Story
About Me: Name:  Chia Breed (or best guess): Poodle or Mini Goldendoodle Approximate Age: DOB 6/21/18 Gender: F Approximate Weight: 13 lb Adoption Fee: $495 Requirements: Loving, patient family, fenced yard and another dog is best Why In Rescue: puppy mill survivor Profile:   Chia came from a commercial breeder/puppy farmer who was no longer going to use her for breeding.  We were told she is a poodle, but she looks more like a doodle.  She is social for a breeder dog, but don't expect her to run up and love everyone like a dog raised in a home since a puppy.  She is learning to trust and as she is with us more we will work on things like leash walking, but right now just getting her more socialized and use to living around people is what we work on. Dogs from commercial breeders are generally undersocialized (often very scared/shy/skittish) and probably never lived in a house.  They will need to learn things like how to walk on a leash, go up stairs, and what things like a television are.  They need a patient adopter who will give them the time they need to adjust and to learn to trust people.  Every baby step forward needs to be celebrated, and the dog needs to be accepted for who they are at each step.  Some dogs can adjust quickly and learn how to be a loved pet pretty easily.  Others can take a long time to even be comfortable with things like walking through the house and being in the same room as a person.  No matter how far and how fast the breeder dogs progress, they are wonderful dogs and deserve a great home after their life on the puppy farm.  A fence or at least a secure fenced in potty area is highly recommended for the dog's safety, and may be required for some dogs.  Another small dog in the house can also help many former breeders adjust faster to life in a home, and also may be required in some cases.  We do put the needs of the dog's first, so it is nothing personal if we determine a particular dog isn't suitable for your specific home and living situation. If considering adopting a former breeding dog, the following article is good to read to help you understand the special needs these dogs may have.  http://nowisconsinpuppymills.com/mill-survivors.html If interested in adoption, the first step is filling out the pre-adoption application at http://www.bichonrescues.com/pre-adoption-form-dog  If link isn't clickable, please copy/paste or visit http://www.bichonrescues.com.  Please note, filling out inquiry forms on Petfinder or Adoptapet and/or their application forms does not constitute an application for one of our dogs.  Priority in responding to inquires and applications is always to the applications filled out on our website, time constraints limit the number of other inquires we can reply to. We do our best to evaluate the dogs while they are with us, but they sometimes act different in the shelter environment than they do in a home.  Many times we do not know the actual breed/mix or age of the dog, in that case we use our best guess as to breed and age.   We are located in Mukwonago, WI.  Adopters must come to us, we do not ship our dogs.  Please do not apply for a dog until you are ready to adopt.  Once an application is approved you will be notified by email to make an appointment to meet the dog.  All dogs are seen by appointment only. The adoption fee through Bichon and Little Buddies Rescue is $495 for most adults and up to $650 for puppies which includes Wi State Sales Tax.  Included in this fee is your new companion who will be spayed/neutered, have a current Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (as required by state law), current on age appropriate vaccinations, heartworm tested (if old enough) and started on preventative, microchipped, and given a general wormer.  Other medical needs will also have been taken care of, such as dentals and treating ear infections.  To assist you and your new pet in adjusting to life together, you may chose to take an 8 week age appropriate obedience training course at For Pet's Sake Dog Training in Mukwonago, WI for $100 (up to $260 value).  You may opt to take Puppy Kindergarten, Adult Beginners, or Small Dogs Big Hearts.  You must register for the class within 90 days of adoption for the reduced fee.  For more information on the classes visit www.forpetssake.cc  More important information: ***We are a Wisconsin based rescue and do not ship our pets.  If you are considering adoption you must be willing to drive to meet and adopt the pet, as well as bring the pet back to us if the adoption doesn't work.  We adopt primarily in WI and IL, but will consider applicants in MN, IA, and MI.*** ***Please do not set up an appointment to meet the animals until you are ready to take your pet home.  If the meeting results in a match, you can often take the dog/cat home the same day or within a couple days if the medical care hasn't been completed.  We are not able to hold pets for adopters beyond this time.  Thanks for understanding.*** ***While we hope all of our adoptions lead to permanent homes for the animals we place, sometimes things just don't work out.  We do have a 30 day trial period.  For the first 30 days, if you or Bichon and Little Buddies decide that the adoption isn't a good match for either the humans or the pet, the adoption fee will be refunded minus $100 within 30 days of the return of the dog.  Bichon and Little Buddies also requires adopters to return the pet to us at any time that they are unable or unwilling to care for the animal anymore.*** ***We do not show dogs without an appointment.  The first step in adoption is filling out the pre-adoption application at http://www.bichonrescues.com/pre-adoption-form-dog  Please do not call/email until AFTER you have filled out an application.*** Bichon and Little Buddies is a State Licensed Rescue # 268555-DS August 22, 2026, 8:18 pm

Story
11.5 years old? BENJI clearly missed the memo that he’s supposed to be slowing down!Benji is an adorable little Mini Poodle / mix with the confidence of a dog who has been around the block a time or two and knows exactly what he wants out of life - and what he wants most is his people! This sweet senior bonds fast and hard, and once Benji decides you’re his person, he’d prefer to be wherever you are. Cleaning the garage? He’ll supervise. Relaxing on the porch? He’ll happily hang out at your feet. Heading out for a walk? Those little poodle paws are ready to GO!Despite being 11.5 years old, Benji still has plenty of pep in his step! He’s quick on his feet, loves getting out and exploring, and has the absolute cutest habit of waving his little poodle paws in the air when he’s excited to see you. At the same time, he’s perfectly content settling in and enjoying the quieter parts of the day. He’s a wonderful combination of happy, confident, social, and easygoing.Benji is currently living in a foster home where he has been exposed to quite the crew! He has done well around dogs, a farm cat, horses, and plenty of everyday activity without much fazing him. We believe Benji may do well living with other animals as long as proper, slow introductions are performed! That being said, he can occasionally be a little “much” for another dog, so any canine companions should be confident, well-socialized, and comfortable sharing their space with his larger-than-life little personality. While Benji certainly prefers being with his people, he is able to settle in a crate after some time. Just don`t expect him to snooze through your return - the second you`re back, he`s on his feet and ready to see his favorite person!Benji may technically qualify as a senior, but don`t count this little guy out because of his age. He still has so much personality, companionship, and love to give! He’s simply looking for someone who appreciates a confident little sidekick who wants to be included in whatever the day brings.Benji is neutered, microchipped, up-to-date on vaccinations, heartworm negative, and current on flea/tick & heartworm preventatives.Benji has been around the block... now he’s just looking for the person he gets to walk the rest of it with! Please fill out an adoption application on our website - for any additional information or questions, please contact the shelter at wausharacoanimalshelter@gmail.com or (920) 279-979

Story
Greetings everyone my name is Ellen. I am a spayed, 5 year old poodle (mix?) My foster mom, Maggie says I am the prettiest girl. We live in Mt. Pleasant Wisconsin. I have not had the best life yet and I hoping to change that. I am very shy when I meet strangers, loud noises have me running and hiding. I come out of my shell after knowing you and will follow you in and out to go potty. I will even join other dogs in playing. I am a quiet lady. I like sleeping in a bed or a soft doggy bed, I don't bother cats, I tolerate grooming well and I even think kids are okay if they are quiet ones. My foster mom says I must be with people who will be gentle and patient and help bring out the fun loving girl inside. If your are interested in adopting me please go to the Tiny Paws Small Dog Rescue Website. You can also text my foster mom at 262-939-9339. She is much too busy playing with dogs for phone calls. I am looking forward to finding a permanent home. Could that be with you? Adoption fees apply WI DATCP # 274478

Story
Meet Patches! He is a 2-year-old mixed breed that we believe could be a poodle mix. It appears that Patches had a rough start at life when he came into HSPC. He was matted and terrified. It took him a while to realize that we were not here to hurt him. He has learned to love walks, toys, and the staff members. Once he warms up to you, he is the goofiest guy. He loves to throw soft toys into the air and roll in the grass. He likes to jump up to give you a quick kiss before going back to his toy. Due to his shyness and need for boundaries, we do not think Patches would enjoy living in a home with children. He will need a person who understands dog behavior and body language. Patches will also need to see a groomer regularly to make sure his coat stays mat free! He seems to be potty trained, as his kennel is never messy. Patches is neutered, micro chipped, and current on his vaccines. He weighs 21lbs. His adoption fee is $300 +tax. If you are interested in meeting/adopting Patches please fill out an application on our website; www.hspcwi.org. Only the approved adopter will be notified for an appointment. If the adopter is a resident of Portage County a dog license will be issued at the time of adoption.August 24, 2026, 1:04 pm

Check out our Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok for more pictures & videos of our adoptable dogs!To sponsor my trip to WI, go to  www.tailwaggers911.com  for more info!   ***I am able to go home to my forever family right from transport!! You get a 5 day trial with me in your home. Put in your application soon!*** Please help me get out! I am currently in a place where there are lots of unwanted dogs and not all of us here get the chance I might have to leave! But in order to help me out of here to catch the ride to WI on September 11th and arrive on September 12th, I need *both* a sponsor, and a WI foster home *or* a WI adopter! I have a place for now, but I can't stay here forever and I am worried. The rescue has put a hold on me to save my spot on the trip up north to WI, but now they need YOUR help to get me there - don't wait!!! Updated: 8/9/26 Dog Name: Strawberry Sex: Female Estimated Breed: Poodle/Schnauzer Mix Approximate Age: 7 Months  Approximate Weight: 10 lbs Spay/Neuter Status: Spayed Adoption Fee: $650 Description:Strawberry and her siblings were surrendered, they are from an unwanted litter and had no where to go. They are from a tiny town with no resources for unwanted pets. Thank goodness the owner tried hard to give them a second chance! This trio is so precious, they are petite and sweet. They can be shy at first but now they are loving affection and can’t wait to find a family of their own! They deserve a good life and they are feeling so much better after getting their first groom and pampering! Help this precious family find their new homes! We are a Wisconsin state licensed dog rescue -WI# 402433   ***We do not have a central adoption center at this time. All our dogs are in private foster homes within WI. At this time, we only place our dogs in areas of WI. The breed of our dogs is our best guess with the help of our veterinarians. Our Weight Classes are as follows: 0- 25lbs - Small 26- 45lbs - Medium 46-89 - Large 90+ X-large If you are adopting an adult dog, which we consider 6 months of age or older, your adoption fee includes the following: Spay/Neuter, Rabies and Distemper shots, dewormed, flea & tick preventative, heartworm tested and microchipped. If you are adopting a dog younger than 6 months of age, the dog will be up to date on the shots as per the dogs age. The dog will be dewormed, flea/tick preventative and microchipped. We only spay/neuter our dogs once they're at least 6 months old. If you decide to adopt a younger dog than 6 months, they will need to be spayed/neutered by your veterinarian when they are between 6 to 8 months old. Proof that the spay/neuter has been completed will need to be submitted to Tailwaggers911. Once proof of the spay/neuter has been received, we will refund $100 of your adoption fee via Venmo, PayPal or have a check in the mail within 15 days. Once you are approved with our rescue, you can meet any one of our dogs within the fosters home. If you are interested in the dog you met, you can take the dog home under our mandatory foster to adopt program. You receive 5 days to see if the dog is the right fit for your home. If it is, we will conduct the home visit and finalize adoption. If it is not, it is returned to the foster. We are happy to find you another dog that meets your needs in your home. If a dog is listed as ADOPTION IN PROCESS, a family has met the dog and planning on adopting the dog after the home visit has been conducted. We always suggest sending in an application for a dog because there are times where the dogs are given back to us under the foster to adopt program. There are many reasons dogs are returned but normally it just was not the right fit for all. Please go to WWW.TAILWAGGERS911.COM under HOW TO ADOPT . We have an online application that is very easy to fill out. August 23, 2026, 11:03 pm
