Story
Meet Bug – A Miniature Schnauzer with a Big Personality! Atlanta, GA | 2.5 years old | Fully Vetted & Neutered Bug is a true Miniature Schnauzer through and through, smart, determined, and full of personality. At just under 20 lbs, he may be small in size, but don’t let that fool you. Bug is a working dog at heart and thrives when he’s mentally and physically fulfilled. If you're familiar with the breed, you’ll understand the quirks that make him so special. If you're new to Miniature Schnauzers, here's the quick scoop: they're intelligent, alert, spirited, and happiest when they have a job to do. Bug isn’t your typical lap dog, he’s not looking to be carried around or doted on all day. He’s looking for a partner. He loves structured walks, training, learning new skills, and going on adventures. He needs a home that understands his mind and embraces the joy of working with their dog, not just having one around. Bug originally came to us after being dumped at a shelter. He was adopted through our program by a loving family, but unfortunately, they couldn’t follow through with the structure and training Bug depends on to feel safe and confident. He became anxious and overwhelmed, and we made the decision to welcome him back. Since returning, Bug has absolutely flourished. He’s a dream on the leash, loves his crate, settles beautifully on “place,” and is an all-around gentleman when given the leadership he needs. He’s proof that the right environment, one with guidance, patience, and understanding, makes all the difference. If you’re ready to build a real relationship with a dog like Bug, we’d love to chat. We offer training support to help adopters set their dogs up for long-term success, not because Bug needs it, but because he deserves it. Want to learn more about our training philosophy? Listen to our podcast, Think Like a Dog, where we talk all about Bug, our methods, and how to create lasting bonds with dogs just like him. https://thinklikeadog.buzzsprout.com PLEASE COMPLETE THE ADOPTION APPLICATION FIRST. Story
Candy Cane, or Candy for short! Candy is a 2-3 year old white Miniature Schnauzer weighing around 10 lbs. She's tiny but mighty! Candy doesn't bark, she makes crazy loud vocalizations when she's happy! Candy is a total sweetheart who we also call a "Cling-on". She prefers your lap for the day and your shoulder for the night! While she is crate trained and house trained in her foster family home, she doesn't mind the privilege of sleeping in the bed with her foster mom too! A potty training schedule is mandatory and crating her when not home so that she will not be tempted to have an accident. She enjoys chewing on bully sticks and Benebones and carrying toys into her crate, but her preference is a human lap. Candy seems to get along with the dogs in her foster home, but she eats in her crate as she eats fast and will get a tiny bit sassy if other dogs get near while she is eating. She does well eating from a slow feed bowl and puzzle toys to slow her down. Candy is a door dasher, so a fenced in yard is ideal, but not necessarily required as due to her size, she cannot be outside alone. Outside on leash only for sure! She's a tad of a leash puller, but not too bad at it. She has learned sit and wait with her foster mom, so there is plenty more you can teach this adorable gal. Candy has not been tested with children or cats, so we are looking for a no cat home and no kids under the age of 8 due to her small size. Another small dog with her energy level who will play with her is ideal. However, being an only dog would be fine too if you let her have your lap and will keep up with her activity needs! Candy's health: Candy will come to you spayed, fully vaccinated and heartworm negative. Candy has been groomed and because of her breed, consideration needs to be made for the cost of grooming about every 5-6 weeks as she does not shed, but grows hair like a human. Candy's ideal home: Someone who wants a total lap dog. Someone who likes to dress her up - she likes sweaters and dresses! Someone who will take her for car rides? Another dog around her size would be great, but no large dogs as she's intimidated by them, no cats or kids under the age of 8. However, she loves the company of the small dog in her foster home. You will need to live in the metro Atlanta area as her foster mom will do a home visit. A family who has previous experience with Miniature Schnauzers would be ideal. She will be available for her forever home around the last week of December.
