Story
Bruce has come such a long way since he came into our program. He was hairless, very thin, and dehydrated when he was walking down the street. We could not turn him away. Even though he was the result of terrible neglect, he needed to go through his stray hold and attempt to contact his owners registered on his microchip. He was originally adopted from the Kansas Humane Society several years earlier, his contact numbers were not viable and no one came forward to claim him. Once in our care we, after various vet care and tests, found out he was just very allergic to all the fleas he had. So the journey started to see how much he could heal once the flea allergies and skin infections were cleared up. It took a long time but we were amazed that all of his hair grew back and the gross skin problems disappeared. During this time we saw him as a very sweet and loving dog. He had just a couple of issues, not related to health, that we had to work on. One was bolting and running out the door whenever he could, and the other was his complete fear of having his nails trimmed. He has stopped bolting out the door, but he is still a tough boy about getting his nails trimmed. We were in hopes that someone would be interested in adopting a little black dog who was part schnauzer. But, so far he has not found his forever home. He is a senior dog at about 9 to 10 years, but he is in very good health. He is house and crate trained, good with other dogs of all sizes and ok with cats. He is a great companion dog and will be very loyal to his new owners. Now, the hard part is finding just the right person who will give him a furever home.
