisitive and now I'm my foster mom’s little shadow. I've also started jumping up on the couch with my foster parents when invited, so I can curl up next to them, otherwise I'm just not quite sure how I should interact with them just yet, so I shouldn't live with kiddos who don't understand that. The older, the better in my book. I get along with other dogs and would do quite well if I had another dog in my forever home to teach me the ropes of my new surroundings. I'm working on going outside to do my pottying, and if I had a friend to go with me, I might catch on even faster! I'm actually doing pretty fair with this new part of my life! I haven't been around any cats, but for the right family, I could meet one and see how it goes. I have recently learned what toys are! Both squeaky toys and chew toys, but I much prefer squeaker toys and destroying them. Its so much fun, and foster mom says I have a whole graveyard of dead squeakers! I love to play and if my forever humans dedicate just a bit of time to playing, I'll build a quicker bond with them. I'm just learning what a leash is, and it's going okay. My forever family will have to continue working with me on that if they want me to do well with it. Otherwise, I'll need a fenced yard to make sure I stay safe. Foster mom says I'm ready to start looking for my forever home now! I'll just need to be in a home where patience and understanding is a common practice because I can't wait to be a part of a loving family and see everything that this life has to offer me, it will just take a little longer for me to understand what it's all about. I sure hope you are the family for me! *Artemis is being fostered in the Waukesha area. Albert's Dog Lounge is a specialty rescue focusing primarily on senior and special needs dogs. Story
Get ready to fall in love with Slinky! My name is Slinky and I am a goofy, adorable 25-lb, golden oldie, poodle mix that loves attention and cuddles! I’m happy to be as close to my people as possible and am happiest curled up next to them. I am dog and cat friendly and while I don’t currently live with children, it’s believed I am family friendly since I love to engage and play with toys and request frequent belly rubs. I have great house manners, I am learning my new environment quickly and am doing great on going potty outside when on a consistent schedule. If my foster family will be away for awhile then I’m happy to wear a belly band as I gain more confidence. While I am friendly, I previously lived with a dog that injured my leg. I’m currently taking Gabapentin to make me feel better and have no issues taking my medicine. I certainly don’t hold a grudge and continue to be excited to meet new human and canine friends while on walks! I’m just happy to prance and show off my leash skills and wag my tail :) I’m so excited about finding a family that makes me feel safe and loved so I can love you right back twice as much. If you are ready for love from a calm, pretty boy; look no further than me! *Slinky is being fostered in Monroe, WI Albert's Dog Lounge is a specialty rescue focusing primarily on senior and special needs dogs. Meet MaxMax wasn't always so handsome looking. We didn't even know he had spots under all that fur! Max came in to the shelter from a transport. He was looking for a fresh start in life and that included a sprucing up. Thank you to Sarah from Groomed by Sarah for helping Max feel and look better! Max will need a home with no other animals. We get it, after coming from an overcrowded shelter why would you want to share your people?!Max will do best in a home with no children or other animals.
