Story
We have a transport leaving on 2/21/26 from where we are located in Southern California to NorCal, OR, and surrounding states as needed for our adopting families where we bring our dogs all the way to their homes 💗 For peace of mind we never ask for anything up front. The adoption fee along with your share of travel costs will be due the day we arrive in person ultimately finalizing the adoption then and there with you. We would love to add Suki to our trip for the right family 😊 Suki is a beautiful 3-year-old purebred Miniature Schnauzer with the most gentle, loving soul. She has been raised with so much love, and it truly shows in every interaction. She is a sweetheart by nature, and the depth of her heart is something you feel the moment you meet her 💕 There is something incredibly special and calming about her presence, the kind that makes you feel instantly at ease. Suki weighs 16.3 lbs and is fully grown, maintaining a very healthy weight—she simply carries it beautifully. She is spayed, has had a full dental cleaning and polish (no extractions needed and no missing teeth), is current on all vaccinations, microchipped, and received a very thorough veterinary exam that went wonderfully. We also completed full X-rays to ensure her joints are healthy, as she will occasionally hold up a front paw. We’re happy to report everything checked out perfectly, and we’ve learned this is simply one of her charming little “please” antics—gentle begging in whatever way she thinks might make us cave 🙃 With a clean bill of health and a whole lot of personality, Suki is 100% ready to begin her next chapter 💗 Suki is wonderful with other dogs, and while she doesn’t really engage in play, she doesn’t mind them whatsoever. If you have a sweet, laid-back companion for her to share life with, she would make a perfect snuggle partner for them—assuming she isn’t already curled up with you 💗 Suki is crate trained and knows her crate very well, walking right in the moment the door is opened for her. Her prior owners were an elderly couple who adored her deeply. While they would have loved to have her sleep in bed with them, they knew their nights could be restless at times and didn’t want that to disrupt her peace. Giving her the comfort and consistency of her own space at night was something they did purely out of love for her wellbeing. Sadly, as time went on, her owners began facing significant medical issues that required frequent hospital stays. This meant Yuki was often home alone, and with no clear end in sight for their health challenges, they knew that life without them present was leaving her heart unfulfilled. Loving her as deeply as they did, they made the incredibly selfless decision to ensure she could be with people she loved rather than spending her days without them. They wanted her to have a life filled with companionship, warmth, and connection—everything she has always known and deserves. Suki is wonderful at the groomers and absolutely loves her spa days. She enjoys being told how beautiful she is, and if treats are involved, even better 😊 A well-stocked treat shelf—whether in the pantry or fridge—is highly recommended, as she loves fruits and veggies just as much as traditional treats. She is not a barker, but if an unfamiliar noise catches her off guard, she will let you know. Once she does, she is very quick to follow your lead and your commands, allowing you to take over and reassure her. Suki is incredibly sweet, kind, and loving. She adores cuddles and will gently place her paws on you when she’s ready to be picked up and doted on at a moment’s notice. She has wonderful house manners, is fully house trained, and goes outside every 3–4 hours when asked. She is leash trained and enjoys her walks whenever she can get them in. She isn’t high energy by any means, but she can absolutely keep up with you for a nice, relaxed stroll 😊 Adoption fee is on our website at the bottom of her adoption listing at https://www.breadoflifek9refuge.org/post/_suki-1 This includes all veterinary care, including her dental cleaning, spay, X-rays, current vaccines, microchip and registration, and a full veterinary exam, along with the care she has received while with us.

Story
My name is Rusty and I’m looking for my perfect home. I’m a sweet and lovable pup, 8 years old and weigh 13.8 pounds, we think he is mixed with Schnauzer. I came to AFC in March of 2024. I came from a hoarder home where 87 dogs were living. I’ve had a long road learning how to be a normal dog but I’m very precious and sweet if you give me a little time to get to know you. If you sit on the floor with me, I will climb into your lap and cover you with snuggles. I imagine I would be just as happy in your cozy recliner. I may need some more house training but I do go in and out on command. When the staff says “Go Potty” I go right out the door. I can use the doggie door too. I’m not a real fan of baths and I hate the blow dryer but I tolerate it. Luckily my scruffy fur is pretty easy care. With a little patience and love, I will learn how to walk on a leash. I’m neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. Finding a home with other dogs will definitely help Rusty continue to learn and thrive as a pampered pooch. Story
Dusty is amazing and has a lot of love to give. With a sweet and gentle nature, I'm sure he’ll bring a lot of joy to his future family. Here’s a little overview to help you find his perfect home: Coming from a hoarder home his best home would be with one or two other dogs, so that they can help you learn the ropes and feel more comfortable in your new environment. He will need someone who will give him time to adjust and understand that you're still learning how to be a typical dog. A cozy home with snuggly places like a recliner or big soft bed where you can curl up and feel safe would be ideal for Dusty. Your new family should be willing to help you with house training and leash walking so you can grow and learn. A home that provides plenty of toys and playtime that will keep you entertained and happy. Your willingness to snuggle will surely make you a beloved companion. You’re already showing great progress with house training, responding well to commands. With a little patience, you’ll be a wonderfully playful and loving addition to someone’s life. Dusty is neutered, vaccinated and micro-chipped. Dusty is related to Rusty. We hope you find a wonderful home that appreciates your sweet nature and gives you all the love and care you deserve! If you’re waiting for a family, keep showing off those snuggles and playing with your toys—you’ll find your forever home soon! 🐾❤️ We have a Facebook page and hope that you will “Like” us at https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61561870361467 to see postings of our dogs.
