Story
Zoey is a 12-year-old miniature schnauzer mix weighing 21 lbs. This lovely senior girl does have a grade 4/6 heart murmur, but that doesn’t stop her from enjoying life’s little pleasures. Zoey is low energy and perfectly content with short strolls, a little time in the yard, or a cozy car ride. She’s house-trained (goes potty outside) and also paper trained, making her easy to manage. She doesn’t use a crate in her foster home. She gets along well with other dogs and is curious but respectful with cats. While she hasn’t been around kids in our care, her gentle nature suggests she could adjust to a calm, patient household. Zoey is described as friendly, adaptable, happy, and playful—though she does take a little time to warm up. Once she feels safe, she’ll happily follow you around, ask for treats, and even get a little playful. She loves sleeping in bed with her foster mom and will reward patience with loyal companionship. Zoey would thrive in a home where her people are around more often, but she also does well being left alone if she has other dogs for company. If you’re looking for a sweet, devoted friend to share your days with, Zoey would love to be your little shadow. Her adoption fee is sponsored. There is a $15 fee, if 4 months or older, for rabies registration for McLean County residents. She has been spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, heartworm checked, dewormed, and is on flea and heartworm preventatives. Story
All Pet Central animals are up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations, spayed or neutered, microchipped (registration included), and current on parasite prevention. Dogs over six-months of age are heartworm tested. When adopting, we will ensure that you receive copies of veterinary and microchip records. Records are sent via email. Paper versions are available upon request. If you are interested in this pet, please fill out the brief Adopter Survey by hitting "Apply for Adoption" on the profile above. After we review your completed survey, we will contact you by phone or email within three business days. Please note- Out of respect for our volunteers and staff, we are closed on Sunday and Monday and will not be processing any applications on those days. Please get back to us right away when we call or email regarding an application so that we can quickly connect using the process below: Select a pet and submit an online adoption survey. A PCH! adoption counselor will contact potential adopters within three business days (PCH! cannot guarantee any pet's availability, but we make every effort to accommodate adopters with a reply and possible alternative suggestions). An adoption counselor and client will then have a conversation to answer questions, discuss any medical needs for the pet and determine the suitability of a match (if necessary, we may opt to put adopters in touch with foster parents). After a match is made, clients will be asked to sign our adoption agreement and pay the adoption fee online through our secure payment system *Please see our modified no-risk return policy. (below) The PCH! adoption counselor will then set up a specific appointment time and location. Adopters should bring a pet carrier and/or a leash to pick up and their ID. Adult pets will be wearing a collar. It is important that clients arrive on time, neither early nor late. Cats and kittens are required to leave in a pet carrier. If your adoption is scheduled at Pet Central Helps!: Upon arrival inside the Crossroads Center complex (360 Wylie Drive), look for the black Pet Central Helps! semi-trailer, which is right outside of our facility (Suite 720). Park in the parking lot and enter the facility. A PCH! representative will greet you and show you to the adoption room. Your new pet will be handed to you. We will take a "Happy Adoption Day” photo with your pet and family. If your adoption is scheduled at PetSmart – Bloomington, IL: Park in the PetSmart (1606 E. Empire St.) Parking lot and enter the store. We will be set up just inside the store entrance. Let us know you are here to pick up your pet! A PCH! representative will confirm your information and hand you your pet. We will take a "Happy Adoption Day” photo with your pet and family. If your adoption is scheduled at the Cat’s Meow Cafe: Navigate to PetSmart, park in the parking lot and enter the store. Locate a PCH! Representative at our adoption table and let them know you are picking up a Cat Cafe Cat. You will sign your final contract with your counselor and snap a picture of the completed screen. Head to the Cat’s Meow Cafe at 507 N. Hershey Rd and provide them with the snapshot of your final contract. They will get your cat and take a “Happy Adoption Day” photo with your pet and family. PCH! supports a 30-day no-fault return policy in which adopters are given the opportunity to find a better match. If we cannot provide advice/tools to keep a pet in the home we offer these options: Exchange for a pet that may be a better match** Receive a refund minus a $40 processing fee** With this approach, we can often turn mismatches into opportunities! Thank you, Pet Central Helps!

Story
Marx is a 2-year-old miniature schnauzer mix weighing just 9 lbs, and he’s as sweet as they come. This tiny guy is a bit shy at first, but once he feels safe, his loving personality really shines. Because of his small size and sensitive nature, Marx will do best in a home with kids who are old enough to be gentle, respectful, and mindful of his space. Marx is a total cuddle bug and loves to cling to staff like a little sloth when he’s feeling affectionate. He’s a wiggly little guy with some playful energy, and he’s especially fond of squeaky toys. When it’s time to relax, you’ll often find him cozied up in his domed dog bed, happily turning it into the perfect little den. This sweet boy craves love and attention—he’ll even paw at you to ask for more! Marx is very fearful on leash and tends to freeze up, so a securely fenced yard is a must for him. With patience, kindness, and a calm environment, Marx will make an incredibly devoted and snuggly companion. His minimum adoption fee is $300 plus a $15 fee, if 4 months or older, for rabies registration for McLean County residents. He has been neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, heartworm checked, dewormed, and is on flea and heartworm preventatives.
